Acorn’s nursery in the lovely village of Stanwick offers a homely atmosphere in which children can relax and have fun whilst learning and socialising with their peers.

The nursery has a team of qualified, experienced and dedicated staff, including an early years teacher, and they provide the best possible care for children in a happy and secure environment. Staff are dedicated to providing high quality care and education for children aged four months to four years, working in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop.

Children have use of two main group rooms, a ‘secret garden’, and a large Forest School area a short walk from the main nursery. All the nursery meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen by the nursery cook who provides nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetising.

Children have use of two large outdoor spaces, one being a private garden at the back of the nursery, which offers a woodland area, space for children to be active and a stream. Acorn also have their own forest school field a few minutes’ walk away for children to explore and discover the environment through a range of activities, including the opportunity to learn how to use tools safely and learn about fire with their in-house forest school leader.

The team strive to make the nursery a place where positive and close relationships with children and parents are welcomed and valued. They believe it is important to create a home from home experience where children feel happy, safe and secure, and as a result, thrive within their nursery.

I can't recommend Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) enough!
I was an anxious first-time mum and wasn't keen on sending my little boy to nursery but the whole process has completely changed my mind and put me at ease.
My little boy loves to play there and feels comfortable with all of the staff just as
he would our family and friends.
The staff always update us with how he is and are always helpful with any questions I may have.
I'm so glad I didn't choose a different nursery.

So pleased our little girl is able to attend nursery here - the staff know her very well (she's attended since she was a year old) and gives frequent updates via the app and in person. Healthy food range (she eats everything!) and really enjoys forest school and all the outdoor activities like village
walks, playground and nature activities (eg making bird feeders). Liaison with primary school
In the village and they take part in community events eg harvest festivals. Staff have also been accommodating in allowing her to stay an extra year so she can start at CSA 5. Very efficient re messages and accounts. Would recommend it to anyone!

Excellent provision that truly knows and understands my child, giving him both the space and support to grow and thrive whilst in early years. He is happy at nursery and we're so happy to have found such a wonderful space for him to be.

I couldn't recommend Acorn Day Nursery any more. They go over and above for families. I sent my first son here and when choosing for my second I was toying between a more local nursery for the commute but the benefits of Acorn just outweighed the longer journey! My son loves forest school, and the garden
especially! The attention they pay to each child's needs speaks volumes. They also support parents too, with many needs, contactable over the phone or the app. I wouldn't choose any other nursery!

We chose this nursery as my daughter attended a few years previously. I wouldn't have wanted to send my son anywhere else. The staff are all brilliant and clearly enjoy working there and providing the children with interesting indoor and outdoor activities. They go outside most days and into a variety
of locations. My son is always happy to attend and comes home a happy but tired little boy! Fully recommend.

Our daughter really enjoys coming to nursery and it is clear how far she has developed since starting. Overall we are very happy with Acorn nursery and all the staff we have been in contact with. As our daughter has progressed through the nursery the staff have always been kind, professional and approachable
to address any concerns or worries from us as parents. It appears that our daughter partakes in a range of activities and enjoys her days at nursery. We would happily recommend this nursery to other parents.

We have been really happy with both of our children’s experiences at Acorn. Currently, we have one child in Oaks and one in Acorns. The staff are always friendly and helpful and both of my children are happy to go into nursery each day. The communication is great from the nursery and everyone is always
willing to answer questions if we have any. Thank you.

My son has been attending Acorns Nursery for about three years now and he loves it! He adores the staff and he always comes home telling me about the huge range of fun activities they do! The nursery staff are fantastic and I’m sure that their encouraging approach has really helped my son to grow in
confidence (especially as he was a Covid baby).
I get regular photos and updates on what he has been doing, how he is developing and any areas in which I can support more him at home. Throughout the year, parents are invited to stay and play sessions with their children, and I always value and appreciate the opportunity to see how settled and comfortable he is.
The admin team are very responsive and goes above and beyond to support me with queries.
I honestly couldn’t speak more highly of the staff, the activities and the management of the nursery and would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

Acorn Day Nursery is fantastic. Our little girl has settled in really well there and enjoys every session. With lots of outdoor activities, which was one of the main reasons we chose Acorn. She is growing in confidence each week and the regular updates on her progress are amazing. Plus reading what
she’s had to eat on the app is great!

I am so pleased we ended up choosing Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick). It ticks all the boxes, from the play environment, the staff, the focus on outdoor play, the great communication and the lovely food. We couldn't be happier sending our little one there. He also has a whale of a time and has made some
lovely friends.

My daughter has been attending now for 6 months and is enjoying every moment. She settled in great, the staff are amazing, they really have a brilliant bond with the children. The whole team provides excellent care, always happy to answer any questions.
The facilities are brilliant especially the
outside secret garden and the forest school.
The staff have really helped my daughter with her speech and can see huge improvements in her development since she started. We are delighted with the nursery.

I can't recommend Acorn in Stanwick enough! They have been great with both of my children in all 3 of their rooms. Their staff are all kind and caring and everyone goes the extra mile to ensure the children are not just cared for, but taught and happy. The office staff have always been so accommodating
with changes to bookings and extra sessions and their facilities are amazing! My kids love the forest school and secret garden and always do a range of activities that they talk about at home. A super environment for kids to thrive in!

My son has been attending Acorn Day Nursery since September 2022 and has grown in confidence since going. All staff are welcoming and approachable, you can tell they all care for each individual child and their development and wellbeing. The communication throughout the nursery from admin to nursery
staff is great. Regular observations and daily updates on the app is brilliant. A great range of activities and toys inside and out. A perfect environment for my son to grow, learn and most of all have lots of fun.

We have loved everything about this nursery. We love how welcoming the staff are, the flexibility with the hours and the kindness and compassion shown by the staff.
Our little girl only took a week to settle in and I truly believe this is due to the safe and fun environment she was going into. She
now runs in without looking back and as her mum, it's so reassuring to see!

My child was welcomed from the very beginning. I have always felt relaxed and comfortable that my child is exposed to activities and people assisting in the development all round as a whole. One of the reasons I wanted my child to attend Acorn was because of their outdoor activity options, with walks
to the local allotment, the garden onsite and the forest school.

Our little boy started Acorn Stanwick nursery in September 2021. He was a very shy and not confident boy. And here comes his last day at nursery before he starts school. Amazing transformation, thanks to all the staff he has grown so much, full of confidence and 100% ready for school. Highest recommendation
from our family. Nursery and its environment is great, staff are great and very caring, forest school is amazing. Only good things!

Both my children started nursery before they were 1. They seem to really enjoy going and I very rarely have any concerns about their well-being. They always come home happy and tired out. We often notice new skills in our children and realise that this is something we can thank the nursery for teaching
them.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.936) out of 10 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.936 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is calculated as follows: ( (281 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 299 Ratings = 4.936
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 number of registered child places is 16.2, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
