Norfolk House Nursery in Harborne Road, Edgbaston, provides childcare and early years education to children aged from three months to five years in a happy and fun environment.

Situated on the Calthorpe Estate, the nursery is set in a large building that has been fully refurbished to a very high standard and includes spacious, bright and vibrant rooms with a large secure garden.

Children can enjoy a wide range of activities and classes at the nursery such as Baby Ballet, Rhythm Time, Jazz-Mataz, Bhangra Tots and many more.

Healthy eating is strongly encouraged within the nursery and children are offered delicious and nutritional meals and snacks that are freshly prepared by the on-site cook.

An enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff strive to provide a high level of childcare in a caring and stimulating environment, and using a Key Person system close relationships are formed with both children and parents, keeping parents informed of their child's progress at all times.

This is the second nursery that our toddler son has attended and we have been simply blown away. The standards of care have exceeded our expectations. The staff are extremely attentive and seem to have a great understanding of the children in their care. I’m actually amazed by the number of activities
they manage to fit into a day. Our son has settled in really well thanks to the staff. He loves attending nursery and we always feel reassured that he is being well looked after.

Our little boy started nursery at Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road in October 2020 during the middle of the pandemic. Despite it being such a difficult time, he settled in at nursery quickly and his development has gone from strength to strength since starting. When he started he was shy but now
he is outgoing and keen to try new activities. All the staff are so friendly and keen to give you a full update on your little one's day when you arrive to pick up. It is clear how well the Babies 1 staff know my son and he is always so happy and excited to see them for a day at nursery. There is also a wide range of activities (including messy ones you may not want to try at home)! The nursery staff have also been flexible and helpful when changes in childcare have occurred. I would highly recommend!

My little one has been at Norfolk House Harborne Road since they were 7 months of age and absolutely loves it! He is developing rapidly and is turning into an amazing little one, polite, caring, and very interested in the world around him. The facilities are brilliant and I love the fact there are new
toys and books to challenge the children every few months. The staff are like an extended family to us and nothing is too much of a problem. I can’t thank them enough for making it easy for me to work knowing he is safe and extremely well cared for.

Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road was our first choice when selecting a nursery for our daughter. The staff were amazing at helping both us as parents and our daughter settle into the nursery. It was tough leaving her at first, especially as she has spent most of her life in lockdown and only interacting
with us. She is now thriving in her social skills as well as her development. I cannot thank the staff and team enough for all the support that they have given. We get daily updates, they work to the needs of our daughter (if she’s had a difficult night or being fussy with food etc), they will cater to her needs, rather than force her into a routine that doesn’t work for her. They also give us support as first time parents with focus activities for the week to support the development that they are working on during the day.
As parents we are very happy with Norfolk house nursery and very grateful to all the staff especially with the challenging times we are all faced right now. Thank you.

We have nothing but praise for Norfolk House Nursery, Harborne Road.
Since making the first contact about placing our daughter into their care the team have been nothing but professional, supportive and helpful.
We were filled with confidence after reading the nurseries policies and having the opportunity
to visit and meet staff before submitting any forms.
We were worried it would take a while for our 9-month-old daughter to settle in. She was born in lockdown and has had little contact with family and friends. Most of her baby classes haven been completed on Zoom and the ones we have attended have been socially distanced and adult faces covered.
We need not have worried, our daughter attended 2 induction sessions before commencing her 1st proper week. We have no doubt that she loves her time at the nursery. We receive regular photo's and art projects and the diary completed by her keyworker is a sure way to know how she has been getting on during the day! Thank You Norfolk House Nursery.

My son joined the Norfolk Nursery in November 2020, the staff here are so warm and friendly. I was worried during the pandemic about how will he play with other kids and have a normal life, the teachers in the nursery took good care of him and he has now grown stronger. He learns something new every
day. I am so happy that he has settled well in the nursery. Norfolk Nursery is amazing place for my son to play and learn. They give homework which helps us interact and built bonds in the family.

Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road is a very nurturing and happy place. They have supported our son to become a confident and independent little boy. He has made great friendships here. As soon as he wakes he is excited to go to nursery. The forest school is absolutely great and the food is also
very yummy. During the testing COVID times, we were very fortunate to have support from Norfolk House Nursery. They remained open and put appropriate measures in place for the smooth running of the nursery. Both I and my wife are frontline NHS workers and were able to work efficiently as our childcare was so well supported by Norfolk House Nursery. Thank you everyone at Norfolk House for being such a great team and please continue to bring the best out of the little ones.

My daughter has been at Norfolk House for two years and she is so happy there – it feels like a second home to her. All of the staff are so nurturing and supportive and they provide her with so much care, attention and positivity. The management team is so efficient and helpful, nothing is too much
trouble for them. They have been an amazing support during the lockdowns when I was terribly busy with work.

Amazing nursery, my 2 year old has transitioned from the baby room to the toddler room in the past 2 months and developed really well with the staff support. We had heard great things about this nursery and I registered her when I was in early pregnancy! We are so so happy with this nursery. We were worried about how our daughter would settle in given that she had had such limited social contact during the pandemic. However, she settled in straight away
and seems so happy, picking up her shoes and coat every morning to rush to nursery. She’s developed rapidly and seems to have learned a lot. Highly recommend and can’t fault our experience so far!

Norfolk House Nursery have looked after both of my children - they're wonderful. The staff first and foremost care so much about the children which is the most important thing to us. Our daughters have both been so happy there. They have been great throughout lockdown, with regular clear communication
and they remained open for keyworker children like ours. When isolating, then home packs have been sent out, and there's been an opportunity to join in online sessions e.g. storytime, or simple cooking for the older children. Opening hours of 7am-7pm have been a saviour for those of us with long working days. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the nursery wholeheartedly.

When looking for a nursery, Norfork House ticked all our boxes.
Friendly, loving, safety, positive, professional, children's best interests at heart, learning, I can go on.
It's true what they say the child/ren will settle in when they know they are safe and happy. On the induction day (before Covid)
my son at 10months just sat down and played with the other babies, didn't bat an eyelid when we left him to carry on with the show around. (If you knew my son, he's fussy) That showed me there and then this was the place.
And specifically now with this virus, me and my wife have 100% certainty he is in the best safe hands.

We are a French family, with two boys (toddler and preschool).
The Norfolk nursery staff didn’t make any issue to welcome our boys in the organisation. So we are so happy to offer an English education to our children.
The staff is patient and benevolent.
Moreover, they are creative and are always
proposing many challenges, especially during the first lockdown.

Norfolk House Nursery is a wonderful nursery. My son started nursery just after the first lockdown and the team did amazing things at settling him in when he hadn’t seen many people in a long time. His development has been really brought on by attending the nursery and I will be sending my second son
there this year as well. A great place, fantastic team that out the child’s individual needs first. All the team have taken their time to get to know my son and he loves going to nursery.

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.


I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.

I am Alison Galbraith, the Nursery Manager at Harborne Road. I joined Norfolk House Nursery in July 2014 when we first opened our doors. I have worked in Early Years for 20 years and enjoy my chosen career very much, I love that no day is the same! I enjoy working with my team, the parents and most importantly the children!


I oversee the day to day running of the nursery alongside my management team ensuring that all children are not only offered the highest standards of care and education but that it is tailored to meet every child’s needs in a safe, secure and enabling environment, where all children are comfortable and happy. My own son has attended the nursery since he was 9 months old and has made great achievements in all of his development, I couldn’t be happier!
