Day Nurseries Owned by The Old Station Nursery

We only had to leave due to relocating, and we are so sad to say goodbye. A huge thank you to Tamara, Molly, River, Isla, Judi and Christie for taking such wonderful care of our daughter and making her first nursery experience so special. We would absolutely recommend Green Rascals Elvington to any parent!

Both of our children have spent their nursery years at Little Green Rascals in Poppleton and we couldn't be happier with their time spent there. Our children have made such lovely friendships during their time in nursery and created such strong, positive relationships with their key workers and all the other staff. We are incredibly grateful to everyone at the nursery for giving our children such a positive start. It has been wonderful to see how much our children have grown in confidence, independence and development during their time at nursery. We would highly recommend this nursery to any family. We leave with many happy memories.

A quick review and thank you to all of the team in the babies room at Sunhill (Stars) - our daughter moves up to the next room shortly. The room leader, Lucy, is excellent and we've always felt so confident leaving our daughter at nursery with her and the team. They really care and do so much to help all the children develop and learn new skills.

A truly tried-and-tested review from a family who has been part of Sixpenny since 2022. We've had two children attend across Babies, Toddlers, Forest School and Pre-School, giving us firsthand experience of everything Sixpenny offers.Our boys have been nurtured, supported and genuinely loved by an incredible team who quickly became like family. Every handover left us feeling informed, included and confident our children were thriving.Sixpenny is a magical environment filled with adventure, creativity and nature. From Forest School woodland walks and bear hunts to caring for goats, chickens and tortoises, every day is filled with memorable experiences. The activities, learning opportunities and home-cooked meals are exceptional.Jess, Tash and Sam have created a welcoming, supportive community, while Lucy and Caroline have had a lasting impact on our family. Leaving is incredibly emotional. Sixpenny has given our boys friendship, confidence, adventure and so much joy.

Such a beautiful space for children to grow, learn and feel safe. Thoughtful, kind and fun staff provide a full day of interest and adventure, every day! Forest school adds great outdoor space, great activities by outside agencies (science tots and baby band were favourites for us) add to the great work done by nursery staff, the food is healthy and tasty, and the management team are available and approachable.

Staff are excellent and are very kind, good feedback given and professional. My daughter has enjoyed her time attending. I would add the rooms do tend to get rather warm in the summer time, air conditioning fitted would make major improvement.

Our daughter Taly has been at The Old Station Nursery for 2 years and we genuinely couldn't recommend it highly enough. She started as a very shy, quiet little girl who didn't really like mixing with others. She leaves confident, playful, cheerful and full of character. The staff have brought so much out of her and we'll always be grateful for the time and effort they've put into teaching her, building her confidence and giving her so many happy memories. (She loved the food also) A special thank you to Leanne for all her help, understanding and support along the way, and to every member of staff who has cared for, taught and encouraged Taly. She spoke so highly of you all and absolutely loved her time with you. Moving away from the area and having to take Taly out genuinely broke our hearts. If circumstances were different, we wouldn't have considered sending her anywhere else. An amazing nursery with wonderful staff. Thank you for everything you've done for our little girl

Most importantly, we know he is happy, safe and understood at nursery. The team have taken the time to understand how he communicates, what interests him and what helps him feel comfortable. Seeing him build trusting relationships with the staff has been incredibly special. Thank you to all!

We cannot recommend St Nicholas enough. Theo joined when he was just 10 months old and has now left as a confident, kind and incredibly bright nearly 5 year old.

The staff have been such a huge part of his early years and have supported him through so many milestones. They have always shown him so much patience, encouragement and understanding, taking the time to really get to know him and his individual personality.

They have also supported our family through some difficult times, and we will always be incredibly grateful for the care and love they have shown Theo.

We genuinely feel that the nurturing environment at St Nicholas has helped shape the wonderful little boy he is today. He absolutely loved his time there and will miss everyone so much.

Thank you to all the staff for everything you have done for Theo over the years. We feel so lucky that he got to experience St Nicholas and will always look back on his time there with so much love and gratitude.

We recently tried the holiday club in Bishopthorpe (5+) & my son really enjoyed it.

Our child absolutely loved it at LGR Tadcaster Road. He joined at 2yo when we relocated to York and is now leaving for school. I'm very glad I trusted my gut feel and sent him here despite it being slightly more expensive and slightly further away from us.

All the team have been lovely, supportive, independence-building, conscientious. The day to day reality really has been like they said during the initial tour. The "grown ups" have warmth and understanding towards the children while setting standards via "golden rules", helping them to develop independence and confidence. They have supported him well to prepare for school despite him being young in the school year, including supporting us parents with extra school readiness meetings. One of the best parts for the pre-school children is forest school, where they build independence and spend time in amongst the trees, leaves and mud. Plus high quality, nutritious food.

My youngest son is still at Little Green Rascals and both my sons have been there. We're incredibly grateful for the care they've given our boys. My eldest struggled with his speech and they offered 1:1 sessions to help him develop his language. Now he's ahead with phonics and reading at school. Our youngest loves sports and thoroughly enjoys the extra-curriculars like rugby tots and baby yoga. In addition the forest school location is in a beautiful setting and both the boys loved it. It's a fantastic nursery with lovely staff.

What a wonderful nursery! We looked around multiple nurseries across York and Little Green Rascals Bishopthorpe just blew us away. The building is full of light, so inviting and has amazing outdoor spaces. The parent events they hold each month are everything we could've hoped for, we feel so involved in their nursery life. The staff and the management team are so supportive and informative. Couldn't recommend them enough.

I will genuinely miss this incredible group of people. I will miss the love and care they have shown my children, but also the sense of comfort, support and kinship they have given me as a mother.

My son loves his time at Sixpenny and we are so happy to have found this incredible nursery! The staff are so welcoming from the moment you arrive and he always loves saying good morning to the ladies in the kitchen. The daily activities are varied but they also have special visitors often such as sports, drama, cooking and music which keeps it exciting and varied. What shines above the rest though is the outdoor space available, the private gardens mean the children can be outdoors all day but the woodland (where the goats and chickens live!) and meadow are an amazing addition to the outdoor provision, my son is moving to the Forest School in September and he can't wait. I couldn't recommend Sixpenny enough!

Our son has been with Sunhill Colchester for over two years. In that time we have seen him grown in confidence. The staff are so lovely, friendly, warm and kind. Through free play and structure learning our sons language and communication skills have formed. The nursery has also helped him to become more independent and social able. The nursery is safe and the building is modern and bright.

He has loved every single session attended and built great relationships with all the staff over the years aswell as the other children, who he is already missing since he left. I couldnt recommend this nursery enough!

A wonderful nursery who care about the kids they help raise. With multiple external clubs coming in providing activities the children always have an exciting day ahead.

My Little one is leaving Manor Lodge this August after 3 incredible years. I can hand on heart say every single staff member cares deeply about all the children entrusted to their care. They know every child, every tempermant and most importantly they know how to create a safe space where parents are happy to place their children. My little one has flourished in this setting and we're going to miss everyone.

Both my girls have attended Sunhill and both really enjoyed it, my youngest is about to finish and start big school in September. Her graduation in July was really lovely as parents were able to have a picnic with their child on the day and other parent and child events they put on throughout my youngest's time there has been really lovely. The staff are lovely and I know my daughter will miss them all. Thank you for having both my girls and being a valuable part of their early childhood journey.
