The staff at this nursery are what make it so great. My child has transitioned between two rooms as he’s got older with lots of support to both myself and to him.
There’s always lots of extra curricular activities happening and events associated with key annual dates, most recently learning about Divali
and Remembrance Day.
Whenever I have any concerns or ideas the management have an open door policy and always take on feedback or help me when I need it!

Overall it is an excellent nursery and have recommended to friends. The staff are passionate about both the personal care and learning journeys of the children.

I feel comfortable giving feedback to nursery staff and management and feel it is taken on board.

I feel there could be additional equipment

in the garden, however, it has improved. I would like to see more bikes and maybe a wooden playhouse.

I like the extracurricular activities the nursery offer, including ballet, rhythm time, tennis, yoga etc.

One improvement I would like is additional info in the daily journal around focus learning activity for the day and how the child got on. Also maybe a note to say what we can work on at home on a weekly basis.

There is a safety issue with the parking at the nursery with parents parking on the double yellow lines outside and limited allocated spaces. The nursery could maybe call a face to face meeting with parents to address this as many are happy to ignore the warnings.

Reply from Hayley Fox, Senior Nursery Manager at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne RoadThank you for your feedback much appreciated, please see response below:

Garden- The equipment is generally put away at the end of the day but we will assess how many bikes we have and order more if required. We have recently had the grass relaid with astroturf and a range of flowers and herbs and planted. We have also put a slide/ climbing frame in the garden, alongside the Sand Pit and Mud Kitchen, but will certainly look into purchasing a playhouse.

Learning Journey- Within the Daily Diary there is space to inform parents of the activity that was planned specifically for their child and how this can be extended at home. Checks will be done to ensure they are being completed in full.

Parking- Numerous letters have been sent to parents who park on the yellow lines, we also speak to them face to face. We have held meetings to discuss the parking but unfortunately, no one was able to attend. We have involved the council and police and will, of course, continue to monitor and action those who do not use our designated spaces.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this.

My son settled into the nursery really well. He has fantastic relationships with the staff, especially his key person. We get written feedback each day in his diary which is great as I rarely get to collect him from nursery due to work commitments.

My daughter loves attending here and after a rocky start, all staff made her feel at home and safe with ease, so now she will run into nursery excited as can be. From this she has became a clever little lady from the help of all her carers. They are all very supportive and do their best to help her
to develop further and encourages her to make soo many new friends. I would definitely recommend the nursery with ease.

My child has attended this nursery since he was 9 months old. We couldn't be happier with the progress that he has made. The staff know everything there is to know about my child and they go above and beyond for him. He is so happy there which is the most important thing to me as a busy working mum.
The staff made his transition into his nursery life an easy one for him and for me. I cannot praise this nursery enough. The whole team from the management to the housekeeper are amazing!!

We have been continually very impressed by the very high standard of care that our son receives at Norfolk House. Care is genuinely individualised to suit his needs and interests. The effort made by the staff to provide excitement for the children and support for parents is exceptional. We're very happy
we chose NH for our little man. Many thanks to you all.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.896) out of 10 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 number of registered child places is 11.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2009

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.

I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.

My team and I would be delighted to show you around our setting, explain further the service we provide and answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to make contact me, and I look forward very much to meeting you in the future.
