Abacus Ark Maida Vale is a warm and welcoming day nursery providing high-quality childcare for children aged 6 months to 5 years in a calm, supportive setting.

Located in the heart of Maida Vale, the nursery works closely with families and offers a settling-in period to support a smooth start. Government-funded childcare options are available for eligible families.

Led by an experienced Nursery Manager and a caring, professional team, the nursery delivers the Abacus Ark First Steps Curriculum.

This is a play-based approach centred on focus, independence, social understanding, and trustworthiness. Designed to support working families, the curriculum helps children build confidence, develop early learning skills, and prepare for a smooth transition into school.

The nursery follows a largely all-inclusive approach, with fees covering daily care, age-appropriate learning activities, extracurricular sessions, essential baby care items such as nappies and wipes, and meals.

Although the nursery does not have on-site outdoor space or soft play facilities, children benefit from regular outings to nearby park, where they enjoy fresh air, physical play, and opportunities for outdoor learning as part of their routine.

Children enjoy two freshly prepared hot meals each day from trusted food partner Lune & Wild, created with nutritionists to support healthy growth and wellbeing.

My child has attended Abacus Ark since he turned 12 months old and he's been there for the last 8 months. It is such a fun and stimulating environment and the teachers come up with lots of creative activities to keep the children engaged and learning through play. My son really enjoys his time there
and he has developed a strong bond with several of his teachers and I believe he is very well cared for and supported. My son also loves the weekly activities which include a dance class, immersive sensory music classes and soft play. He has surprised and entertained us with the dance moves he has learned at nursery several times! We are very happy we chose Abacus Ark for our son. The teachers and managers are all excellent.

My daughter has been attending Abacus Nursery since she was 1 year old. Leaving your tiny baby to the care of others can be quite stressful, but the love and attention she has received at Abacus are truly unmatched. Now 2 years old, she adores Abacus and looks forward to going there each day. Her excitement
in the mornings and her contentment when she leaves demonstrate how happy she is. She is blossoming and acquiring new skills rapidly, thanks to the thoughtfully planned and engaging daily activities.
The teachers and staff at Abacus are truly exceptional. They show immense love and care, and they ensure that parents are kept well-informed on a daily basis. I am now pregnant with our second and have already enrolled the baby at Abacus - that's how much we trust and appreciate the wonderful care they provide.

My daughter is always so happy to arrive at the nursery, the team is so welcome, and always in a good mood.
They do so many activities, go outside, to the park etc.
The app is really helpful if you want to check what your child does step by step during the day.
And it's easy to communicate with
the team.

Our son started there when he was just 1 year old and is still attending now, he loves to go and asks to go even when it is closed.

Abacus Ark Nursery School is truly an exceptional place for young children to grow and learn. The staff are all incredibly caring and dedicated, and they go above and beyond to create a warm and nurturing environment.
It's clear that a lot of thought and planning goes into every aspect of the program,
from the daily activities to the materials and resources used in the classroom. My sons have learned so much during their time at Abacus Ark, and they always come home excited to share what they've been working on.
But what really makes Abacus Ark stand out is the sense of community that they've created. It's more than just a nursery - it's a place where families can come together and meet each other. The staff are always available to answer questions and provide guidance, and they truly care about the well-being of each child.
Overall, I would highly recommend Abacus Ark to any family looking for a nurturing and supportive environment for their young children. It's been an absolute pleasure!

Abacus is an amazing nursery I put all my children there and all the time had an amazing experience. The staff is really warm and welcoming with each kid. My daughter who is 2 always come back with new nursery songs to perform at home.
Even if they don’t have an outdoor space they can ale the opportunity
to bring the children out every day. I can’t recommend it more !! 5stars

The nursery staff have made an induction to daycare for my little one really nice and in a nurturing and caring way. My child is very happy there and has shown significant progress in learning and development since joining Abacus Arch a few months ago. I recommend this nursery to all the other parents.

Our daughter has been at Abacus Ark for a year, recently transitioning from the baby room to the toddler room. The nursery is really well run in several regards - the staff are very caring and adaptive to each child’s needs, and the parent communications strike just the right balance (both in terms
of feedback at the end of the day and in terms of periodic photo/video updates on the app), and the staff provided helpful advice and reassurance around our child’s move to the toddler room and other development stuff. Most importantly, our child has been very happy!

When my son joined the baby room of Abacus Ark, Kilburn, he was about to turn 1 year old. I was still breastfeeding him and he was all about Mum. He played with peers and relatives but didn't want to eat or sleep with anyone else, not even his dad. Until he met two members of staff! With a lot of perseverance
and kindness, they managed to involve him and get him used to the big change: five days at nursery, 8 am to 6 pm. Now he is 19 months old: in the morning he wakes up and hands me his own hat and coat, and points out his pram and door because he loves to go to the nursery. He is able to feed himself, clap and dance. I am a proud mum and thank the nursery’s personnel for giving me the peace of mind I need at work. I know that my baby is in safe hands. He falls sick from time to time, it’s normal, and you will get annoyed as a parent. But it’d be pretty much the same in every nursery. I wouldn’t go back and leave him with a nanny. Even the best nanny cannot compete with all activities they organise.

My child started the nursery at 13 months old and has loved it ever since. There is a great atmosphere and plenty of educational activities. They provide additional classes, such as football, music, drama and yoga.

My son has been at the Abacus Ark Nursery School in Maida Vale for more than a year now. His settling-in period was smooth and the whole team was very warm with him from day one. Although there is no garden/outdoor space, the kids visit the nearby parks on a daily basis and have a variety of activities.
There is also a new soft play space opposite the nursery that the kids visit often. Other activities include football, yoga, dancing etc. Every time I pick up my son, he is happy and full of energy. He has learnt a lot and become independent and more confident with the help of his teachers. There is also a calendar via an app that is updated on a daily basis with information on their schedule, food and sleeping habits, pictures from the activities etc. I'm happy with the nursery and the team and would recommend it to other parents.

First of all, many thanks from the heart, for all your hard work, love and patience with the children. My son has been at Abacus Nursery for almost one year now. He is so happy there, it feels like a second home to him. Every day there is a new activity or experience planned. All the staff were wonderful,
caring and so supportive. Our son has always been happy when arriving at the nursery in the morning and when picked up in the morning and when picked up in the evening. He has learned a lot. We feel very lucky that we've found such a great nursery with a good educational environment for children.

My daughter was in this nursery's 2-3 year group. The nursey is so warm, like a big family! My daughter went in and settled really quickly under the care of her key person. I really appreciate their personal and affectionate approach to each child. We had to leave due to a location issue but I highly
recommend this nursery and appreciate everything the staff have done for my daughter. Although they don't have their own garden, they took children out on daily basis to parks nearby and my daughter loves it. They also have a dedicated soft play spot where they organised parties for family and the location is very clean and well organised. Lots of activities for parents to join if you want to be more involved. So again, highly recommend, thank you for everything!

Our son has been in Abacus Ark for more than 2 years now and we couldn't be more happy and thankful that we made the decision to choose Abacus Ark as his nursery. Over the last 2 years, he developed a very remarkable bond with the teachers, staff and his peers. Every time I pick him up from the nursery,
he would be so excited to tell me all the wonderful things he did that day with his friends and what he learned from his teachers. He is always excited to come back the next day! We have seen his confidence and character develop over time, with the help of the lovely team from Abacus Ark. He always looks forward to show and tell. Abacus Ark has given the children and the parents a sense of community, with the family brunches, inviting us to their celebration theme parties. we're always updated with my son's development, learning and activities with the daily journal. My son has been attending Abacus Ark Nursery for over two years, and he is so happy there it feels like a second home. Many thanks to all the staff for their hard work, love, dedication, and patience with the children. All of them are so welcoming, hospitable and well-disposed. I am happy that my son,
now aged 33 months, knows all the colours, shapes, alphabet, animals, counts until 30 speaks English fluently (knowing that I'm Arabic) and now they're helping with potty training. The good thing I appreciate is the timetable they are offering kids since they are in the baby room: they take them to the park and the library, and they have dance, football, Yoga, and drama classes. I also like how they create activities from real life. For example, I liked when they took them to the bus station to learn everything about buses, explore the police car and speak to the mailman. This is so helpful in preparing children for life and for school! I highly recommend this happy and wonderful environment!

We have had two children attend the nursery and we are incredibly happy with the care provided. Both boys love their time with fantastic and caring teachers. Our eldest has just started school and his ability to transfer and thrive is a testament to how his teachers have taught. We thoroughly recommend.

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Kaysha Watts

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2016

Kaysha is the Nursery Manager at Abacus Ark Maida Vale and has been part of the Abacus Ark family since 2016. She began her career at the nursery as a Key Teacher and has progressed through a number of leadership roles, including Third in Charge and Deputy Manager, before stepping into the Nursery Manager position in September 2024.


With nearly a decade of experience within the setting, Kaysha brings strong knowledge of early years practice, team leadership, and family partnership. She is passionate about creating a nurturing, well-organised environment where children feel safe, confident, and supported to thrive. Her leadership style is rooted in consistency, warmth, and a deep understanding of child development.


Kaysha is committed to continuous professional development and is currently undertaking an Operations Manager apprenticeship to further strengthen her leadership skills and support the ongoing growth of the nursery.


She values the close relationships built with families and staff and believes that a happy, supported team is key to providing outstanding care. At the heart of her role is a genuine love for working with children, whose energy, curiosity, and individuality bring joy and inspiration to every day.

Daniel is also available to support families with any finance-related questions, including funding options, invoicing, and payment queries. His long-standing commitment and in-depth knowledge make him a reliable point of contact for both parents and staff.
