After visiting a variety of different nurseries and even enrolling our daughter to another nursery we still opted for Norfolk House.

Right from the offset we were made to feel welcome, met our daughter's primary nurse, given an outline of the types of activities our daughter would be involved in,

a nutrition programme and shown around the facilities.

Over the past 5 months, we feel that our daughter has bonded with the staff, has had her development accelerated and also feel at eavesdropping on our daughter there.

Norfolk House is also great in providing a monthly events calendar so we know what's in store and she is continuously learning and developing.

Finally, it's also clear that the staff genuinely enjoy being there and take pride in what they do, this culture then also spreads down towards the care and treatment of the kids there and extends to the parents.

If you're looking for a nursery I would certainly recommend Norfolk House!

All the staff are extremely caring and considerate and this shows during drop-off when the kids are excited to be going and know that they will be doing a range of fun activities. At pick-up, we get detailed feedback on what the kids have been up to. All the staff in each room are very observant noting
all small details. In the lead up to special occasions such as Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, the staff are always busy helping the kids make small gifts and cards to give to parents. We have been a number of years and the staff turnover is very low which indicates that they are treated well and this provides continuity in the care given to the kids. We always recommend Norfolk House Nursery to any new parents who are looking for a safe and caring place to bring their kids.

We chose Norfolk House Nursery for our daughter because it had a lovely homely feel to it and it has not disappointed. The staff are wonderful and always willing to help and our daughter absolutely loves going to the nursery to see her friends (she now thinks of the staff as her friends too).
We recommend
Norfolk House Nursery to anyone we meet.

I am continually impressed with Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road, my son loves his time there and he gets so much variety in learning, play and socialising. I am always kept in the loop about his development and I love hearing about how he is progressing. The nursery is very keen to take on board
parent feedback which is brilliant and I always feel I am heard as a parent. The staff are wonderful and always willing to hear you and help you. The nursery welcomes the celebration of all cultures and I’m so happy that my son is learning about diversity at this young age.

We love this nursery! The staff at Norfolk House Nursery go above and beyond! The facilities and activities that the children have are brilliant. The food is to a high standard- our boy has double helpings regularly! Parent-Nursery communication is excellent, with regular updates and feedback on our
child's progress. We couldn't be happier with our nursery. We will be sorry to leave when the time comes.

Norfolk House Nursery is warm and welcoming from the minute you step through the door. I am extremely reassured that when I drop my son off, he is given all the love and attention that he needs. He is always so pleased to arrive in the morning, which to me, exemplifies how happy and content he is made
to feel whilst he is under their care.

My son has been in Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road since March 2020 and has attended full time for the duration of our stay. Having moved as a family 2 weeks before lockdown began this nursery has been one of the highlights of our time in the UK. His time in the pre-school room has exceeded my
expectations and I have watched him blossom in all domains. He loves coming to Norfolk House and so do his parents. When we leave the UK we will truly remember this time fondly.

I cannot express enough how amazing Norfolk House Nursery is from the staff, the duty of care to our little boy to all the activities they get the children involved in. Our little one absolutely loves going to nursery and happily waves goodbye when we drop him off. This is so important to us as parents
as it shows he is comfortable and enjoys his time there and all of that is down to the fantastic team at Norfolk House.
Our son has come a long way since starting at Norfolk House in September 2020, he is learning so much and become quite the chatterbox, we are so amazed by how much he is getting involved in and the little stories he tells us when he comes home. We know our son is happy and safely looked after at Norfolk House and genuinely couldn't ask for anything more. Great nursery, would highly recommend!

I am extremely happy with the nursery. My daughter has been able to learn new skills and activities that she wouldn’t of been able to do at home. I feel she has needed the nursery more than ever with all of us being in a pandemic and babies not meeting family and friends as they normally would to develop.
She is very happy at nursery, which is good to know when we are dropping her to be looked after.

My little one has been attending nursery at the Norfolk House Nursery (Harbourne Road) since she turned 1 year old. Being a skin of colour family where our first language at home isn't the English Language, I guess it's only natural to feel slightly worried as a mum when we sent our little one to nursery
- wondering if she would adapt. We have been blessed and grateful that she has clearly adapted really well and really enjoys all her time at nursery, thanks to the brilliant team at Harbourne Road. She is becoming an extremely cheerful child, full of confidence in herself and her surroundings! Her favourite activity appears to be BabyBallet! I have to say that we feel both inclusive and exclusive at nursery! Well done and thank you to all staff! Keep up the good work!

This is the second nursery that our toddler son has attended and we have been simply blown away. The standards of care have exceeded our expectations. The staff are extremely attentive and seem to have a great understanding of the children in their care. I’m actually amazed by the number of activities
they manage to fit into a day. Our son has settled in really well thanks to the staff. He loves attending nursery and we always feel reassured that he is being well looked after.

Our little boy started nursery at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road in October 2020 during the middle of the pandemic. Despite it being such a difficult time, he settled in at nursery quickly and his development has gone from strength to strength since starting. When he started he was shy but now
he is outgoing and keen to try new activities. All the staff are so friendly and keen to give you a full update on your little one's day when you arrive to pick up. It is clear how well the Babies 1 staff know my son and he is always so happy and excited to see them for a day at nursery. There is also a wide range of activities (including messy ones you may not want to try at home)! The nursery staff have also been flexible and helpful when changes in childcare have occurred. I would highly recommend!

My little one has been at Norfolk House Harborne Road since they were 7 months of age and absolutely loves it! He is developing rapidly and is turning into an amazing little one, polite, caring, and very interested in the world around him. The facilities are brilliant and I love the fact there are new
toys and books to challenge the children every few months. The staff are like an extended family to us and nothing is too much of a problem. I can’t thank them enough for making it easy for me to work knowing he is safe and extremely well cared for.

Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road was our first choice when selecting a nursery for our daughter. The staff were amazing at helping both us as parents and our daughter settle into the nursery. It was tough leaving her at first, especially as she has spent most of her life in lockdown and only interacting
with us. She is now thriving in her social skills as well as her development. I cannot thank the staff and team enough for all the support that they have given. We get daily updates, they work to the needs of our daughter (if she’s had a difficult night or being fussy with food etc), they will cater to her needs, rather than force her into a routine that doesn’t work for her. They also give us support as first time parents with focus activities for the week to support the development that they are working on during the day.
As parents we are very happy with Norfolk house nursery and very grateful to all the staff especially with the challenging times we are all faced right now. Thank you.

We have nothing but praise for Norfolk House Nursery, Harborne Road.
Since making the first contact about placing our daughter into their care the team have been nothing but professional, supportive and helpful.
We were filled with confidence after reading the nurseries policies and having the opportunity
to visit and meet staff before submitting any forms.
We were worried it would take a while for our 9-month-old daughter to settle in. She was born in lockdown and has had little contact with family and friends. Most of her baby classes haven been completed on Zoom and the ones we have attended have been socially distanced and adult faces covered.
We need not have worried, our daughter attended 2 induction sessions before commencing her 1st proper week. We have no doubt that she loves her time at the nursery. We receive regular photo's and art projects and the diary completed by her keyworker is a sure way to know how she has been getting on during the day! Thank You Norfolk House Nursery.

My son joined the Norfolk Nursery in November 2020, the staff here are so warm and friendly. I was worried during the pandemic about how will he play with other kids and have a normal life, the teachers in the nursery took good care of him and he has now grown stronger. He learns something new every
day. I am so happy that he has settled well in the nursery. Norfolk Nursery is amazing place for my son to play and learn. They give homework which helps us interact and built bonds in the family.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.896) out of 10 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is calculated as follows: ( (215 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 number of registered child places is 11.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.

I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.

My team and I would be delighted to show you around our setting, explain further the service we provide and answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to make contact me, and I look forward very much to meeting you in the future.
