Barnkids has made huge progress since their last Ofsted report, and is back to how it used to be. Our children (23 months and 3.5) have always been very happy there. But we are now back to recieving regular (and very detailed) observations and good handovers. The rooms are looking lovely and activities are set up daily. There is now a solid staff body again who really know the children well - we really appreciate both the old faces and the new who came with the new management team. The new management has been exceptional and has worked so hard in really turning this nursery around, and communicating with us regularly.

Since the new management has come in we have been really impressed with all the changes and improvements made. The communication to parents is open and honest and we really feel like we're part of the journey to improving the nursery. They have updated many policies and procedures to give assurance about our daughter's safety and we love reading the observations each week. It's a welcoming environment - parents are encouraged to see what the children get up to and we are very happy.

My children have made great friends. We've been on holiday with nursery friends. I've also made great friends through the nursery.

We moved our daughter to this nursery from another setting, and we're so pleased with how quickly she settled in compared to her previous nursery. We genuinely feel we made the right decision.

The great reviews were one of the reasons we chose this nursery, and we can now say they truly reflect the quality of care. Our daughter is in the baby room, and the staff are incredibly caring, attentive and gentle with the babies.

Having iCam access gives us extra peace of mind, as we can see our daughter throughout the day. What we see on the camera matches exactly what the staff tell us, which gives us complete confidence in their care.

The staff are wonderful, and the detailed updates we receive at pick-up are always so reassuring. We couldn't be happier with our decision to change nurseries.

Our experience of Little Forest Folk has been incredible, Leo's loved everyday he's been there, Karlenne and the team are amazing, he has a fantastic time there exploring the forest, doing various activities at base camp daily. His speech has come on incredibly well too since he's been there and given him so much confidence. One of the best things is that he feel so safe in the environment and that for us as parents is all we can ask for. Highly recommend Little Forest Folk Winkworth.

Overall we're so happy we chose to stay, our daughter is happy and cared for and the last piece to the puzzle will be a permanent manager.

Barnkids have made tremendous steps forward in the last few months following the arrival of a new manager. Every week, the communications are thorough about the changes being made, and this makes us hugely hopeful it's all moving in the right direction and back to the Barnkids it once was.

Regardless of all of this, the most wonderful thing to see is how happy my child is, and that's not changed. He's ALWAYS come out of nursery happy about his day and talks very fondly of nursery. He's made friendships with other toddlers and is developing well, and all of this reflects the care he gets whilst he's there.

As unsettling as the recent Ofstead was, it doesn't detract from the happy, well cared for child that comes home from nursery and the joy we experience at drop off and pick up knowing he's in a great place.

Highlight - the garden spaces are wonderful! Big spaces, age appropriate, and used regularly in all weathers. Free range babies. The rooms are all homely too

Our daughter has attended Barnkids since she was 10 months old and is now almost three. We understand the seriousness of the March 2026 Ofsted report, but as current parents we've experienced a huge transformation since.

The new leadership team has made remarkable improvements. We now have complete confidence in the nursery. The staff are stable, caring and know our daughter, helping her learn, grow and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

Communication is excellent, with detailed handovers, thoughtful observations and regular updates. It feels like a genuine partnership, with our daughter's individual needs coming first.

Learning is purposeful and engaging, the environment is calm and organised, and we've appreciated the openness around ongoing improvements, including to forest school.

Most importantly, our daughter absolutely loves nursery and has grown enormously in confidence, independence and curiosity. This review reflects our experience as current parents.

Our son loves his time at Little Forest Folk and is really thriving there. He's always happy to go in and enjoys spending so much time outdoors.

We moved him from a different nursery in the area at the beginning of the year and we are so glad we did. The staff are great and have always been kind, supportive and approachable. Most importantly, we trust them completely, which makes a huge difference as parents.

We've been really happy with our experience and would definitely recommend Little Forest Folk Winkworth to other families.

We removed our child because of safety concerns, and following the recently published Ofsted report this definitely makes us feel like we made the right decision. Concerns include food and allergy safety, and unfenced areas in the forest school near open water when children are allowed to play out of sight and earshot. The key worker system doesn't work because of such high staff turnover and so many agency staff. Very infrequent observations, despite telling parents they'd reviewed this and would be sending them every week we'd be lucky to get one a fortnight. Extremely poor communication from management about issues. It used to be a lovely place when it was a family owned business but it's been sold to a chain and has gone further and further downhill since.

We recommend this nursery to all looking for a safe fun place for their child. From the facilities to the staff and food and activities they are all 5 star and both my boys love it there. They have both come on leaps and bounds.

Lilliputs has been wonderful my daughter is 17months old and has been attending Lilliputs since she was 4 months old - highly recommend this nursery for their organised, fun and caring staff! My daughter always comes home super happy and never wants to leave!

From the very beginning, starting in baby room, we have had a great experience at Lilliput. It's never easy leaving your child in the care of others but our daughter has always loved going to nursery. Not only does she love going but her speech and development has significantly improved. Our second daughter starts at the nursery later this year and I am sure will have a great experience.

My daughter is my second child that I've now sent to Lilliput she started in the new year and she is loving it she's only 10 months old and has progressed just from the 2 days she's at the nursery a week. They were brilliant with my son and now have been good with my daughter I would definetly recommend it to anyone

The staff are all very friendly and warm. They clearly care about the children and give a lot of feedback about their day and their progress. They also make sure there are lots of settling in sessions before starting or moving up a class, which is reassuring and gives the child the time to adjust. The app is super useful - it's great to see what they are eating during the day and how much of it. The recent renovations look great too!

Our daughter has been at Liliputs since July 2025 and we have been so pleased with how much she loves her time there. The staff are so friendly, caring and supportive, always being so attentive and respectful to the children and parents.

Our daughter settled in so well when she first started in the baby room, and has since enjoyed moving up a room and exploring/learning more. The facilities are lovely, they are always doing activities and going outside, and the food is varied and nutritious.

The app has made it really easy to check in on how she is doing, communicate with management if needed, and best of all getting lovely photos and observations on what she's been up to and learning.

My eldest has been at Lilliput for 2 and a half years, and my littlest for 6 months now. They both absolutely love it and we're so happy with our choice! All of the staff are incredible, they put so much effort into creating fun activities and good learning activities. The multiple rooms allows for continuous exploration and development. They've invested so much recently into creating even lovelier spaces. The menu is incredible, they're focused on giving the children a healthy and varied diet. The focus on environment, looking after the chickens, planting in the garden is all wonderful. I would highly recommend Lilliput to any prospective parents, looking for a kind, nurturing, fun and educational environment for their kids!

The setting remains lovely & there is a lot of potential but the recent management and communication are poor.

Both my children attend Ashburton. My eldest has attended since a baby and is now in the Preschool room. We have really appreciated the consistency and friendliness of the staff.

They do interesting activities and my little ones particularly love the cooking club and all the crafts they do there. Often they have learning elements mixed in with their play e.g. phonics, counting etc. We get thorough updates from the staff at pickup and sometimes throughout the day via the app.

We like that they get outside often in the garden and always come home happily after a busy day!

Can't recommend the team at Ashburton enough, our eldest has had the most amazing time and always comes home with a smile. She does 3 days a week and absolutely loves it, her development and the activities that they provide are amazing and every staff member is so kind and happy to talk about how her day was. Our youngest will be attending soon when she's old enough.
