What a special place Sandfield is. We have been with Sandfield since 2018, with our second daughter starting just before Christmas. The team there is what makes this place what it is; a warm, nurturing environment that allows the children to grow socially, emotionally and academically. From the manager
to the practitioners and supporting staff, they all play a key role in ensuring the children get the best possible deal. The nursery is a logistical nightmare for us to get to, but we have made that sacrifice because we have not been able to find a nursery that comes even close to what we get at Sandfield. The space the children have inside and out is brilliant, the activities that are provided are fun and stimulating, the food is excellent, and the care they provide is nothing short of amazing. In our four years there, we have never had a single thing to complain about. I would 100% recommend this nursery.

We love, love, love this nursery! Both our children have gone here (five years old now in Reception at Primary School), and the three-year-old is still here. I can't speak highly enough about all the staff, absolutely every member of them is so lovely, so caring, so thoughtful with the children. It
is like sending them to a family member, rather than a nursery. The food is healthy and always prepared with the childrens nutrition at the heart of it (with the odd biscuit here or there!), down to Birthday cakes on their birthdays. They honestly are the best - very gutted they don't do after-school club for our 5-year-old or he would be there in a heartbeat! Love, love, love this nursery.

The Sandfield team has been super with our little boy. I don't think we could have asked for a better nursery, and all the staff are simply amazing. We miss them dearly.
The staff really put the effort in to get to know your child and are always there to help out. Our son has been extremely happy throughout
his stay at Sandfield, and we have been most impressed at how the nursery adjusted over the Covid pandemic. Great staff and a lovely and nurturing environment.

Sandfield Day Nursery have looked after my children from babies and it has been a second home for them. The staff are warm and caring but also help children learn social skills. The children were always well fed and often would be more adventurous with new foods at nursery than at home. The support
through the pandemic was excellent. When I needed urgent childcare in a family crisis, the team made an extra effort to accommodate my children.

Our daughter has now been at Sandfield Day Nursery for a year; she is moving to her third room next week. The staff have been wonderful throughout. She is clearly thriving and growing with every move up, as she should be. The setting is very personal, and everyone deeply cares about the children. She
loves the staff dearly, and we are very lucky to have found such a great nursery for her.

I have nothing but excellent comments for this nursery. My son attended here from the age of 1 until pre-school, and I had no hesitation in sending my daughter here. She started at the age of 9 months and has just turned two. My children's development has been exceptional whilst attending Sandfield.
The team picked up an eye condition my son devolved at the age of one, and we’re excellent with his ongoing eye care and patching.
The team at Sandfield are familiar and friendly faces who are always welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
My daughter loves going to nursery as there is always lots going on, and she loves the team; my son still likes to go in and visit everyone at pick-up time.

I would definitely recommend Sandfield to anyone. I was nervous about my daughter starting nursery, but needn't have been. Sandfield's team were so supportive and genuine throughout her setting in, and my daughter has thrived since starting. She has learnt so much and absolutely loves coming in. She
always has a smile on her face. I have confidence in the team - they all have the children's best interest at heart and go above and beyond! Everyone knows my daughter's name, which feels so personable and her allergies have also been extremely well catered for. She is so well looked after her. We love it.

We have been thrilled with Sandfield Nursery for our one-year-old daughter. The staff were enormously kind and supportive during the settling-in period and have got to know her really well. Communication is excellent, and we always get a thorough handover at the end of the day about how she has been.
It's made my return to work so much better knowing she's in safe and loving hands. Her key worker has shown genuine delight and pride in her when she has hit new milestones like standing, walking and saying her first words, and it is very clear that my daughter adores her.

My son has been with this nursery for many months, and the development of his confidence is remarkable. He has been in two rooms and has flourished in both, particularly the development of his communication skills.
The activities he takes part in are extremely well thought out in terms of allowing
him to be creative and to express himself, something he brings home with him all the time, and I have seen first hand the attention the staff give him and the freedom they give him to explore and learn.
We receive updates on his activities through the app, and the quality and detail provided are exceptional. We feel like we've shared in some of his activities through these updates, and it's hard to overstate how much we value these.
I cannot thank the staff at Sandfield enough for their patience, support, great humour and the focus they give to my son's development.

My son is really happy here, and the staff are caring. He started in the baby room Caterpillars and now is in Ladybirds 2. They keep a log of my son's day and post it on the app, so I can log in and see what he is doing. Lovely to see photos of my son at nursery. There are flexible if you want to change
days from full time to 4-days. The meals are nutritious, and they give medicines if needed without any fuss. There are designated drop off car spaces outside the nursery. Opening hours are flexible for working parents; 7 am-6:30 pm. I would recommend.

Our 3-year-old daughter loves going to pre-school at Sandfield. The staff are warm, caring, enthusiastic and brilliantly creative at thinking of fun activities to entertain and teach the children in their care.
There is a fantastic balance between indoor and outdoor play and always plenty to keep
the children engaged. The food is great, and the culture of the children all sitting together at mealtime is lovely to see and teaches them good table manners. The staff go out of their way to make Sandfield a fun and exciting place to be, even during the recent Covid pandemic when this could not have always been easy for them!

The assessment reports in the app are in detail and frequent. The best feedback is from my child, who despite not being able to talk, goes to hug the carers when she goes into her room. I feel she is in very capable and caring hands.

Our daughter started at Sandfield when she was 6-months. She is nearly two now and has been so happy since the first day! She has really grown and thrived there, all of which wouldn't have been possible without the care, attention and support from the team. The activities at the nursery have been fantastic
with various focus on different aspects of early year learning and a good combination of structured/free play. The garden is lovely, and the baby room has its designated garden too. We speak a different language at home but are hoping to raise her as bilingual. The staff have been tremendously helpful in encouraging her to use English at nursery, and it is amazing to see her confidence grow day by day. I will recommend Sandfield without any reservation!

Both my children (6 and 2) have been through Sandfield in the last 4-years we’ve been in Oxford. My wife and I have been very impressed with the care and attention the children receive. The staff really are excellent and form genuine relationships with the children. The best feedback is from the kids
themselves, who always look forward to going to nursery.

Our daughter is three now and started at Sandfield Day Nursery 2-years ago. We could not be happier; the nursery is such a welcoming environment, and my daughter absolutely loves it. The staff are well trained and so experienced; they are always ready to respond to our child's individual needs. I have
often been amazed at the speed in which my daughter has learnt, despite the fact she is learning three languages. We would highly recommend this nursery.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.893) out of 10 for Sandfield Day Nursery (Oxford) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.893 for Sandfield Day Nursery (Oxford) is calculated as follows: ( (308 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 336 Ratings = 4.893
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sandfield Day Nursery (Oxford) is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 128 number of registered child places is 25.6, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
