Tops Day Nurseries is a family of 29-day nurseries across the south, covering Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Devon.
Tops Day Nurseries is the most sustainable childcare and educational group in the UK. In practice, this means children are actively engaged in reducing, re-using and recycling resources; in growing and caring for animals and learning to respect each other and the environment.
Behind the scenes, Tops are working on a whole host of actions too to ensure all buildings eco-ratings are improving; that waste is separated effectively so that food waste goes to farms if possible, and is incinerated for energy if not, that none of the waste goes to landfill.
Tops area managers even have electric-only vehicles to avoid making the environment any worse for children from driving around.
The group provides children with a happy and secure environment where trained and qualified staff nurture their development through a range of activities, including messy play, cooking, problem-solving, storytelling, creative play and trips out.
Extra-curricular activities are also offered.
These include Tops forest school, tooth brushing, meditation, Tops cooking school and rugby rangers.
The nurseries care for children aged between three months and five years and offer 2, 3 and 4-year-old funding.
Staff at Tops Day Nurseries pride themselves on offering flexible hours tailored to parents’ and carers’ needs, where they can save money by booking to the nearest 15 minutes.

Choosing a nursery as a first-time mum was nerve-wracking, but sending my son to Tops at 10 months was the best decision. He settled immediately and is absolutely thriving! The daily photos are lovely, and his confidence has noticeably grown when we're out and about.
The cooked meals are exceptional, saving us huge amounts of time while ensuring he eats a varied diet. What really sets Tops apart, though, is their flexibility. We've changed our hours twice as our routine evolved, and they've made it seamless. It's rare to find a nursery that truly supports working parents this well. Highly recommended.

Tops is a fabulous nursery, the practitioners go above and beyond to nurture the children whilst also giving them plenty of space to explore independence through play and their absolutely amazing outdoor space (and the wooden fort in the pre-schooler room is just WOW if you're a 3 or 4 year old!) With three children in the setting we have had an experience across all parts of the nursery, all of which have been really positive. The food served is exceptional, real food and plenty of opportunities to explore different meals. This is excellent for my two 'good' eaters, yet my picky eater is always given a safe option and really supported to try little bits of new food with no pressure.
The one thing that truly stands out at Tops is how dedicated and genuinely caring the team are. All three children have developed really lovely relationships with the staff and it is just so heart warming to see this reciprocated. Our children are so happy and thriving at Tops, truly recommend!

High importance is placed on sustainability with a reusable nappy programme and wooden toys. As parents we can rest assured knowing our child is getting nutritious, gourmet food from a no-sugar-added menu. We couldn't be happier with Tops Trowbridge.

The love and care the team show her every day is incredible. They treat each child as an individual, and it shows in how settled, confident and happy she is. She has learnt so much during her time here, and we've loved watching her grow and develop.

We had a very poor experience with this nursery. The staff often appeared overwhelmed and, at times, dismissive of parents' concerns. We noticed a lack of individual attention given to the children, and our child often seemed unhappy or unguided during pick-up times. Basic care and emotional support seemed lacking. We decided to move our child to a different setting where they feel much safer and more valued.
The overall management of this nursery is chaotic and unsafe.

Very good and flexible nursery. Our older son spent some truly lovely years here, starting in the babies room and staying all the way through to Preschool. It has been amazing to see how much he has grown, learned and developed during his time here. We also have our younger son at the nursery, who absolutely loved it from the very beginning. Both of our boys have made wonderful friendships here and have developed great social skills and the ability to work and play as part of a group. The nursery staff are truly fantastic. They are caring, warm and have such a wonderful approach to children. We have always felt that our children are happy, safe and well looked after. The office team are also brilliant. We have never had any problems, and whenever there is something important to deal with, it is handled quickly, professionally and efficiently.
We are incredibly grateful for all the care, support and wonderful memories our children have gained here. We would highly recommend this nursery

I would recommend Tops day nursery to anybody currently looking for childcare or look for change. My son was visiting this nursery 1.5 years and I regret not to start with them right the way! My son is enjoyed every single day, had so much fun and learnt so many things! Their programs Forest School and Cooking school, visiting carehome for in Southbourne, were absolutely great experiences for my son. Amazing, loving, friendly and very helpful staff!
The best nursery we could ever choose!

We honestly couldn't recommend Tops Day Nursery enough. Our son has been going since he was just 9 months old and is now almost 2, and it has been so lovely to see how much he has grown, developed and thrived during his time there.

We honestly couldn't recommend Tops Day Nursery enough. Our son has been going since he was just 9 months old and is now almost 2, and it has been so lovely to see how much he has grown, developed and thrived during his time there. He loves going in, and it's so lovely to see how excited and happy he is every morning. Knowing he is so settled, content and so well cared for gives us complete peace of mind. Our son loves all the staff there, and so do Mummy and Daddy! We'd especially like to give a huge shout out to the Baby Room. Our boy absolutely loves it in there and has formed such a special bond with Christina, Betty, Rach and Happy. They have all been so wonderful with him and clearly care about him so much, which means the world to us as parents.
It's clear that the whole team genuinely love what they do, and that really shines through in the care, kindness and attention they give to the children. We're so grateful for everything they do.

My daughter has been at this nursery for almost a year. She settled really quickly and still loves going in every day and comes out smiling. My daughter has been at this nursery for almost a year. She settled really quickly and still loves going in every day and comes out smiling. The nursery has improved since Adam joined - it is nice to see a manager that makes such a huge effort to get to know the children and families. All the staff are lovely and are brilliant with my daughter and seem like they really care about her. There has never been as issue if I have had to change her hours at short notice and the daily diaries and regular observations are very reassuring and keep me up to date with all her activities. I have no concerns with my daughter attending this nursery and would recommend it to anyone.

My daughter started here in July and has been doing amazing , at her previous nursery I took her out after 3 weeks, as she is very nervous and attached to me she didn't settle well at all. However at Tops, she has created some lovely bonds with staff here and that has given me a lot of comfort , as well as this she always has lots of fun throughout the day and is fed well with healthy snacks and lunch! I have noticed she has become more sociable with other children her age when we're at soft play and has become more confident in herself. I would recommend tops to anyone!
