Sandfield Day Nursery is large purpose built day nursery with caring and dedicated staff, situated in the grounds of the John Radcliffe Hospital to care for the children of the Trust employees and local community. They have also obtained their Green Flag Eco-Schools Award.

Friendly and well established, the nursery provides a happy, sociable environment where every child is treated as an individual. The nursery has rooms for each individual age group with a specialist baby unit and spacious gardens that provide an excellent outdoor environment.

Sandfield is a really wonderful nursery. Our 7 month old loves her time there and is very found of her carers who are all very attentive and kind. They have also greatly helped in the weaning process and in helping her work towards all her other milestones.

A fantastic nursery which my child loves going to. Every body from the lady at reception to the individual carers are great. We are lucky to have our baby boy there. He is excited at the idea of going in the morning and often wants to stay a little longer when we go to pick him up.

The staff are very loving and attentive- our daughter (2.5y) talks about them constantly. The activities are fantastic - each day they do something fun and stimulating. The food is high quality and they help foster good eating habits by all kids self serving, helping to get bowls out etc. We receive
lots of information about how the day goes and you can tell the staff genuinely care about the children. We feel absolutely happy leaving our child in their care as we know how well she will be looked after. Thank you!

Sandfields has been a family from 11 months old till four years old when we graduated and left to enter reception term! Sandfields is a family and we have been very well supported, our son has thrived throughout. The bond with some of the nursery staff has been truly strong and it was truly emotional
when we left but we were also best prepared for the next chapter!

Our two children attended Sandfield for over 3 years, and both really loved their time there. The staff were warm and friendly to both us and the children, with the children often keen to return to nursery and discuss their weekends or holidays. The outdoor facilities are excellent, as are the hours.
The location is obviously ideal for those working at the hospital. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sandfield to friends or family.

Great experience for my son, over 2 years, he enjoyed the nursery. The environment is clean and very welcoming, indeed my son always had a nice time, learning a few things as a child. All staff are very nice and helpful, some of them are very emotional doing their job. My second child will attend the
nursery in one month and my wife and I are happy to join them again.

Sandfield is a wonderful nursery, our son loves going every day and some days I struggle to get him out of the room to go home! The staff all know him by name, even if they don’t work in his room, and all ask him how he is. His previous key worker still engages with him as if she is still his key worker
and all staff give every child the same undivided attention they would a parent. He is already eager to move up to preschool with a couple more months in his current room left, so no concerns about him moving rooms in Spring.
The setting is clean and inviting, and the menus are varied and expose the children to different flavours and textures.

Sandfield Nursery has been fantastic for my son. All of the staff seem to know him and help him settle in and enjoy each day he is there. The chance for outdoor play whenever possible has been wonderful and he absolutely loves it. He has fantastic key workers and a room that is welcoming, stimulating,
and all of the team go above and beyond to help meet his needs and nurture him. The Nursery's Sendco has also been incredible with support and encouragement both to my son, his key workers and to me. I love the community feel at Sandfield and am grateful for all they have done to support my son and help him reach his best potential.

Sandfield Day Nursery has been absolutely amazing for our daughter. Every member of staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming and will often give our daughter a wave and hello, even if they're not directly involved in looking after her. Our key worker and the room team have gone above and
beyond to help our daughter settle in, really getting to know her and her interests and the activities arranged day to day are brilliant - very stimulating and varied. We love seeing the updates and photos of what she's been up to during the day. There's a real sense of community at Sandfield's and we're hugely grateful for everything they do. Our daughter is very happy and loves nursery days!

Our children absolutely loved attending Sandfield nursery. The staff were always friendly and chatty and knew our children by name within a very short period from when they started (within a week). Everyone seemed kind and caring. Our children were happy and content and had lots of learning experiences
from the very start (at seven and nine months old) all the way through until they left (at three and four years old). We are all very sad to say goodbye to everyone at Sandfield.

Our son joined the pre-school room a year ago and we have been seriously impressed throughout - we thought our last nursery was good until our son started at Sandfield! The pre-school room is clearly intended as a transition and our son has learnt a lot. He has built amazing friendships over the last
year. Even when there was a little ‘unkindness’ from a couple of other children, this was dealt with in a considerate and professional way – we’ve not heard of any ‘unkindness’ since.
There is always something going on. There are two adjoining rooms plus the patio and a large shared garden. They are always learning something new, including a new vegetable garden. We have loved the annual summer fete, which has involved the usual activities plus farm animals!
We’ve been impressed with all the staff, including the lady on reception who has an amazing talent for remembering everyone’s names. To pick a recent example: the nursery graduation – the staff really went above and beyond.

Sending my daughter to Sandfield Day Nursery is the best choice we could have made. We were happy with everything they did and with the way she was taken care of and the learning she achieved. Everyone is so passionate and good in what they do. The main thing for me is that from day one I felt like
she was with family, in a totally safe place. I had full peace of mind from the moment I was dropping her - like as if she was at home with us. Completely trustworthy! We would recommend Sandfield to anyone!

Both my daughter and son spent four years at Sandfield and I cannot thank them enough for the amazing care and support they gave both our children and to myself. Sandfield Day Nursery is an excellent nursery and is very well run in all aspects.
The staff that work there are all friendly and helpful, from the ladies doing the admin side to the key workers and support workers, kitchen staff to the cleaning team who come in at the end of the day. Every single
member always greets myself and my daughter with a smile and a cheery hello, even if they do not directly look after my daughter.
The room staff are brilliant at keeping the children entertained, and the activities they come up with are always fun and engaging. The development I have seen in my daughter since starting it is incredible. The food is excellent and always gets demolished by my daughter, which is a great sign!
I can not recommend Sandfields highly enough - thank you for all your hard work.

Every single member of staff is exceptional. We could not have chosen a better setting to send our daughter to. She absolutely loves every day in ladybirds two, and I often have to take her home in tears because she wants to stay. It's like her second family.

We love having our daughter at Sandfield. She is happy to go there in the morning and happy when we pick her up again. The staff are super friendly, always good at welcoming her and us in the morning and also informing us on how her day has been. The space is lovely, colourful and bright, with lots
of great play areas - and often new themes, decorations and toys to attract the kid's attention and learning new stuff. We couldn't think of a better place for our daughter to be.

I can not praise and recommend this nursery enough. They have been so very supportive and adaptable - it has honestly made a difficult time in our lives that little bit easier. All of the staff make an effort to say hello, and they know your children. My children feel safe and comfortable there, which
makes dropping them off and the parent guilt everyone feels a lot easier. I have a child in pre-school who has thrived through the years he has been at the nursery. He loves being there, and I can already see how he is being prepared for the next transition to school. I also have a son in the Caterpillar's room, and the ladies in here are amazing. They care for your child with such love and compassion. Always there with a cuddle if they are upset. They also care for you as a parent, sticking to our routine and never being too busy to update us on how the child is. On top of that, the supporting staff are brilliant, and the manager always has time for you. We are so grateful for Sandfield Day Nursery.

The team in Ladybirds one have been outstanding. They are creative in how they entertain the children, attentive and compassionate. We receive regular updates on our little one's progress and have been really pleased with how she has settled into the nursery.

What a special place Sandfield is. We have been with Sandfield since 2018, with our second daughter starting just before Christmas. The team there is what makes this place what it is; a warm, nurturing environment that allows the children to grow socially, emotionally and academically. From the manager
to the practitioners and supporting staff, they all play a key role in ensuring the children get the best possible deal. The nursery is a logistical nightmare for us to get to, but we have made that sacrifice because we have not been able to find a nursery that comes even close to what we get at Sandfield. The space the children have inside and out is brilliant, the activities that are provided are fun and stimulating, the food is excellent, and the care they provide is nothing short of amazing. In our four years there, we have never had a single thing to complain about. I would 100% recommend this nursery.

Kim is the Manager of Sandfield Day Nursery in Headington and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 30 years. Kim has an NVQ Level 3 and 4 in Management and has worked for Childbase Partnership for 25 years.


What is your favourite feature of Sandfield?
My favourite feature of the nursery is our large age-appropriate garden which contains many features designed to nurture the imagination. All age groups have daily access to the area and also use it for eco-activities such as insect observations and vegetable planting.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I am most proud of the team's dedication.
