Abacus Ark Maida Vale is a warm and welcoming day nursery providing high-quality childcare for children aged 6 months to 5 years in a calm, supportive setting.

Located in the heart of Maida Vale, the nursery works closely with families and offers a settling-in period to support a smooth start. Government-funded childcare options are available for eligible families.

Led by an experienced Nursery Manager and a caring, professional team, the nursery delivers the Abacus Ark First Steps Curriculum.

This is a play-based approach centred on focus, independence, social understanding, and trustworthiness. Designed to support working families, the curriculum helps children build confidence, develop early learning skills, and prepare for a smooth transition into school.

The nursery follows a largely all-inclusive approach, with fees covering daily care, age-appropriate learning activities, extracurricular sessions, essential baby care items such as nappies and wipes, and meals.

Although the nursery does not have on-site outdoor space or soft play facilities, children benefit from regular outings to nearby park, where they enjoy fresh air, physical play, and opportunities for outdoor learning as part of their routine.

Children enjoy two freshly prepared hot meals each day from trusted food partner Lune & Wild, created with nutritionists to support healthy growth and wellbeing.

Both my children go to Abacus Ark and they are both very happy. My eldest had a tough adjustment after lockdown and all staff were extremely helpful and sweet, making him feel welcome. My little one was very young and she loves nursery, which speaks to how great the place is.

My daughter started at Abacus Ark at 14 mo. I visited many nurseries in the area but immediately felt Abacus Ark was the right fit after my introduction meeting when I felt the sense of a nurturing, happy and safe environment. I am glad that I trusted my instinct because the nursery has exceeded my
expectations. Our daughter adores the teachers and is always excited to attend. The staff are incredible and professional – from the teachers who are extremely kind, loving, fun, and thoughtful to the manager who quickly responds to any questions/concerns of mine and keeps parents well informed. The children go on daily outings to the nearby church gardens or park, participate in a variety of classes (drama, music, dancing) and arts and crafts. We enjoy seeing the daily updates on the nursery’s mobile app. We have seen our daughter become more confident and independent the past few months. Her communication, social and imagination skills have significantly improved and overall, she is happy!

My son started going to Abacus at 3.5 years old after we moved from Spain - during a pandemic. He did not speak a word of English, had no friends for months because of the circumstances. He changed from day 1, became much happier, singing and sharing all his learnings. 2 members of staff, in particular,
were super kind to him, making lots of efforts to make sure he understood and to understand him. He progressed quickly thanks to the happy and dedicated teachers, he made friends and became fluent enough so that when he started school 8 months after it was really fluid and easy for him; it was a perfect step for him to transition to big school. My daughter started at 14 months in. The baby room and all the teachers made sure she was nurtured and cuddled since the beginning, so now that she speaks, she lists all of them with a big smile, and she runs to them when we arrive. She does fun things, learns a lot, and is just happy to go.

My daughter started nursery when she turned 2. She settled in very quickly, which came as a surprise as she was not used to new people (covid not helping). The lovely team members did an amazing job at making her feel comfortable. All of them are really excellent, warm and professional, which is the
most important thing to me. The nursery itself is not the most spacious one but very well organised and equipped. I highly recommend this nursery.

My son joined this nursery when he was 2 years and 2 months old. He just finished as from 2nd of September he joins reception in a nearby school. I can't say any bad word about this nursery to be honest. My son was happy there and loved his teachers extremely. The nursery is very clean, brand new inside,
the food was healthy, there were no sweets which I think is good too. When I left my son on daily basis I could feel safe and without any worries that I left him there. He was there on full-time from 8 - 4.30 so it was a long day for such a small kid. What I most like is my son became so cultural and polite. I do know that it is work partly from his teachers. Whenever we talk about some sentences he said, 'I know mummy Miss told me this'. He always mentions them.
Whenever we are getting off the bus he said loudly, 'thank you, driver', etc. They did a wonderful job as teachers and I highly recommend this place for your kids. I was also told about this nursery by a friend.

Having spent the last few years with both of my boys at Abacus Ark I can honestly say I could not recommend it enough, and I am so sad that our journey here has ended. The teachers are all so supportive, kind, and caring, and build such wonderful relationships with each and every child. Both my boys

We have had 3 kids go through Abacus Ark Nursery School in Maida Vale, two of whom have left to go to one of the selective North London private schools and one still 2.5 years old continuing his journey at the nursery. Abacus has surprised me in all the right ways over the years. The quality of attention,
care, and education they provide the children are unmatched. The teachers are very warm and they form a special bond with the children, and the children develop a sense of belonging at the nursery with their friends. Despite not having outdoor space on site, the nursery takes the kids out on a daily basis for walks or the lovely church gardens close by. They also pay special attention to ensuring the parents have a daily report of the activities the kids have undertaken, the meals, and the sleep they have had through a user-friendly app. I owe a lot to Abacus and it will be bittersweet when my youngest leaves there in a couple of years. Highly recommend it to any parent!

My son just left nursery after four years, heading to reception class. He started as a baby and he became a very confident boy, a lot thanks to his incredible teachers and the learning environment at nursery. We have always been very happy with the teachers, facilities and his learning progress towards
big school. He left the nursery being able to read, write and solve maths questions. The team are very caring and always in touch with the parents working together on achieving goals. I would highly recommend the lovely team and the nursery!

Since my niece has started Abacus Nursery she has developed and has grown in self-confidence. The staff have been amazing and have put a lot of effort into helping my niece settle in. All the staff are friendly, positive and kind. At first, my niece was very anxious attending nursery. But now she can't
wait to go in and is so excited and eager to run into the door. Whilst we wait to enter, my niece knocks on the door. Her communication and social skills have improved tremendously. When she comes home, she asks, "Hi, how are you?", and "let's sing a song!". It is reassuring and fun to log into the online learning journal, where I can view my niece's development. A combination of photos, videos, and written feedback is provided by the staff. I would highly recommend this nursery to all parents and children.

Abacus Ark is a wonderful nursery. My daughter has been there for 2 years and has been happy since day 1. The teachers are kind and supportive, very much appreciating the individuality of each child and their needs. The atmosphere is fun and engaging but not chaotic. There seems to be a good balance
of structured activities/lessons and free play, as well as outdoor activities at nearby parks. They serve 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, all healthy. They also provide nappies, wipes, etc which is convenient. We get regular updates and photos/videos of activities through an app, so we can see what the children have been doing. The nursery is very well run and handled the challenges of the pandemic very well, eg. Zoom classes and regular updates during lockdown (even hosting a parents quiz), and the re-opening after lockdown was seamless. Highly recommend.

My son started nursery at Abacus a few months ago and I’m very pleased with the nursery and my son’s progress. In the beginning, my son was having a hard time with the morning drop off but with the love and patience of his teachers and carers he began to love it. His day is packed with different interactive
and educational activities based on his abilities, as much outdoor time as possible with lovely bubble machines, fresh fruit, and games. As a parent you want your child to be happy and safe, in a positive environment that will stimulate him to develop well and Abacus Ark definitely does this well. I also get pictures and videos of his activities, some very cute, and a diary of his basic needs being met such as food intake, nappy changes, sleep time, and a few more. I hope this helps other parents when choosing a nursery as I know how stressful this can be when you don’t know if this is the right environment for their most precious.

My daughter started at Abacus in March. Since she’s started my child has progressed, she’s happy when she goes to school. I’m always updated via the app which is so lovely for me and I love one member of staff, in particular, she’s amazing. Lovely teachers as well. I’m very happy I chose this nursery.

In simple words, this nursery has provided the best possible care to my son. He started this nursery at 14 months old as a shy quiet baby and he is now the most confident and outgoing little boy who can talk in sentences, recognise the whole alphabet, numbers 1-100, all his shapes, animals, he even
knows some jolly phonics and he is only 26months old. Although we do a lot of extra work with him at home to develop his knowledge and skills, the nursery has also been paramount in how knowledgeable he is today. The team plan some amazing fun and creative activities and he is so happy to go into nursery. He loves his teachers and his friends, it is obvious he feels safe, secure, and confident. The nursery manager is also very understanding and flexible where possible. I rate this nursery 10/10 and recommend it to anyone considering a place for their child!

I would definitely recommend Abacus Ark Nursery. My son Joseph has attended during the 2 past years Abacus Maida Vale and I’m really thankful to all the team for their hard work, kindness, patience, transparency, and their ability to adapt, particularly during the covid period, with both parents and
children. My son is almost 3 years old and he is able now to tell all the months of the year, he counts very well both in French and English, he knows many songs and he is very excited and happy to attend the nursery every day, which is actually the best sign for parents. We can also feel that the teachers love their job and are really invested in the children’s development. My little one really enjoys doing many different activities from painting to cooking and gained a lot of autonomy throughout the year. So we will only keep good memories from Abacus Ark nursery and I would encourage everyone to discover their great team and lovely atmosphere!

I have two children who attend this nursery. From the moment I saw it in person, I knew this was the right one and I was never disappointed. The nursery itself is bright and cheery. The teachers have been incredible. My three-year-old son writes numbers and letters very well and has learned so much
since he started. He adores his teachers and you can see why. They’re genuinely caring, attentive and encouraging to the kids while teaching them manners and how to follow routines and rules. My youngest son was a late talker and he came on leaps and bounds through his schooling and has become a confident young kid who chatters away and loves to get involved in everything. They post regular updates on what the kids are up to on an app and the range of activities they do is amazing. I couldn’t speak more highly of this nursery. They’re brilliant!

We were very fortunate to get into this nursery! We were looking for a nursery during the lockdown period and most nurseries did not let you go inside, and how can you choose a nursery? When I met and made a virtual tour of the nursery Abacus Ark(Maida Vale), my heart suggested to me that it was the
one. After communicating with all the nurseries around, I can say with accuracy, in this nursery your child will be in good hands! It is very clean, teachers are just wonderful: caring, kind, creative and positive! Despite the fact that they do not have their own territory outside, they are constantly walking out! Also daily creative classes: drawing, dancing, music! The settling period passed quickly and painless for the child and for mom! The child loves this nursery, our key teacher is just amazing! She is very professional, kind and full of love and it is felt by both mom and child.
I recommend from all my heart, the best nursery in the district!

Prior to Abacus Ark, I had visited a couple of schools in Maida Vale that were deemed to be the best. However, in my opinion, they did not compare to this nursery. The teachers at Abacus Ark are loving, energetic, and work extremely hard to cater to the interests and needs of each child. The teaching
is of a high standard and they truly prepare all of the children for the next stage of education – primary school. I cannot recommend this nursery enough. Please do not be put off by the fact that there is not an outdoor play area. Personally, it has not been a hindrance at all (and I don’t have a garden). The children visit the park daily and on their journey, they learn about road safety, how to conduct themselves, and an array of other factors. Selecting this nursery has been one of the best decisions that I have made! I have been unbelievably happy sending my son to this nursery, and for two years he has been unbelievably happy being a part of this nursery. I love Abacus Ark.

I have had both of my children go to this nursery and I'm honestly going to be so upset when they leave. Abacus Ark gives off such a wonderful, loving vibe, every child is looked after and loved like the individuals they are. They are supported by such a wonderful group of staff, with such passion for
each of the children. The facilities are great - security is very reassuring and nothing is too much trouble for them. Can't recommend enough.

child is nurtured in the way that suits them best. This isn’t even mentioning the academic side of things (where both my kids learnt all their sounds and numbers to 20 before starting school). Such a lovely range of activities too, it really is the best of both worlds. I am a teacher myself and been in countless nurseries in my time, Abacus goes above and beyond on every level and I just feel so lucky my two little ones got to experience it.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2016

Kaysha is the Nursery Manager at Abacus Ark Maida Vale and has been part of the Abacus Ark family since 2016. She began her career at the nursery as a Key Teacher and has progressed through a number of leadership roles, including Third in Charge and Deputy Manager, before stepping into the Nursery Manager position in September 2024.


With nearly a decade of experience within the setting, Kaysha brings strong knowledge of early years practice, team leadership, and family partnership. She is passionate about creating a nurturing, well-organised environment where children feel safe, confident, and supported to thrive. Her leadership style is rooted in consistency, warmth, and a deep understanding of child development.


Kaysha is committed to continuous professional development and is currently undertaking an Operations Manager apprenticeship to further strengthen her leadership skills and support the ongoing growth of the nursery.


She values the close relationships built with families and staff and believes that a happy, supported team is key to providing outstanding care. At the heart of her role is a genuine love for working with children, whose energy, curiosity, and individuality bring joy and inspiration to every day.
