Acorn’s nursery in the lovely village of Stanwick offers a homely atmosphere in which children can relax and have fun whilst learning and socialising with their peers.

The nursery has a team of qualified, experienced and dedicated staff, including an early years teacher, and they provide the best possible care for children in a happy and secure environment. Staff are dedicated to providing high quality care and education for children aged four months to four years, working in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop.

Children have use of two main group rooms, a ‘secret garden’, and a large Forest School area a short walk from the main nursery. All the nursery meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen by the nursery cook who provides nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetising.

Children have use of two large outdoor spaces, one being a private garden at the back of the nursery, which offers a woodland area, space for children to be active and a stream. Acorn also have their own forest school field a few minutes’ walk away for children to explore and discover the environment through a range of activities, including the opportunity to learn how to use tools safely and learn about fire with their in-house forest school leader.

The team strive to make the nursery a place where positive and close relationships with children and parents are welcomed and valued. They believe it is important to create a home from home experience where children feel happy, safe and secure, and as a result, thrive within their nursery.

The staff are always friendly, approachable and professional. They have helped in dealing with behavioural problems and also been supportive to the family when needed.
We are given lots of information including photos of her progress which is lovely.
Her key worker attends the necessary meetings and
helps with her progress reports including suggestions of further help.
Forest school provides the children with the adventure they need, and a garden provides opportunities to run around and explore. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Stanwick Acorn nursery to others.

All three of my children have gone to Acorn, Stanwick and the nursery has only got better! The staff are all so amazing and really think out side the box to let the children explore during play! My daughter loves how much time they spend outside, the secret garden, forest school and spotting horses
around the village!
I can't recommend Acorn enough, they really make the children feel part of a big family!

Both of my children attend Stanwick Acorns, and we couldn't be happier with their care.
Both are excited to attend nursery, and come home excited to tell us about everything they have been doing.
The staff are kind and engaging and we get very regular updates of what the children have been up to, alongside
more detailed assessments with areas we can collectively support for further development. It feels like the staff are all fully invested in our children alongside us, and we are so grateful to have found such a wonderful nursery!

Acorn Nursery are outstanding in the care and attention they provide for our children. There are opportunities each day for the children to explore outside in safe environments, village walks and forest school activities. The meals provided are balanced and full of nutrients. The staff are all absolutely

Choosing a nursery is a big decision, but Acorns Stanwick has been the perfect fit. The staff provide a gentle, nurturing atmosphere that has really helped our son thrive. We've been particularly impressed by the outdoor-focused activities, which we feel are so important at this age. Seeing him engage
in important learning and play outside is wonderful for his development. He always tells us about the Forest School.
They do so many activities across all the rooms and the children love them .
The staff are professional, warm, and clearly dedicated to what they do.
Our son always goes in the nursery with the biggest smile on his face in the mornings .
Couldn't be more happier with the choice we made 3 years ago when our little man started this nursery.

Our son Reuben has attended Acorns in Stanwick since he was an infant. 3 years down the line and we cannot recommend these guys enough. Reuben loves it and the staff are lovely.

Reuben gets all the emotional and educational support he needs. We love that they spend a lot of time outside and that

all the toys are made of natural materials and not cheap plastic.

They are also open during term time so we dont have to worry about taking time off or child chare during these periods.

Being a not for profit organisations the fees are also affordable.

We are extremely happy with this nursery and couldn't recommend it more highly.
The staff are kind, patient, and genuinely care about each child's wellbeing and development. I especially love that the children are taken outside every day, whatever the weather, and the forest school is absolutely amazing.
It's wonderful to see how much confidence, independence, and curiosity this builds in the children. The environment is safe, welcoming, and stimulating, with plenty of activities that support learning through play.
Communication with parents is excellent, and it's so reassuring to know our child is happy, settled, and well looked after every day.

Thank you for all the hard work and dedication you all put into caring for the children's.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. My daughter has attended the squirrels room and is now in Oaks - she absolutely loves going to nursery and her confidence has just come on leaps and bounds since attending. I was so nervous sending her to nursery but after viewing and meeting all the staff all
my fears disappeared and I'm so so glad I chose this one. Every single member of staff I've come across is absolutely lovely and you can tell they truly love and nurture the children. They get to explore so much - one of the reasons I chose this nursery was for the forest school aspect as my daughter loves being outdoors and I'm so impressed with how much the children learn and get to experience, the crafts they get to do etc. The app updates are extremely thorough and really shares an insight into what the children get up to in the day. I would recommend this nursery to anyone and am looking forward to my son attending this year :)

We absolutely love this nursery and everything they do for our boys. It truly feels like a home from home. Every single member of staff is so kind, caring, and genuinely invested in the children. We especially love the outdoor element - both of our boys thrive being outside, and the addition of forest
school for our eldest has been amazing. He has absolutely loved the campfires and outdoor adventures. It really is such a lovely nursery, and we feel incredibly lucky that our children get to go here.

I honestly couldn't love this nursery any more!
I have one child currently in the oaks room, but have been using the nursery for the past 7 years as I have an older one at school.
The nursery facilities are fabulous, both my boys love forest school, the secret garden and the allotment.
Being outside
was a huge part of the choice of nursery for us and this has not disappointed one bit.
The staff are wonderful! From the team the looks after the children, through to the lovelies in the office, they are all kind and helpful and willing to go the extra mile.
Making the decision to leave your child somewhere "alone" is not easy, but I honestly couldn't felt more relaxed and happy knowing how well he is cared for.
Thank you

Both our son and daughter having been going to Stanwick nursery since they were around 1 year old. They settled well into the baby room and all the ladies in there are brilliant at supporting the transition into nursery and providing all the cuddles that are needed.
My eldest will be finishing his
nursery journey at the end of August to start school. He has loved his time at acorns and has always gone into nursery with a big smile on his face and skip in his step.
We have found the team in the oaks room truly incredible, they have nurtured and supported learning in a fun and exciting way and spend lots of time outdoors, which is much needed for an energetic little boy. He has really enjoyed the forest school sessions which he has attended much more since being in Oaks.
The office team are fantastic and very fast to respond to any queries.
I think a really positive sign of a nursery is seeing longstanding staff and a varied age of staff with many years of experience.

We feel so lucky to have our little girl attend nursery here. Our daughter was 9 months old when she started and it was a tough decision to find the right nursery (especially after only living in the local area for a month). It's safe to say it was absolutely the right decision, we totally landed on
our feet. The staff are wonderful! kind and caring with our little girl. We've seen her development come on leaps and bounds and love that it's all child-led learning and play. The app is amazing and keeps us parents updated with their activities, observation reports (which i love - especially the photos and write ups) and general events throughout the day (food, changing times, milk times, naps etc). The meal options are wonderful, our daughter is vegetarian and she has a wonderful variety + the protein she needs to grow healthily. We fell in love with the forest school/secret garden outdoor areas + village walks. It's a beautiful nursery filled with equally wonderful people!

Our son is currently in his final room at Acorns and is absolutely thriving. He is a very outdoorsy boy which is one of the reasons we chose this setting and the Oaks team clearly all share the passion for the outdoors. We've also noticed that the team really focus on an individuals likes and help them
to express themselves in a productive and positive way.
The insights shared on the app are great and allow us to see which areas our son is particularly enjoying at the moment, we also use the app to upload things we have been doing in our own time which the team then discuss with him.
Whenever there have been issues with behaviour the team communicate this well and allow us to see what might be causing it and any actions we might want to implement at home.
I'm so pleased that this is the setting he will be in before he starts school and feel it will have set him up well for his next steps.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) to anyone. When I describe it to anyone, I tell them it's exactly how you would want a nursery to be, in every capacity.
All the ladies in the Acorn (baby) room are so friendly, so warm and so loving towards the children and I've never
had any concerns. Our daughter's key worker in particular is exceptional and the bond she has with my daughter is so special. Seeing how much our daughter has flourished since she's been in the Acorn room has been incredible. It looks like she has so much fun every day, so many great opportunities, and incredible food and I love the developmental updates we get regularly too.
Whilst the nursery is further than we would have liked to travel, I'd happily travel further for the exceptional care my daughter gets.
It's all a parent could ask for, and I'm so happy with our decision to put our daughter into this nursery.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.936) out of 10 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.936 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is calculated as follows: ( (281 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 299 Ratings = 4.936
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 number of registered child places is 16.2, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
