Abacus Ark Maida Vale is a warm and welcoming day nursery providing high-quality childcare for children aged 6 months to 5 years in a calm, supportive setting.

Located in the heart of Maida Vale, the nursery works closely with families and offers a settling-in period to support a smooth start. Government-funded childcare options are available for eligible families.

Led by an experienced Nursery Manager and a caring, professional team, the nursery delivers the Abacus Ark First Steps Curriculum.

This is a play-based approach centred on focus, independence, social understanding, and trustworthiness. Designed to support working families, the curriculum helps children build confidence, develop early learning skills, and prepare for a smooth transition into school.

The nursery follows a largely all-inclusive approach, with fees covering daily care, age-appropriate learning activities, extracurricular sessions, essential baby care items such as nappies and wipes, and meals.

Although the nursery does not have on-site outdoor space or soft play facilities, children benefit from regular outings to nearby park, where they enjoy fresh air, physical play, and opportunities for outdoor learning as part of their routine.

Children enjoy two freshly prepared hot meals each day from trusted food partner Lune & Wild, created with nutritionists to support healthy growth and wellbeing.

Absolutely love this place. On the downside, they have no outside space, but I now see this as a net benefit because the team is so proactive and the kids go out every day on little outings to the local park, or soft play etc. The staff are (without exception) super friendly and our daughter loves her
teachers. She cried for the first couple of weeks as it was all new to her, but she was looked after very well and now she can't wait to get in there every day. We especially enjoy seeing how our little girl is learning there - from new songs, to colours, words and numbers. I would 100% recommend this nursery to any prospective parent.

In addition to what you have mentioned, we also have our own garden space, albeit off-site (about 5 minutes away) which the children love to go to every day. This and the area's wonderful recreation spots and fabulous resources are on hand to provide the children with a stimulating and healthy time outdoors. We absolutely love Abacus Ark Nursery! They are doing an amazing job with our son. His day is full of new and exciting activities that promote his happiness and progress. They are also amazing in keeping us updated with posts on a private app about their activities. These small notifications during
the day are great, especially during the integration phase, to see how happy they are and to get inspired by their amazing work. The communication with parents regarding any issue with the baby is also very efficient and they always made an effort to accommodate parents' requests. I would definitely highly recommend Abacus Ark to any family and friends! Keep going with your amazing work! Thank you!

Becoming a parent was an overwhelming, all-encompassing experience and so handing over our precious, quiet, clingy daughter to the baby room three and a half years ago was incredibly hard all round. Our daughter adjusted pretty quickly and soon came to adore going to nursery and seeing her teachers.
The time has passed in the blink of an eye and this month she left a confident, articulate, funny young lady heading for "big school". It's impossible to convey in a review our thanks and pride in the team in setting our girl on the right track, other than to say we think of them as an extension of our family. The teachers' names are heard daily in our house, their songs are sung and we love hearing tales of forest school adventures or being taught dance and yoga moves they learned. Thankfully our son still attends the nursery so this isn't the end of our Abacus Ark journey.

We're delighted with Abacus and the whole team. They always have been really supportive in every aspect. My son has improved his English super fast and he always went to the nursery extremely happy. Both my sons went to Abacus Ark and they have been very well looked after by the very caring team of staff. They both enjoyed their time there and most importantly, we felt that they were safe and were loved. It is also a lifesaver for working parents as they are open the whole year except for Christmas.
They also prepare the children for school really well so they both had no problems transitioning into big school. Thank you to the staff for their dedication and kindness!

Our son joined Abacus Ark at 12 months old. We were quite apprehensive about his settling-in, but the transition from home to nursery was absolutely seamless, thanks to the incredible staff at Abacus. Over the three months, he has developed such trusting relations with the staff that he lights up when
he sees them. The activities are varied and well thought-out, and we have already seen huge leaps in his cognitive, physical, and social development. We are regularly updated on his activities and progress, so that we can reinforce the same at home. Likewise, the staff take on board his learnings at home. As parents, it's so reassuring to know that he is happy, well looked after and has had a wonderful day when we come to pick him up. We have seen our son's individuality develop and it's wonderful to see him thriving at Abacus. We feel very well looked after and supported as a family and would highly recommend Abacus Ark.

We are delighted with the Abacus - the team and the service they provide. Our son has thrived there since joining, and the staff have been incredible. They are friendly and professional and clearly care for the kids. They keep us up to date with lots of photos and videos of what the kids get up to and
fill their days with a good balance of familiar routines and new experiences. They're very creative in how they design activities, and the music and drama classes are a particular hit with our little man! It's a huge source of support to us knowing our son is safe, happy and growing with Abacus.

We love Abacus Ark Nursery! The staff are amazing - they make my daughter feel so welcome and loved and it's fascinating to see how much she copies her teacher - from their manner to their dressing style! The nursery managers are also brilliant - from managing the return from covid restrictions to resource
planning as children and staff were initially falling ill more often. The admin department is really humane too. We feel like we get heard individually even though they are a part of a chain of nurseries! So glad we go to Abacus Ark at Maida Vale. Highly recommend it!

We have absolutely loved our experience at Abacus Ark. It has been a caring, supportive, and stimulating environment for our child. We appreciate the variety of activities: books, legos, tuff table, painting; trips to the garden or soft play; drama and music teachers. As parents, we found communication
easy and helpful (through the app, email, and in-person meetings), and we loved the flexibility of the "core day" schedule option. Most of all, we've been so impressed by the attentiveness of the teachers. Our child's needs changed over time: at the start, he was anxious to be away from home, and they gave plenty of extra 1-on-1 attention. Later, they knew how to help him gain more confidence and independence. Most recently, as his verbal skills developed, they made sure to facilitate time with the older toddlers, enabling him to form some very close friendships. Our child has thrived at Abacus, and I cannot say enough good things about it.

We have always loved this nursery since our first child joined. They are caring and attentive. The activities are well planned and each day they employ an outside teacher to come in and do something specific with the children such as yoga, music, dance, and football. They also celebrate all faiths and
occasions in equal measure which the children thoroughly enjoy. Also, they teach the children in line with the early years guidelines. My children were always very happy there and I have always been very happy with Abacus Ark. There is no outdoor space at the nursery but every day the children are taken on an outing for a walk or to their local ‘garden’ not far away. This is a pleasant change of scene for the children and in my view a bonus. I would highly recommend this nursery, preschool and the staff there as my experience has been so good! They also take part in a Forest School once a week. The food is fantastic too. Thank you, Abacus Ark!

Both my son, and daughter previously, have been to Abacus Ark Nursery School and we have always been extremely happy. The staff are kind and caring towards the children and our little ones have always said how much they enjoy going. Both children have made great progress here and have had a tremendous
headstart for reception. The nursery is flexible to parents, we always pick up early and it’s never an issue and they proved through Covid that they understood our needs by reducing fees and still providing online classes and the option of purchasing food. I would (and have) recommended Abacus Ark to any parent who is looking for a nurturing nursery and preschool, I feel safe with my children in their hands.

My daughter's first steps into the nursery from day one of settling and beyond to current - all went well with her transitioning to this current day. Her very own journey, progress learning speech, behaviour and general learning and development, through her interaction with the other children and making
friends, and nursery staff my daughter always mentions names of all, (she’s so happy), as are we her parents in knowing also that she is daily in a safe environment. The activity, she enjoys the walks to the park or on the bus and daily play and not forgetting the breakfast lunch, and snacks throughout. She loves the music, drama, and to sing a song along with all, the yoga classes and football. The reporting log system that is in place for Mummy and Daddy (we much enjoy) alongside the photos of my daughter's steps throughout to keep up to date on all. A big special thank you to all the staff who works endlessly to ensure that everything is set for the children, your kindly ways love, and patience.

Abacus Ark Nursery School is a good choice for a working mother. The teachers are very lovely and kind. The team react to parents' queries quickly. Children can stay here for a long time during the daytime and the nursery never closes for a long time. Everything is very good except it would be good
if my toddler's nappy could be changed more frequently. My child will be 3 years old, an age at which other children might know how to use the potty before he knows it. It would be good to change his nappy more frequently.

My nephew has been attending Abacus Ark since July 2020, and has come on leaps and bounds. He always looks forward to nursery school and has learnt incredibly fast since starting. Staff are incredibly friendly, who are always willing to go the extra mile, I feel completely included in his learning journey

All the teachers at Abacus Ark understand my son’s personality very well, so my son really enjoys going to the nursery. They set various dairy activities for the babies to learn such as dance class and drama class, which is nice. It’s enjoyable to see my son’s pictures and videos via an app. Overall,

My daughter has progressed so much in the last year and that’s thanks to the staff at Abacus Ark. Initially sending my daughter I was quite apprehensive being the first time I’ve left her anywhere without being present, but seeing how much she enjoyed her first few days was so reassuring. The staff
always keep you updated with the progress of your child whether this is face to face, parents' evenings, or via the online learning journal. They have so much to offer in terms of the facilities/activities they provide for the children and helping to build their confidence along the way. The children also have classes based on different cultures/religious festivals across the year. My daughter is currently at the potty training stage but with the help and guidance from the teachers within 2 weeks she's confidently using the potty without being told to use it. I would definitely recommend Abacus Ark!

Our daughter has been at Abacus Ark Maida Vale since September 21, following a very sudden closing of our previous nursery. We were very anxious about how our daughter would deal with the change, but she has thoroughly enjoyed every second and that is all down to her amazing teachers. We are regularly
updated on the daily activities, there are parent evenings and most importantly, I feel that the team genuinely care about the children and are invested in them. It's a shame we didn't find Abacus earlier but I'm so glad we are with them now!

Abacus Ark is an absolute godsend. I'm generally not a person to post reviews unless I've had an extremely bad or great experience. I'm glad this review refers to the latter. We were referred to the nursery via a friend and my son has attended the nursery from 2 yrs old and is now turning 4. From the
very start, the nursery has been great. My son had been living abroad in his early months and coming back to the UK and settling into a new country and language was a massive challenge. But this was massively helped by the support and care of Abacus Ark Maida Vale. Their support, interaction, and communication has been consistently really good and helped my son to flourish into the young happy, capable boy he is today. Thank you very much Abacus Ark Maida Vale.

Kaysha Watts

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2016

Kaysha is the Nursery Manager at Abacus Ark Maida Vale and has been part of the Abacus Ark family since 2016. She began her career at the nursery as a Key Teacher and has progressed through a number of leadership roles, including Third in Charge and Deputy Manager, before stepping into the Nursery Manager position in September 2024.


With nearly a decade of experience within the setting, Kaysha brings strong knowledge of early years practice, team leadership, and family partnership. She is passionate about creating a nurturing, well-organised environment where children feel safe, confident, and supported to thrive. Her leadership style is rooted in consistency, warmth, and a deep understanding of child development.


Kaysha is committed to continuous professional development and is currently undertaking an Operations Manager apprenticeship to further strengthen her leadership skills and support the ongoing growth of the nursery.


She values the close relationships built with families and staff and believes that a happy, supported team is key to providing outstanding care. At the heart of her role is a genuine love for working with children, whose energy, curiosity, and individuality bring joy and inspiration to every day.
