My daughter has been attending Norfolk House since Nov 2016 and it has been a wonderful journey. The staff have been there supporting all the milestones along the way. It's given her great early, social skills and confidence ready for school. Everyone is friendly, kind, caring and thoughtful. We'll
be really sad to say goodbye but can't thank them enough. Fantastic team.

Norfolk House is an exceptional and fantastic nursery. All staff members have gone beyond their duty to ensure my daughter not only settled in well but also have been extremely supportive during the difficult times of the Coronavirus outbreak. The staff are exemplary and I cannot recommend the babies
staff enough for their patience, hard work, understanding and love they give, during my daughter's day at nursery. From a child who would not be parted from myself, to one who is confident, happy and will walk into the arms of her teachers is what was achieved in a space of a couple of months. Constant intellectual stimulation and achieving milestones through play and IT is something one looks forward to hearing when picking up their child. Fantastic nursery.

My children have been going to Norfolk House for the last few years and I am very happy with the care they provide. I am a keyworker in the NHS and was very overwhelmed at how helpful and considerate they have been during these difficult times. The nursery was fully operational during this national
crisis for those who needed childcare and even provided care on bank holidays if needed.
My children are both attending pre-school and they love the activities they are able to do daily.
I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone!

Becoming a new Mom at the beginning of my 3rd year was a lot easier thanks to this nursery; it's on the same road as my university campus and accepts babies at 3 months and above. The staff are fantastic, informative and professional. Thank you for making our first Early Years experience perfect from
beginning to graduation. You've definitely set the bar high for my daughter's new nursery.

Our Son has been going to the nursery since 2017. During his time at Norfolk House Nursery, his development over the years has grown so much. The level of learning is high and he has had the opportunity to learn through many different methods as well as have the opportunity to experience forest school
and football which he has thoroughly enjoyed.
The staff at the nursery from day one have always been very friendly and caring towards the children. They are always very encouraging of the children to learn and enjoy what they are doing. We are happy we have chosen to send our son to Norfolk and it shows in our son through how happy he is when he is there.

My older daughter was previously at a different nursery and wasn't happy there. After my second daughter I was scared to put them into a nursery but I was due to go back to work so I picked Norfolk House Nursery. The best decision ever.

The staff are so friendly and approachable regardless if your

child is in their class or not. They helped my older daughter settle by going above and beyond to ensure she was happy. I was thinking my older one will take months or a year to settle but actually took 2 weeks to settle and my younger daughter settled a week later.

The best thing is the management are equally involved in taking care of the children when staff are required. Many times I have seen the nursery manager helping other staff in the babies room etc. I find this extremely important as it shows the management is willing to help when needed and not just stay in the office like the previous nursery did.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. It definitely is outstanding for a reason.

Prior to starting our journey with Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road, our little boy attended a different nursery which, despite having lots of positive reviews, was a massive let down. Thus, I was ‘a bit’ apprehensive to start with and on a mission to find any weak points here. Since then 2 years
have passed on and I'm still looking! All members of staff at Norfolk House Nursery (from management to the cleaning lady) are very friendly. They're always up for a chat and offer advice on everything from potty training to how to make veggie lollies. Even when our little boy was diagnosed with needing extra support in some areas, all the girls were extremely supportive and have put a tremendous effort in for him to catch up with other children without feeling pressurised.
I no longer feel guilty about leaving him here as I am confident he has the best care possible and is enjoying himself to the point where sometimes he doesn’t want to leave when it's home time.
A big thank you to all the staff at Norfolk House Nursery!

Before we made a decision to send our son to Norfolk House Nursery we researched a few other options across the South of Birmingham.
Norfolk House has fulfilled our expectations from the very first moment we stepped in.
Management and staff are not only friendly but they are really understanding,
extremely helpful and supportive with any tasks, problems or developmental aims for you and your child.
The building is nice and spacious with a generous garden. The nursery has its own kitchen with the most amazing chef. Food is fresh and prepared from scratch each day. The menu is available for you to look at a month in advance. You are welcome to ask for any adjustments for your child or simply take it as an inspiration for yourself.
Our little boy absolutely loves his nursery and when we drop him off in the morning he doesn’t even wave goodbye as he’s already straight in the room, full of smiles for everybody.
We really can’t be happier with our choice and can’t recommend Norfolk House enough.

My daughter has attended for 18 months. She was very attached to me before starting and had never settled with extended family/a crèche so starting was a daunting prospect. Despite a rocky start, the staff went out of their way to help her settle (lots of cuddles and taking her on laps of the garden
on drop off to calm her down) and even though I left to tears, on pick her up I always found her happily playing. And on days when I lingered in the hall, I found that the tears never lasted long!
There are many things that my daughter has benefitted from by attending. She constantly surprises me by knowing phonics, recognising letters and singing songs that I have not taught her. Nursery has also been a great help in her potty training, suggesting to me that she was ready (for her then to nail it in a matter of days).
Astroturf means that the children are able to get outside most days doing good activities (eg I found my daughter out late in the dark hunting for bugs with torches).

I trust Norfolk House Nursery with my two children, I can give no greater praise than that. I'll just list the good things that come to mind:

They genuinely care about the children. They work hard to educate them through play and activities. The opening hours comfortably cover core office hours.

It has parking spaces for pick up and drop off. It is very close to the city centre for those who work there. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is all cooked on site, well balanced and my children enjoy it. They organise trips for the children.

The only issue we have encountered with them in three and a half years was a small mix up with an invoice but this was rectified quickly and easily.

So, yes, I highly recommend them.

We couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery for our daughter and will be putting in our second child too when the time comes. Our daughter loves going to nursery - she has transitioned from babies 1 to 2 then to toddlers without any issues. All of the nursery staff are fantastic and we've never
had any cause to complain. They are all so caring and knowledgable as well as having a good varied activity calendar. We have enjoyed going to the extra events put on e.g. Fireworks and Divali evening. The extra-curricular activities my child does are toddler tennis and rhythm time - she is such a fan of them both and excitedly tells us about them each week.
The administrative and support staff are also excellent - always very organised and good communication with parents. The extended opening hours commencing imminently will be hugely beneficial to a lot of working parents.
The outside space transformation is fantastic - the astroturf means less mud/mess/weather restriction but hours of fun!

Our first son attended Harborne Road from age 9 months to starting school. He was one of the first children to attend and we have seen the nursery and staff grow and develop with our son. There were a few teething problems to begin with but the staff pulled together and put in place good measures to
ensure the nursery now runs effectively, safely and is full of fun with excellent educational standards too. Our son made close bonds with most of the staff and has developed into a fun, clever and sociable boy. Our second son has now just recently started and the staff are trying really hard to help him settle. We are confident that he will benefit from the social and educational development the nursery offers.

It can be a daunting prospect of finding childcare for your children but from the start, we have been delighted with the care and support our children have received from the staff at Norfolk House. Everyone goes out of their way to get to know your child as an individual and adapt for their specific
needs. We now feel as if the staff are like friends to us and will be sad when our little ones move on.

My son started attending the nursery a month ago and I can’t start describing how happy Dad and I are with our choice!
To start they are very attentive to details. Cleanliness is amazing which is extremely important when you have small babies.
Staff and management are so warm, well trained and care
about EVERY single child. They are very accommodating to anyone’s need. They try not to say no to anything you ask from them. They are all simply great!
Also, activities are added to a monthly calendar which keeps the children busy, entertained and learning at the same time.
The food also is so varied and nutritious and is cooked on site by a specialist.
Security and the well being of children is a priority at the nursery.
In a month we already can see some very positive changes in our son and as parents we are overjoyed! He ENJOYS and looks forward to going to nursery which is just relieving to us.
This nursery has it all!
Thank you Norfolk Team.

The end of 2018 was a fun and happy time for my son, the festive period was coming up and the buzz about the Nursery was very positive and engaging as usual. My son gets along very well with his carers and the other children in his class and I've seen him develop throughout the year, becoming more confident
each week, including singing carols and festive songs all the way home, after practising for the upcoming pre-school nativity.

When it comes to food, children go through their fussy stage of not liking things, but I have the confidence that what he does eat is still healthy and abides by our dietary requirements.

Activities and extra pre-paid classes have been a success too. Football class with the Coach is something we always mention to bribe him out of bed on a Wednesday morning! His recent key workers have put a lot of effort to help him try new things but also play to his strengths to give him confidence and provide him with the enthusiasm he needs. He loves his nursery.

Reply from Hayley Fox at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne RoadThank you for taking the time to complete this review. My three-year-old son joined after we were disappointed with the experience and quality of another nursery. Almost three months in and we can already see a huge step and change in my son's personality, confidence and ability! The staff have made a huge effort to settle him in, it's like he's been there
for years. He thoroughly enjoys his days at pre-school, has bonded really well with the staff and made some close friends within his class!

The curriculum is excellent and varied from learning about first aid to the solar system, as well as the extra curricular activities, in particular Tennis and Rhythm time, which really add a variety to the week. I'm also equally impressed with the fund raising done for charity and local needs, which is great for both the children and parents to be involved in.

My only negative would be with the menu, which at times is quite basic.

Overall I'm really happy we decided to send my son here, I only wish we had done it sooner!

Reply from Hayley Fox at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne RoadThank you for your response, I will ensure the staff are informed. With regards to the menus, they are carefully thought out with lots of variety and all the nutrients the children need. The Senior Nursery Manager with the support of the staff, families and of course the children design the menus, they are then checked by our nutritionist. I will ask our Nursery Manager to send a copy, but they can also be found on the Notice Board outside the Kitchen. Thanks again

My son has attended this nursery from 10 months old and he is now in pre-school. He loves attending Norfolk House nursery and speaks passionately of all the staff that care and have cared for him. The staff know all his likes and dislikes and they go above and beyond for him. They have also made the
transitions from each room very easy for him. They are all very understanding and compassionate towards him. He is happy to go to nursery which is the most important thing and very reassuring to us as parents. We couldn't be happier with the progress that he has made here. A faultless management team, a fantastic cook and amazing housekeeper.
I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a setting that will put your child's development at the heart of their ethos.

My two children and I love this nursey. My daughter is nearly 4 and has been at the nursery since she was 8 months. The staff are caring, interested and hardworking.

It's only since having to look at other nurseries for my youngest as my eldest will be starting school that I have realised all the

trips and out of nursery events are really unusual and one of the things which make this nursery so good. I travel a distance (as we moved) to keep my two children here and I am looking at how I can do it with one in school - it's that good!

I recommend this nursery to anyone.

My daughter loves going to nursery and she’s not even 2! Her excitement when she sees and recognises her nursery as we approach it in the morning, means the world! I’m so thankful for the teachers who love her, educate her and are well aware of her development skills. Every teacher shows a genuine and
authentic interest in my child and I’m sure it’s the same with every other child. This nursery is of the highest calibre in terms of quality teachers, clean and flourishing environment! I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a place that will love your child and help them in their development.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.896)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.896) out of 10 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 number of registered child places is 11.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.

I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.

My team and I would be delighted to show you around our setting, explain further the service we provide and answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to make contact me, and I look forward very much to meeting you in the future.

I have worked in Early Years for 20 years and enjoy my chosen career very much, I love that no day is the same! I enjoy working with my team, the parents and most importantly the children!

I oversee the day to day running of the nursery alongside my management team ensuring that all children are not only offered the highest standards of care and education but that it is tailored to meet every child’s needs in a safe, secure and enabling environment, where all children are comfortable and happy. My own son has attended the nursery since he was 9 months old and has made great achievements in all of his development, I couldn’t be happier!
