Excellent nursery. They have taken good care of both of my children over many years. We trust them fully with our children. They are all wonderful and caring. They identified my son's speech delay which was very helpful and we could address this early.

Best nursery in Winchester by far. We have been to other nurseries however this nursery is best by far. All staff are very friendly, welcoming and supportive. Both our girls have flourished being here. Our 3 year old has great knowledge of numbers, patterns and phonics which she has gained from this
setting. Our 1 year old has come out of her shell and improved her speech massively which her previous nursery was unable to do. Both our children get excited for Mondays as they get to see their amazing teachers.

After choosing a nursery that didn't suit my son, I can't tell you how relieved I am in finding this gem. We haven't been here long, but we are so glad we moved him, he is thriving. From the start the staff tailored their approach to his needs. As a nervous boy, he needed extra settling in sessions
to which they supported him wtih patience & understanding. Now he comes home buzzing from all the stimulation & learning. We love the menu choice - healthy, homemade & varied & the fact he can access the outdoor space whenever he wants. The staff are always welcoming & I appreciate how open they are to parents visiting & seeing children in their environment. Communication is clear & efficient from all & app updates are consistent & reassuring.

Our daughter has been at Maples for 3 months now and the care has been excellent. The settling in process was really well planned and thought-through - gentle for my daughter and for me as we both got used to it! The updates you get throughout the day are really reassuring. All of the nursery workers
have great relationships with the children and I feel absolutely confident that I'm leaving my child somewhere safe. The children do varied activities and they're clearly kept busy. The outdoor space in the baby room is quite limited, but the outdoor spaces for the older children are much bigger.

Our eldest son had a brilliant time in his 2 years at Maples Nursery - he was always really well looked after, provided with great activities and lovely meals. He loved the outdoor space and every member of staff, no matter the room they worked in, knew our son by name and were warm and friendly.

As

parents who moved our son from another nursery setting, we could not have been more pleased with the running and management at Maples - the care was always reliable and the communication brilliant.

We couldn't be happier with this nursery. We have two boys there and they both absolutely love it - they're excited to go in each morning and come home full of stories about what they've been up to.

The staff are genuinely lovely: warm, patient and clearly care about the children as individuals. We

always feel confident that our boys are safe, supported and having fun while they learn. It's such a relief as a parent to know they're in such a positive, nurturing environment. We're really grateful to the whole team for everything they do.

Our little boy is in the Caterpillars room and settled in really quickly thanks to the amazing staff! He's grown really fond of them and has grown in confidence since starting. The room and outdoor space always seem really clean and the staff are really friendly and keep us informed of what he's done
that day and how he's progressed. Overall we're really pleased with the care he receives at Maples!

My wife and I were very nervous about sending our little boy to nursery, however West Downs and the team instantly put us at ease. From day one we have felt very comfortable and confident in sending our son here. He has been incredibly happy, developing and learning daily and we are chuffed with how
genuine the staff's affection seems to be with him. We would recommend West Downs to everyone.

We have loved having our daughter (21 months) at West Downs. In particular we feel so lucky that the staff are so caring. After a lot of maternal anxiety with settling in when she started at 11 months I have seen her thrive. This is a huge part to the relationship she has developed with the fabulous
team. Thank you!

My son has been attending West Downs since Jan 25. My experience with the nursery has been incredibly positive and reassuring. From the very beginning, the staff have been warm, nurturing, and genuinely attentive to my child's individual needs. I've seen so much growth - not just in confidence and
independence, but also in social skills and early learning. The communication with parents has been excellent, keeping me informed and involved every step of the way. It's been wonderful to see my child so happy and excited to go in each day, which gives me great peace of mind knowing they are in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment. I visited many other nurseries in Winchester and i am so glad we chose West Downs. The staff are truly amazing and it feels like we belong to a large family. I highly recommend West Downs.

My child has been at the nursery since they were nearly a year old and they are now 4. I have had consistently fantastic communication and care for my child and no query has been too much. My child has been through every room at the nursery and has made great progress. The Senco has been great with
providing the extra support that has been needed and all my child's key people have been great and all staff have made an effort to make sure that my child is happy.

The activities that my child talks about when they come home seem to fire his imagination and have created lots of imaginative play at home as well as at nursery. The food that is cooked on site is very nutritious and always seems to be enjoyed by my child and has lead to some dishes having to be recreated at home. I am sad that my child has entered their last year at pre school but would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone who needs great childcare:

Our son is so happy at Maples. He has been there for two years now and our daughter starts shortly. Everyone is so friendly and caring, there is a fantastic range of activities (including lots of outdoor time) and great food! Our son genuinely doesn't want to come home at the end of the day! Transitions
between rooms have been really well managed and we've had lots of support with some big life changes, like the arrival of baby sister, moving house and potty training. Such a wonderful experience - thank you!

Maples is a wonderful environment for our 1 year old daughter- engaged staff, great facilities and wonderful support. The outdoor spaces, fantastic on site cooked food & nutritionally backed menu, huge variety of activities created for children are just some of the highlights. We love Maples and so
does our daughter. Have recommended to lots of friends who have since also jumped on the wait list.

My son is always very happy when I pick him up, and always busy doing something. In the room he's in there is plenty of space and equipment/toys for him to play with. They take him outside as much as they can.
Most importantly, the staff are lovely and very caring, and form good bonds with the children.

Our son left maples to start school, and I just wanted to thank the staff at Maples Winchester for all their hard work and the wonderful pre school room that they have created, it is such a wonderful space inside and out. All of the staff have been so kind to us and our son through his time and he has
flourished and learnt so much in preparation for school. I honestly think he is better prepared for school having been at Maples.
I also want to particularly thank Natalie and Aaron, who were so kind and patient with our son, they always spent time with him and made sure he was settled and happy and he looked forward to seeing both of them each day, we will always remember their kindness and work ethic to make pre school such a pleasurable place.
A big thank you to Paul for making such wonderful food and such a great variety, I couldn't believe what our son ate and how much he loved the food, he really looked forward to this each day.
Thank you everyone.

We are really glad we chose Maples for our children. Our son has just graduated and our daughter is currently in the 1-2 year old room. The super friendly and caring staff throughout the nursery have really helped. We love getting the updates on the app about the fun they have at nursery and they have
definitely helped prepare our son for school.

My overall experience of the nursery was good, though I had equally positive and negative aspects. As you get into the older rooms, it felt a little less like calm and a little more chaotic to me. I also had the unfortunate experience that my lactose intolerant toddler was given milk. Thankfully, his
reaction is mild and they noticed relatively quickly, but that was enough to raise serious concerns from a safeguarding perspective.
While the staff are caring and professional (with most being excellent), I felt management was less so. After a year at the nursery and as a single parent (due to less flexibility) I requested a non-policy/tues-thurs booking pattern, I (1) relied on their written assurance it would be granted "when possible" (2) waited ~6 months (3) noted other two-parent households availing such a booking pattern and (4) followed up, only to be advised we would not be granted such a pattern due to policy. This understandably left a bitter taste and prompted our departure
Reply from Alex Algieri, Nursery Manager at Maples Day Nursery (Winchester)Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear you had an overall positive experience at our nursery and found our team to be caring and professional. We are truly sorry that your child was given milk despite their lactose intolerance, we have reviewed our procedures with the team to ensure continued vigilance around all dietary requirements and allergies. Please be assured that the wellbeing and safeguarding of every child is our highest priority. Regarding your booking pattern request, we understand this was disappointing. Our nursery booking policies are designed to balance family needs with operational requirements, staffing, and maintaining consistency for all children. While we aim to accommodate requests "when possible," some patterns cannot be granted without impacting operational stability. All decisions are made in line with these policies, and your request was assessed fairly alongside all families needs. We wish you all the best for the future.
