  • Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick), Wellingborough
Acorn’s nursery in the lovely village of Stanwick offers a homely atmosphere in which children can relax and have fun whilst learning and socialising with their peers.

The nursery has a team of qualified, experienced and dedicated staff, including an early years teacher, and they provide the best possible care for children in a happy and secure environment. Staff are dedicated to providing high quality care and education for children aged four months to four years, working in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop.

Children have use of two main group rooms, a ‘secret garden’, and a large Forest School area a short walk from the main nursery. All the nursery meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen by the nursery cook who provides nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetising.

Children have use of two large outdoor spaces, one being a private garden at the back of the nursery, which offers a woodland area, space for children to be active and a stream. Acorn also have their own forest school field a few minutes’ walk away for children to explore and discover the environment through a range of activities, including the opportunity to learn how to use tools safely and learn about fire with their in-house forest school leader.

The team strive to make the nursery a place where positive and close relationships with children and parents are welcomed and valued. They believe it is important to create a home from home experience where children feel happy, safe and secure, and as a result, thrive within their nursery.

Excellent nursery. The staff have always got time to talk. The children always seem happy and my daughter seems to do a real range of activities. She has had so many lovely experiences at the nursery and developed many skills and learnt lots of new ones.

Our son has been here for just over 3 years and he loves it. We've never had any issues along the way and his keyworker over the last year has been fantastic with him, particularly managing his emotions. We would highly recommend this nursery for any child.

My daughter has been attending Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) since she was 9 months old. During her time at nursery, she has been happy, settled and thoroughly enjoyed herself. She has thrown herself into the Forest School activities, even in the snow and will these regular sessions. The secret garden
gives them a chance to get messy and run off some steam.
The staff, whilst they do change, have all been wonderfully supportive and work with the children who require additional activities to meet their needs when they are above their age level!

When my son started at Acorn Day Nursery we had been having issues with his temper and emotions.
The staff have been truly amazing and supporting in every way and my child has really come on.
It is mine and my husband's belief that this is down to the wonderful care he has had at Acorns by all staff.
Wonderful,
one happy mummy.

My son started back at nursery after the Christmas holidays and has enjoyed numerous trips to Stanwick Lakes, lots of pre-school preparation, such as collecting items with the 'weekly letter' and going on walks and spotting numbers. The nursery really seems to be encouraging my son to learn in preparation
for school in September and are doing it in a fun way that helps him want to learn. All the staff are extremely welcoming every morning and always tell me about his day and something 'positive' that he's done when I collect him.

My little girl loves going to nursery at Acorn (Stanwick). The staff are lovely and always give plenty of feedback about the day. The outdoor spaces are amazing, my daughter particularly enjoys Forest School as she loves the mud and crafting they do as well as the meals they cook over the open fire.

My child started the nursery in April. Both myself and my husband were really apprehensive about leaving our child with strangers (non- family members). The nursery offer 4 settling in sessions where we could stay with him. All the staff were really reassuring and supportive to the family and gave regular
updates on how he was, including pictures. The staff didn't make us feel silly, they were really understanding. My child now looks froward to going and runs straight to his key worker with a big smile.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.936) out of 10 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.936 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is calculated as follows: ( (281 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 299 Ratings = 4.936
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 number of registered child places is 16.2, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
