Norfolk House Nursery in Harborne Road, Edgbaston, provides childcare and early years education to children aged from three months to five years in a happy and fun environment.

Situated on the Calthorpe Estate, the nursery is set in a large building that has been fully refurbished to a very high standard and includes spacious, bright and vibrant rooms with a large secure garden.

Children can enjoy a wide range of activities and classes at the nursery such as Baby Ballet, Rhythm Time, Jazz-Mataz, Bhangra Tots and many more.

Healthy eating is strongly encouraged within the nursery and children are offered delicious and nutritional meals and snacks that are freshly prepared by the on-site cook.

An enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff strive to provide a high level of childcare in a caring and stimulating environment, and using a Key Person system close relationships are formed with both children and parents, keeping parents informed of their child's progress at all times.

My daughter has come on leaps and bounds in the preschool room at this nursery. The extra activities and events the staff create are a particularly wonderful part of this nursery, whether it’s a nursery disco party, visits from animals, forest school, rhythm time, a visit to a library, a baby chino
in a cafe, leapfrog or tennis there are some really fabulous activities that keep the children so entertained and the weeks varied. The staff go above and beyond to make sure drop-offs are a good experience for parents and children and are all such warm, friendly people who are always smiling.

My daughter has been attending the nursery since she was 11 months old. She started off at the Babies 1 room and then moved up to the Babies 2 room. I get the sense the staff do everything they can to help her settle in and get to know her. The staff are very responsive to any concerns or questions
I may have about my daughter and answer all my queries. I get a full picture of how her day has been at the end of every day. It is clear that my daughter learns lots of new things at the nursery. She really enjoys stories and music and the nursery offers plenty of activities that she finds stimulating and fun. I feel that she is in caring and capable hands while she is there. I would highly recommend this nursery.

We recently joined this nursery and are delighted with our choice. We looked around a few different nurseries in Edgbaston but it was on meeting the manager and deputy manager at Norfolk House Nursery Harborne Road which made choosing this nursery very easy. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and
always happy to help.
The nursery takes security very seriously which was another big win with us.

Like the environment and people.
My kid likes to be in the nursery and people who take care of the kids.
Would be good to upgrade the nursery app to make tracking of my kid's daily routine more digital, so that I can check any moment when I want, especially the menu for the day.

As we have discussed with parents, we feel that the way we communicate is much more personal and we can get to know the family better. The menus can be found on nursery boards, are handed out and on the website so please feel free to pick up another one. We also feel very strongly about children seeing staff with pen/paper not staring at a computer screen. Emails are sent daily and families are encouraged to call if they have any questions. The key workers' time is much better spent with the children, as you can imagine messages from numerous parents daily will take up so much of their time, we feel that's best spent with the children and if there are any concerns we will call the parents, otherwise we discuss the day upon collection. Thanks again.

Brilliant staff and varied activities for the kids - my son has settled in so well thanks to his lovely keyworker! Healthy meals and staff take into account personal preferences and child routines. Couldn't be happier with my choice of nursery.

The nursery has been superb. I have really enjoyed sending my daughter to Norfolk, the staff have been great and very attentive towards her and her needs.
Anytime we have asked or needed something from the nursery they have really helped us out! They are very accommodating and I would highly recommend
sending your child here.
My daughter only attends once a week but she has learnt so much and she is very happy going there and enjoys her day with the staff and activities. Although she only attends one day she has learnt a lot, this is great as the staff is teaching her and she is developing fast. Quite commendable!

My little boy has been coming to this nursery for well over 12 months now and his progress has been phenomenal. The facilities for the children to learn and play are brilliant. My little boy always has fun at nursery and enjoys going back. They always have a calendar every month full of activities daily,
that the children will be doing in all of the stationed rooms. They also have extra curricular activities, trips and people to come to the nursery to do different things with the children. I really cannot recommend this nursery any higher to anyone, absolutely perfect nursery for my child to flourish, that perfect my little girl will be coming here also when I go back to work.

My daughter has been going to Norfolk House Nursery since Jan 2021 (she joined babies 2), and I couldn't sing their praises higher. The nursery had and continues to do its utmost to make you feel at ease and create a warm welcoming space, second only to home. The facilities are brilliant, with beautiful
open and creative spaces, and an amazing garden too. My daughter has grown tremendously in skill, character and confidence and I massively credit this to Norfolk House Nursery HR. My daughter has transitioned between the rooms with ease and joy, and everything is a result of the staff (both office and rooms). Everyone is so attentive and responsive to my needs as a first-time parent, as well as my daughters, needs, which have adapted from baby to young lady. The manager and her team are like a family and hands-on with everything, they're fantastic and have been instrumental in my and my daughter's respective journeys. Thank you for what you do day in and day out for us all.

Norfolk House is a great setting for my three-year-old son, who is currently in the preschool room. He has been there since he was eight months old and has thrived, always making great connections with the staff and other children. The extracurricular activities the nursery organises are fantastic,
including tennis, football, forest school and rhythm time. We also loved the Xmas performance and all of the artwork and baking the children do throughout the year. I highly recommend the nursery to other parents.

My daughter attends Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road and she absolutely loves it. The staff are very attentive as always.
She will always speak highly of the staff members and has formed a brilliant bond, therefore I have no worries about dropping my daughter off as I know she is in the best hands

Norfolk House Nursery (Harborne) has consistently been a wonderful environment for my son. The management team work so hard on providing a safe, fun and educational environment for the children. I cannot thank the preschool team enough for their inspirational dedication to their job and the little ones.

We love the people. Our son loves everything and everyone at Norfolk nursery. That makes us happy. We obviously trust them. We had a terrible experience with a previous nursery. But at Norfolk, we know our son is in safe and caring hands.

As a very anxious mother, I can honestly say the staff at Norfolk House are wonderful. From the first day my son started in the baby room I always felt assured and comfortable he was being well looked after. After almost 8 months it's a pleasure to be greeted by the staff on a morning and watch my son
run into the room. I am always given informative updates on how each day has been. A great place I would highly recommend for any parent. Thank you to all the team!

Where do I start? We've been lucky enough to secure a place for all 3 of our boys at this fantastic nursery. Our youngest is currently in the Babies Room and started here in September. We were initially nervous about how he would settle at nursery as he was quite young, very particular and had not gotten
into a stable routine. However with great patience, expertise, and attention to detail from the babies staff and his amazing Key Person, in no time he was settled and thriving! He is always happy on the way into nursery, and literally launches into the arms of the friendly babies staff. All that we could ask for - great team, super clean environment, friendly and approachable manager, family events we're invited to. Baby brings home the best keepsake art (handprints etc.) and a marvellous garden! I'd definitely recommend.

The team has given tremendous support and extra effort given to my son. The professionalism and care that is given to my son are highly appreciated and I am grateful that he can have very kind teachers to help him in different ways! Furthermore, it is always touching when seeing everyone in the nursery,
not only the staff but also the little classmates, being so understanding and supportive to my son all the time. I could see the success in their effort for educating the little ones, being loving and caring always, which makes every classmate treat each other the same way in their daily lives. I am so glad that I can see my son's progress day by day since he attended the nursery, seeing him carrying a very happy smile when leaving the nursery every day proves that we have made the right decision to choose Norfolk House Nursery - Harborne Road.

Every time I drop off my baby I am reassured with the knowledge that he will be well looked after, and this gives me peace of mind. I like the fact that the children are given nutritious food throughout the day, as well as having regular nappy checks, and are cleaned when handed over.
The handovers
at the end of the day are thorough which we appreciate a lot, so we get to know how he's been throughout the day. The staff have always taken our concerns onboard; he was in Babies 1 for a while and built a bond with the staff there which made his transition to Babies 2 easier.
We're very happy and appreciate all the efforts from the staff to ensure there is a safe and nurturing environment for our baby to learn and play in. I would recommend this nursery to other parents.

My son joined as an 8-month-old baby and being a first-time parent I was quite nervous, but the team in Babies 1 were fantastic. I can't commend them enough for looking after him so well and keeping us up-to-date with all of his development and progress.
He's been at the nursery for about 8-9 months
now and we feel very reassured that he's in a safe and happy place throughout the day. We appreciate the photos the staff take, the love they show to him, and his overall progress. I have recommended the nursery to family and friends, I would recommend it to others too.

Our son has attended Norfolk House Nursery since September 2020 and it has been fantastic. They go above and beyond for the children and parents. The staff care so much, loves to teach and focus activities around the children’s interests. My son has progressed rapidly and is a confident and happy child.

If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 number of registered child places is 11.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hayley

Hayley Fox

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2009

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.


I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.

Alison Galbraith

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

I am Alison Galbraith, the Nursery Manager at Harborne Road. I joined Norfolk House Nursery in July 2014 when we first opened our doors. I have worked in Early Years for 20 years and enjoy my chosen career very much, I love that no day is the same! I enjoy working with my team, the parents and most importantly the children!


I oversee the day to day running of the nursery alongside my management team ensuring that all children are not only offered the highest standards of care and education but that it is tailored to meet every child’s needs in a safe, secure and enabling environment, where all children are comfortable and happy. My own son has attended the nursery since he was 9 months old and has made great achievements in all of his development, I couldn’t be happier!
