Sandfield Day Nursery is large purpose built day nursery with caring and dedicated staff, situated in the grounds of the John Radcliffe Hospital to care for the children of the Trust employees and local community. They have also obtained their Green Flag Eco-Schools Award.

Friendly and well established, the nursery provides a happy, sociable environment where every child is treated as an individual. The nursery has rooms for each individual age group with a specialist baby unit and spacious gardens that provide an excellent outdoor environment.

There is always a lovely feel in Sandfield nursery; all the staff seem to enjoy their work and love the kids. They have really helped my little boy to settle in and feel confident at nursery. There is also lots of help and flexibility with finding the right schedule for your child and working out the
complexities of tax-free childcare accounts.
This is our second child that Sandfield have looked after, and I think that is a great recommendation in itself.

Our son has been at Sandfields since 2019. We have always been impressed by the professionalism and kindness of the staff. Our son has thrived under their care and would wholly recommend. I have had such a great experience at Sandfields so far. My son absolutely loves going to nursery and has a really lovely connection with the staff there, who are all very friendly and caring. One of the things I love most about Sandfields is the freedom the children have to explore in a safe environment.
In addition, an array of different activities are provided to help children learn and discover. As a parent, I find the weekly newsletters sent out by the nursery very informative, as they explain different schemas children at different ages experience and also provide activities we can do at home to further the children's learning.

We're really lucky to be so conveniently located to use Sandfield. Lovely nursery; really great staff, who take time to make our daughter's day exciting. She loves going; often asks if she can go at weekends. Have been using Sandfield now for almost 2-years, and we could not be happier.

We have used Sandfield nursery for all three of our children and have always known they are well cared for and looked after. The staff looking after the children are always so friendly and welcoming and help them settle in quickly. The resources and space for the kids are brilliant. There are lots of
opportunities for them to learn and enjoy the company of other little ones. The staff work so hard to keep the activities varied and interesting. We’ve enjoyed lots of family/parent events, where we can see what the children have been doing too. We recommend Sandfields to anyone who asks for a nursery recommendation!

We had a great experience at the Sandfield Nursery! We started during lockdown without the chance to see the rooms and all the staff, but each one made a huge effort to make the process as smooth as possible, and the happiness of our daughter to get in each day was the best readout. We have also been
really happy about the room change transition they have done because we have seen no stress in our little one, although to us, it seemed a huge change. Thanks also for the work done to support bilinguals!

Currently on my second child to pass through Sandfield. I have found all the staff (without exception) to be wonderful with my children - they have been able to build a good relationship with my sons and made them feel secure and happy. It has given me great peace of mind to have such a fantastic team

My child started at Sandfield shortly after she turned one. I was very nervous about this transition, but I am so glad we have had the team around her, a really extended family around her. Sandfield has provided her and us, her parents, with security, love, support and guidance. Our child has now left,
and although she loved nursery, she is super excited to start school, and I see this as an example of how the team around her have helped to prepare her for the transition. We still regularly play nurseries and get divided into groups with all her previous keyworkers and friends. The time she and we have had with Sandfield is a time we will never forget and one that we will always be thankful for.

Our son was very happy at Sandfield Nursery. The staff managed to build a good rapport with him, and he liked the toys and garden there. He made a lot of good friends and he still speaks about the nursery staff, even now that he has moved on to school. This is an excellent nursery and I can only recommend

I am very pleased with Sandfield Day Nursery. My son started attending when he was 10-months-old and left to start his reception year at school. He went through all the different rooms at the nursery and had different key persons. I cannot express how grateful I am for the amazing staff I have come

We have been so impressed with Sandfield Day Nursery after receiving many positive recommendations from colleagues. My son started in March and has settled in really well. The staff made every effort to settle him in, and he quickly started to really enjoy his days there, arriving with a huge smile
on his face. All of the staff are so friendly, and we have been particularly happy with the girls in the Caterpillar room.
Although you have an allocated key worker, we have got to know all of the girls in my son's room, who all take an active interest in him. He has become so much more confident and has developed lots of his motor and social/communication skills.
He sleeps really well there, eats all of their yummy food, and loves playing in the garden whenever he can.
I would highly recommend Sandfield to family and friends.

We have been so impressed with the care, attention and support that our children have received at Sandfield nursery. Our daughter has absolutely loved Sandfield. The staff in her room clearly know her so well and have made her feel very secure, and it has been lovely to see her flourish there. We have seen her develop in leaps and bounds whilst having so much fun.


She had some difficulties moving up to a room

with some much older children at the same time as she became a big sister, and I was very impressed with the speed and flexibility with which this was handled by the manager, who called me up within an hour of my email to discuss options.


We would absolutely recommend Sandfield to our friends!

Very happy with this nursery. The staff are all lovely, friendly, welcoming and look after all the children very well. Good feedback, good food, variety of different activities and educational topics each week. Excellent opening, hours and all things provided for the little people. I cannot fault them

Our son has been at Sandfield Day Nursery (Oxford) for the past 3 years, and we are very sad to leave (as we are moving overseas). He started as a 7-month-old, and has been well looked after at every stage of his development. He is a naturally confident (and very bossy) toddler, and the staff have encouraged
his good traits and worked with us on his more challenging behaviours. As a result, he has bloomed. Sandfield has also been incredibly helpful and supportive over the whole Covid period, dealing well with all the challenges that have arisen. I have no hesitation in recommending Sandfield to anyone. If we were staying in Oxford we would definitely keep our son (and his baby brother) there as long as we could!

I am very happy with how my son is getting on at nursery, the attention and care he receives whilst at Sandfield is second to none and I can’t thank his key workers enough for the time they spend with him. The staff at the Nursery have all been friendly to me and my whole family and are all very welcoming
when ever I drop off or collect Edward. The strict measures put in place throughout the pandemic have been fantastic and has really eased any concern originally had. Overall a brilliant Nursery all round.

My daughter attended the nursery for a year and we were so pleased with our decision. Staff was very welcoming and warm. They took care of every small need of my daughter and made her comfortable all day long. The learning sessions were quite interactive and helped her to grow, understand and learn
in a playful manner. She learnt most of the rhymes and performed with actions. The team was very supportive and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed her time in the nursery. Thank you for showering your love and blessings on her and making her happy throughout the day.

Kim is the Manager of Sandfield Day Nursery in Headington and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 30 years. Kim has an NVQ Level 3 and 4 in Management and has worked for Childbase Partnership for 25 years.


What is your favourite feature of Sandfield?
My favourite feature of the nursery is our large age-appropriate garden which contains many features designed to nurture the imagination. All age groups have daily access to the area and also use it for eco-activities such as insect observations and vegetable planting.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I am most proud of the team's dedication.
