I highly recommend Norfolk House Nursery Harborne Road! The care for my 4-year-old daughter has been exceptional. From our first visit, the welcoming and professional staff put us at ease.

The engaging curriculum fosters not only academic skills but also social and emotional growth. My daughter loves

The nursery is safe, clean, and filled with stimulating activities. I appreciate the regular updates about her progress and experiences. Most importantly, my daughter enjoys going to nursery and talks about her friends and favorite activities.

Our son started at NHN at 11 months old. Having spent every day with him up until that point I was concerned how we would both manage apart. I need not have worried. The management team provided advice on appropriate settling in sessions and that was it, he was settled, and I was able to leave him at
nursery knowing he was happy. As he has grown he has been able to experience all that the nursery has to offer, be that forest school, baby ballet or seeing the animals when the farm visited for the day. He has learnt so much and we owe it all to the wonderful staff, be that management, the room staff, chef and cleaning staff. To see him run over to his room staff beaming with excitement about what the day has instore is a fantastic feeling.
Reply from Joti Fage, Marketing Coordinator at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne RoadThank you so much for your kind review. We know how big a step starting nursery can be, so we're really glad the settling-in process helped both you and your son feel comfortable.

It's lovely to hear how much he has enjoyed the different experiences at our Nursery, and your kind words about our whole team mean a lot. Seeing children arrive happy and excited for their day is the best feedback we could receive.

We are so happy with our daughter's nursery and the care she receives. She has recently moved from Babies 2 into the toddler room, and the transition was handled so smoothly and thoughtfully. The team made sure she felt secure and supported, and it's been wonderful to see how quickly she has settled
and grown in confidence. The staff are nurturing, attentive, and genuinely invested in each child's development. We're regularly updated on her progress and daily activities, which gives us real peace of mind. The environment is warm, engaging, and full of opportunities to learn through play. A special mention to the management team, who are incredibly engaging and approachable. They are always visible, involved, and happy to talk, creating a positive atmosphere for both children and parents. We're truly grateful for everything they do.

Norfolk House is a really lovely, friendly environment with great staff. Our second child is here at the moment and we are really happy with the standard of care we receive. They offer great extra activities that the children can take part in, to make the days even more varied. Their forest school program
is such a great addition and so good to know the children are getting outside. The team always go out of their way to help.

My child has been going for several months now and all the staff have been excellent in helping with the settling in process. The communication with parents is consistently good, responsive and open. There are lots of activities for the kids of all ages throughout each month and parents are kept informed
through an email newsletter. I would recommend this nursery to friends and family.

We couldn't be happier with this nursery and the care they provide for our toddler daughter. From day one, the staff have been incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely invested in each child's wellbeing and development. She runs in happily every morning and comes home smiling, which says everything.

We have had an amazing experience with Norfolk House Nursery Harborne Road. The manager and deputy manager are both fantastic, going above and beyond to make sure you feel confident and looked after. The babies room staff are all also so kind and full of energy, the handovers have been excellent from
our key worker, really thorough. Our child absolutely loves the nursery, she is all smiles on every drop off. She loves the forest school! There are focus activities for us to have fun doing at home too. She also eats really well, the food is healthy and balanced. Really can't fault this team, thank you!

My child joined the nursery start of this year, after visiting several nurseries. Norfolk House really stood out, I had an excellent experience while visiting and had to go with my gut feeling. All the staff are very welcoming, friendly and really put you at ease especially being a first time mother
and sending your chid to nursery. They are always very transparent, and take the time to talk to you, even if they are busy. All the staff do an excellent job, and couldn't fault any of it, and how hard they work. My child, really enjoys going there now, took a few session to settle in properly. I've seen a big difference in him, and how he interacts with others and what he's able to do. I would 100% recommend Norfolk House (Harborne Road). Overall excellent nursery.

My children have attended NHN since April 2021 with my now 4 year old and my 2 year old who is currently attending. NHN have met the individual needs of my children from 10 months old, as well as my need for reassurance as a first time parent entering childcare.
I receive detailed daily reports and
regular pictures of my children carrying out activities in line with the birth to three early years framework.
A variety of meals are provided as well as recipe ideas to take home which is brilliant as my children sometimes eat better at nursery than they do at home.
There is a warm indescribable care that we have received from the unique care provided by the staff team.
It is so difficult to place your children in the care of others and we are happy with the choice we have made placing our children at NHN.

I transitioned my boy to NHN - Harborne Road in October 2024.. he's an October baby so it felt really important that he was in a pre-school set up that was equipped to prepare him for school the following year. Within the first 2 weeks I noticed a huge improvement from feedback directly from my son..
he started to tell me what he'd been doing with his day, singing new songs and making friends who he talked about outside of nursery! He was apprehensive about the change but it's safe to say we have never looked back.. he loves his days and looks forward to special days like when he can go to forest school.. he thrives in NHN and the feedback I receive from the practitioners makes me really feel like they know and most importantly understand my son's personality and needs. We've very recently met with the health visitor too, again a very lovely and helpful experience. I would recommend NHN to any child and can't thank the staff enough for the love they poor into my boy daily.. thank you!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.896) out of 10 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 number of registered child places is 11.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.

I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.

My team and I would be delighted to show you around our setting, explain further the service we provide and answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to make contact me, and I look forward very much to meeting you in the future.
