Acorn’s nursery in the lovely village of Stanwick offers a homely atmosphere in which children can relax and have fun whilst learning and socialising with their peers.

The nursery has a team of qualified, experienced and dedicated staff, including an early years teacher, and they provide the best possible care for children in a happy and secure environment. Staff are dedicated to providing high quality care and education for children aged four months to four years, working in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop.

Children have use of two main group rooms, a ‘secret garden’, and a large Forest School area a short walk from the main nursery. All the nursery meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen by the nursery cook who provides nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetising.

Children have use of two large outdoor spaces, one being a private garden at the back of the nursery, which offers a woodland area, space for children to be active and a stream. Acorn also have their own forest school field a few minutes’ walk away for children to explore and discover the environment through a range of activities, including the opportunity to learn how to use tools safely and learn about fire with their in-house forest school leader.

The team strive to make the nursery a place where positive and close relationships with children and parents are welcomed and valued. They believe it is important to create a home from home experience where children feel happy, safe and secure, and as a result, thrive within their nursery.

Both my children started nursery before they were 1. They seem to really enjoy going and I very rarely have any concerns about their well-being. They always come home happy and tired out. We often notice new skills in our children and realise that this is something we can thank the nursery for teaching
them.

Acorns have been looking after my son for the past six months. I’ve always found the staff welcoming, well-informed and helpful. The environment is well equipped for supporting the early development of key skills.

I am delighted with how well my son has settled into the nursery, leaving us happy to leave him in their care. He is happy to go to the staff every day and they all seem genuinely pleased to have him. The staff have also been particularly supportive of his feeding issues and have worked closely with
us around this. I have also appreciated their flexibility around my work.

Both our children have been to Acorn in Stanwick. I am always confident when I leave them knowing they will be well cared for and will have a great time.
The staff set up a wide range of fun activities which also encourage the children with their learning and development.
We love seeing the updates
on the app which include photos and a written description of what the children have been doing and how they are progressing.
Pre covid it was always lovely to be invited in for activities/events and to join the children at a forest school session.

Acorn nursery have been incredibly welcoming and accommodating since my son started with them last summer. From the admin team to the chefs and on the ground staff, everyone shows real care and enthusiasm for their job. My son’s key worker is brilliant and has been incredibly supportive of him during
his time there. I also know that he is in safe hands when she is not there as the other team members know him well and are regularly involved in his care. How they have coped during the pandemic has been admirable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others.

We have trusted Acorn with both our children, the eldest has now moved up to school and our youngest is still in the nursery. We love the outdoors activities they do with the kids and the fantastic walks and activities inside the nursery as well. The staff are just fantastic, both our kids have loved
going, so that really speaks volumes about the relationships they build there.
Also the detailed information and photos the staff put on the app, mean you can enjoy a bit of what the kids have been up to as well. I would recommend Acorn Day Nursery to anyone.

We couldn’t be happier with how Acorn have nurtured both our daughter and son. The outdoor provisions, combined with the creative indoor learning activities are thoroughly engaging, educational and lots of fun for any child. Our little ones have enjoyed every day of their time there, feeling safe and
happy. Our youngest gets separation anxiety whenever we have to leave him somewhere but Acorn deal with this sensitively and it takes no time at all for our little one to become immersed in his day there. It speaks volumes that both of our children have always returned home from Acorn with massive smiles on their faces and stories to tell. I would 100 percent recommend the nursery.

My experience of the nursery has been a fantastic one. When our son began there in the Squirrels at age 3-years he wasn’t able to talk much but fast forward to now being an Oak, he never stops talking and is very expressive. He learns so much there and is doing very well. The staff are absolutely fabulous
and have worked wonders with him, he thoroughly enjoys his days there which is comforting to us as parents, we are very grateful for all that they do.

My son loves going to this nursery, they have lots of activities, including forest school and playing in the garden. The kids learn through play without knowing it. They have a good individual approach with the children, tailoring the activity to the child's ability. Experienced staff make a big difference.
My son also loves the food and sitting down together to eat it.

My children love going to Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick). They have a brilliant bond with both the other children and the staff. As parents, we love the activities that the children get involved in, especially forest school as we think it is incredibly important for children to learn and be in the great
outdoors. The staff are always quick to respond to messages, incredibly flexible and create a great environment for the kids. Thank you all at Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick).

Our little boy has been at Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) since he was 10-months old, he is now 4-years-old and will be going to primary school in September. We have never had any issues with the staff and any concerns we had about situations amongst the children were sorted promptly. Our little boy has
always been very happy to go to nursery and has always been excited to tell us about his trips to forest school, the park and the allotment. His teachers support him well and have built lovely bonds with him. They keep us well-informed about activities he has done during the day and they encourage him to try new things. His learning and development have been supported well and he has absolutely thrived in Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick).

My son has loved all the outdoor activities they do, he’s always busy doing something outside and there is lots of learning through play, both indoors and outdoors. The staff are understanding and supportive in managing behaviour and accept each child for who they are without judgement. Lots of singing

We are very happy sending our daughter to Acorn nursery in Stanwick. She is always happy to go and the staff there are amazing! We love hearing about all of the activities she gets to take part in and are so glad that she spends lots of her time outside exploring nature. We have found the nursery great
at communicating with us and we love reading detailed observations about her time there. We are very pleased that we chose Acorn and feel our daughter has gained such a lot from attending the nursery.

Acorn is a wonderful nursery that I cannot recommend enough to any prospective parent who is considering applying for a place. The staff are so wonderful and they immediately put you at ease. I never have any worries when I drop off my child for the day and it is total peace of mind knowing that they
are being well looked after and are always getting engaged with the range of activities that is provided for them. Our child also has additional sensory needs and Acorn have been so hands-on with helping us get the help they need with so much patience and ease it’s been truly refreshing. The support is really amazing that the staff have provided and continue to provide and we are completely reassured that they are getting the best care. From outings to forest school and gardens to engaging indoor activities, it really is a well-rounded educational setting that has something for every little one to really help them thrive.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.939) out of 10 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.939 for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is calculated as follows: ( (293 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 311 Ratings = 4.939
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorn Day Nursery (Stanwick) is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 number of registered child places is 16.2, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
