Holyrood Nursery Dryden Street

Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
The nursery serves the University of Manchester. It is prominently advertised to staff and came highly recommended when we signed up our child.

Our child attended the nursery January 2025 to January 2026. Our initial experiences were good, despite a difficult settling-in period, and we were impressed

with the experience and dedication of the staff in the Toddler room, but less so with the Early Years settings and an overall lack of leadership.

The nursery has seen a prolonged period of change since September 2025, which involved the resignation of the management team and a significant amount of permanent staff, and an increased reliance on agency staff. Ofsted has served a number of well-fare notices since December 2025, some of which are still outstanding, and has carried out several inspections, along with visits from the Local Authority. While we acknowledge that some efforts are being made to address the concerns, we currently would not recommend the nursery.

Reply from Jenni McDougall, Operations Project Manager at Holyrood Nursery Dryden StreetThank you for taking the time to share your experience. Were really sorry to hear that your confidence in the nursery has been impacted, particularly during a period of significant change.

We truly value your kind words about the Toddler Room team, and we recognise the concerns youve raised around leadership, staffing changes, and consistency of care. This has been a challenging time for the nursery, and we understand how unsettling this can feel for families.

Please be assured that we are taking all feedback and external guidance, including from Ofsted and the Local Authority, very seriously. Strengthening our leadership, rebuilding a stable staff team, and ensuring the highest standards of care and safety are our absolute priorities.

We appreciate your honesty and the time your child spent with us, and we are committed to making the improvements needed to rebuild trust with our families.

Holyrood truly is an amazing nursery. As first-time parents, we were so nervous about leaving our daughter, but we really didn't need to be. It's a relaxed, nurturing environment that reassures both children and parents. I always felt calm and confident leaving her in their capable care.

The babies

team and management are wonderful - so warm and welcoming. In the 7 months she attended, our daughter came on in leaps and bounds. Unfortunately, we moved house and Holyrood became too far away.

At drop-off and pick-up, staff always listened and provided detailed updates - especially Donna in babies, who gave a lovely rundown of each day. The education is phenomenal and shines through in the children. The app updates, including regular photos, are a joy to receive.

We're still so sad to have left such a fantastic nursery.

We still miss you Holyrood - Lilliannas Mum x

Reply from Jenni McDougall, Operations Project Manager at Holyrood Nursery SwintonThank you so much for your wonderful review, Lillianna's Mum. It truly means the world to us that you trusted us with Lillianna during such an important stage of her early years. We know how nerve-wracking it can feel leaving your child for the first time, so we're delighted that our team could help you feel calm and confident.

Our Babies Team and management will be so pleased to hear your kind words, and Donna will especially love knowing how much you appreciated her daily updates. It was such a pleasure to watch Lillianna grow and develop during her time with us - she really did come on in leaps and bounds.

We're so sad that distance means you had to move on, but we're incredibly grateful that Holyrood could be part of your family's journey for those 7 months. Please remember you'll always be part of the Holyrood family, and we'd love to hear how Lillianna is getting on.

Sending our very best wishes to you both, and thank you again for such a heartfelt review.

My daughter has attended Corner House since she was 10 months old in 2024, welcome by the amazing Allison from the baby room. From day one we were supported with her transition to nursery. Our daughter has been treated with love and patience, always supported with her feeding (dairy free menu) / mobility
and championed by all the staff at Corner House. We feel that our daughter has always been included regardless of her additional needs (present due to her disability). The Corner House staff have worked with us and welcomed visits from the TEDS Team / Physio to further her development. We are grateful for such a personalised and nurturing environment!

My daughter has loved this nursery since the first day she started. She's been in the baby room, toddler room and 2-3 years room and will soon be going into the preschool room. Staff members are so caring, friendly and are very proactive with the children. One thing that stood out to me about this nursery
when I was viewing was how they interact with the children and the educational activities they do every day - lots of creative tasks, singing, reading, dancing, building and lots of outdoor exploring and play (and much more!) Thank you so much Holyrood Road Salford Royal for all that you do for my daughter. My youngest is also due to start in the baby room next week! I couldn't recommend this nursery more!

Holyrood Nursery has been brilliant for my son! He didn't attend any nursery setting until he started in September 2025 and he absolutely loves it! My son has additional needs and since starting at nursery he has come on leaps and bounds! His social skills are amazing, his ability to listen and follow
instructions has improved greatly and his speech is now starting to come on too! The staff are so wonderful and patient and keep my son engaged with many fun activities. This nursery is brilliant for any child with additional needs. The SENCO has started to put in place everything for my son for his diagnosis and continues to put things in place to help my son grow and learn at his pace. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough. Thank you to all the wonderful staff, you mean a lot to me and my little boy!

Usually after the Christmas period it takes time for my son to get settled again, yet this time he was overjoyed to go back, running in with such excitement in his actions and speech

Holyrood Nursery Dryden Street

My child was there for over 2 years and left this January 26. My original plan was to keep her there until she went to primary school. However, lots changes in September 2025, followed a wave of staff resigned, it is so hard to communicate with the new management team and issues happened one after another.
Now lots of new staff or agency staff there.

Because of the numbers of complains in late 2025, Ofsted carried out two visits within 2-3monthes. Ofsted served a Welfare Requirements Notice to Holyrood Dryden in December 2025. Ofsted are due to carry up a follow up regulatory visit on or soon after 26 Jan 2026. Please see most recent Ofsted report.

Reply from Jenni McDougall, Operations Project Manager at Holyrood Nursery Dryden StreetThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to hear that your child's final months with us did not meet your expectations, especially after such a long and meaningful time in our care.

We recognise that the period from September 2025 onward brought significant change, including staff transitions and leadership adjustments. We understand how unsettling this can feel for families, and we regret any communication challenges or concerns this may have caused.

We appreciate your review and take all feedback seriously. We are actively working to address every requirement, strengthen our staffing stability, improve communication with families, and ensure consistent, high-quality care. A follow-up visit is expected on or shortly after 26 January 2026, and we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate progress.

We appreciate your child being part of our community for over two years, and we genuinely wish your family every success and happiness in the future.

I previously had my son at another nursery but decided to move him for numerous reasons. After looking at nurseries in the local area, my son ran to play in this one straight away and we knew this was the one for him. Hannah was very helpful in showing us around and answering any questions we had. Also
reassuring us that our son's needs would be met daily.
Since starting, my son has come on leaps and bounds and is supported daily in his learning. The girls at the nursery are amazing.
Thankyou so much.

My child attended Dryden Street for 1 year (2024-2025), until we removed her due to significant safety concerns. Poor management, poor communication with staff and parents, and a complete disregard for children's safety meant that we were no longer happy leaving our child there. The nursery uses significant
numbers of transient agency staff who cannot form adequate relationships with the children. Management have been quite confrontational when dealing when parental complaints, and a number of staff have recently left including both managers (one of 23 years service, the other 7 years) which speaks about environment within.
As of December 2025, the nursery is under an Ofsted Welfare Requirements Notice - which can be seen on Ofsteds website. I would advise reading this before you consider sending your child here.
Reply from Jenni McDougall, Operations Project Manager at Holyrood Nursery Dryden StreetThank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how upsetting this must have been.
We acknowledge that this was a challenging period for the nursery, and we have taken the concerns raised very seriously. Since then, we have been working hard to strengthen our leadership, staffing stability, communication, and safeguarding practices.
Feedback such as this is important to us, and our priority remains the safety, happiness, and development of every child in our care. We are committed to continuous improvement and rebuilding trust through our actions moving forward.

My son has recently moved here and he is so happy to go to nursery and always in a good mood when we collect him.
He's settled so quick and his behaviour and attitude has improved drastically after a negative experience elsewhere.
He's back to my happy, lovely little boy after such a short period
since starting and I cant thank the staff enough.
I wish we had found this little gem sooner!

When my son started, it was very difficult for him as he's not been to a nursery before the staff was great with me and my son and any time I need a bit of help or advice they're always there for me. I would definitely recommend nature Kindergarten fry childcare education nursery to anyone who's looking
for a nursery, just wanna say a massive thank you to all the staff who work with my son Jake.

My daughter recently started here and honestly I can't thank them enough! The nursery was so perfect from our very first visit. The staff are all knowledgeable and make you feel welcome, you never feel a burden no matter how many times you call in a day or how many questions you ask. The menu is varied
and the food smells lovely when you come in. The day and activities all feel well organised, honestly we are so grateful to all the staff here and could not have picked a better nursery for our precious child

Our son is having a wonderful time at Holyrood! The staff are all amazing and look after him so well every day. They plan loads of fun things for the children to do and take them outside as much as possible, which he loves! The food is brilliant and we love hearing all about his day when we pick him
up. It's so reassuring as a parent to know he is having the best time during the week!
