Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is a very nurturing and happy place. They have supported our son to become a confident and independent little boy. He has made great friendships here. As soon as he wakes he is excited to go to nursery. The forest school is absolutely great and the food is also
very yummy. During the testing COVID times, we were very fortunate to have support from Norfolk House Nursery. They remained open and put appropriate measures in place for the smooth running of the nursery. Both I and my wife are frontline NHS workers and were able to work efficiently as our childcare was so well supported by Norfolk House Nursery. Thank you everyone at Norfolk House for being such a great team and please continue to bring the best out of the little ones.
Reply from Hayley Fox, Senior Nursery Manager at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne RoadThank you for such a wonderful review. The forest school is a very firm favourite, the children absolutely love it and get so much from it! Thank you for recognising the measures we have put in place during COVID.

My daughter has been at Norfolk House for two years and she is so happy there – it feels like a second home to her. All of the staff are so nurturing and supportive and they provide her with so much care, attention and positivity. The management team is so efficient and helpful, nothing is too much
trouble for them. They have been an amazing support during the lockdowns when I was terribly busy with work.

Amazing nursery, my 2 year old has transitioned from the baby room to the toddler room in the past 2 months and developed really well with the staff support. He has also had few medical conditions but the nursery are always helpful with tips and are happy to accommodate any changes for his diet or medical
creams. My son loves going into nursery in the morning!

Norfolk House is an excellent nursery, with such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. All the staff are amazing, they are ever so friendly and really care about my child’s development and wellbeing. They go above and beyond to get to know each individual child and parent and cater to their needs. My child
loves going to this nursery, and I would base my opinion on how happy and settled he is here, there’s a real positive vibe.

We have found Norfolk House to be an amazing nursery for our daughter. During this pandemic, the nursery is essential to our child’s development - interaction with other children and adults. I think the way the team have managed the nursery during the COVID pandemic has been fantastic - and I would
add that the team have been super and just need a big thanks every day for putting our child (and others) above their own well-being and health! Our daughter has become more social and confident as a result of you. Thank you. Really good team of professionals, if people are thinking of sending their child to Norfolk House.
Reply from Hayley Fox, Senior Nursery Manager at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne RoadThank you for recognising the wonderful staff and all that has been put in place during the pandemic. We had heard great things about this nursery and I registered her when I was in early pregnancy! We are so so happy with this nursery. We were worried about how our daughter would settle in given that she had had such limited social contact during the pandemic. However, she settled in straight away
and seems so happy, picking up her shoes and coat every morning to rush to nursery. She’s developed rapidly and seems to have learned a lot. Highly recommend and can’t fault our experience so far!

Norfolk House Nursery have looked after both of my children - they're wonderful. The staff first and foremost care so much about the children which is the most important thing to us. Our daughters have both been so happy there. They have been great throughout lockdown, with regular clear communication
and they remained open for keyworker children like ours. When isolating, then home packs have been sent out, and there's been an opportunity to join in online sessions e.g. storytime, or simple cooking for the older children. Opening hours of 7am-7pm have been a saviour for those of us with long working days. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the nursery wholeheartedly.

When looking for a nursery, Norfork House ticked all our boxes.
Friendly, loving, safety, positive, professional, children's best interests at heart, learning, I can go on.
It's true what they say the child/ren will settle in when they know they are safe and happy. On the induction day (before Covid)
my son at 10months just sat down and played with the other babies, didn't bat an eyelid when we left him to carry on with the show around. (If you knew my son, he's fussy) That showed me there and then this was the place.
And specifically now with this virus, me and my wife have 100% certainty he is in the best safe hands.
Thank you for everything.

We are a French family, with two boys (toddler and preschool).
The Norfolk nursery staff didn’t make any issue to welcome our boys in the organisation. So we are so happy to offer an English education to our children.
The staff is patient and benevolent.
Moreover, they are creative and are always
proposing many challenges, especially during the first lockdown.
Thanks a lot for that.

Norfolk House Nursery is a wonderful nursery. My son started nursery just after the first lockdown and the team did amazing things at settling him in when he hadn’t seen many people in a long time. His development has been really brought on by attending the nursery and I will be sending my second son
there this year as well. A great place, fantastic team that out the child’s individual needs first. All the team have taken their time to get to know my son and he loves going to nursery.

We couldn’t be happier with Norfolk House. The staff are brilliant and so engaging with our children. It is clear that a lot of thought, care and fun goes into each days planning and that no two days are the same. It speaks volumes when our daughter runs through the doors to be greeted by the staff
and her friends!

This nursery has been fantastic. We have twin boys aged 15 months. They are so happy at arrival, you know they are having a lovely time all day. They seem to do a great range of activities and it seems extremely varied. On top of this the food is healthy, made on site, and my children eat seconds most
meals (so clearly not is also delicious!)
The staff are delightful, friendly, welcoming, helpful and kind. They have all worked so hard through covid, we have barely had to isolate which is testament to all their work. On top of this during the snow, they opened for full time. This should tell you how reliable they are as service providers as well as being a lovely team.
I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.
Reply from Hayley Fox, Senior Nursery Manager at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne RoadWhat a lovely review, thank you so much! It's nice to hear that the boys enjoy the meals, I will be sure to pass this on to our amazing cook! Thank you also for the recognition for the team working through COVID.

I have extended my job posting in Birmingham as the staff at Norfolk House has offered me every bit of support I could ever wish for as a single mum. No matter what state I arrive in, I know my little one absolutely loves it there. I never feel judged but, in fact, listened to. It just like an extended
family that offer a lot more then I ever could. I always come home with so much arts and craft! She is truly coming on so well with her confidence and milestones. Thank you.

My eldest daughter started at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road when it first opened and it had always stayed with me how brilliant the staff were with her, how much she learnt in her time there and how well prepared she was to start school. So, there was no hesitation in opting for Norfolk House
for my second child. I was quite nervous about how she would take to a new environment having spent most of her life in lockdown but the staff have been great in helping her settle in very quickly. She loves her days at the nursery and it is so reassuring for us to know that she is being well looked after. The team work incredibly hard to provide a wonderful environment for the children, they are very attentive to individual needs and their communication with parents is excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery!

I have had 2 children at Norfolk House Nursery in the past so it was the obvious choice for me to send my third little one there when I returned to work. They have always been so caring and nurturing of my children and their treatment of my baby has been nothing less. They have been fantastic during
this difficult time of returning to work as a key worker and have provided great support and understanding during this challenging time. The staff are always friendly and helpful and have helped him settle in really well. He thoroughly enjoys all the activities that they arrange and classes like rhythm time are a wonderful bonus. Would very much recommend them to my friends and family.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.896) out of 10 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 number of registered child places is 11.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2009

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.

I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.

My team and I would be delighted to show you around our setting, explain further the service we provide and answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to make contact me, and I look forward very much to meeting you in the future.
