Norfolk House Nursery provides full-time and sessional day care for children aged three months to four-years-old, within a spacious Victorian house, that is situated close to Norfolk House School.

A team of skilled and professional childcare staff offer children the opportunity to spend all of their time learning, supporting them in a carefully developed learning environment. Staff work together ensuring that children are safe at all times as they learn and grow in a light, airy and spacious environment.

All rooms at the nursery are carefully designed and furnished with solid maple furniture and encompass a range of activity areas including: role-play, science and discovery, construction, art, wet play and literacy.

The nursery has its own secure grounds with a secret garden, log cabin, staged area and musical gazebo where children can benefit from storytelling, ball and sand pits, vegetable and plant boxes and a fruit growing area. All of these things encourage and support each child's learning and development, while offering them the chance to get fresh air and exercise regularly.

Norfolk House Nursery - Norfolk Road, has been brilliant for our daughter. Throughout quarantine, they have been in daily contact, either to update us as to their own policies and openings, to ask us how we are, or to send us activities or updates from the nursery for us to do with our daughter at home.
They've also arranged regular Zoom calls so that our daughter can see the nursery staff and some of her friends who are still in attendance. It's been really helpful and encouraging to see the effort and dedication that the nursery and their staff have gone to, so as to keep in touch with us. With our daughter going back to nursery it's been great to see that in a lot of ways she has just picked up where she left off and seems comfortable, confident, and safe when there. Obviously, a huge part of this is the great staff who look after her every day and who we know she's very fond of. I would recommend the nursery to anyone.

Our daughter started here in January at the age of 11 months and we have been really very impressed indeed. The facilities are great and the garden has been fantastic in the nice weather. The menus put together by the chef are fantastic and varied.
In particular, I want to say how happy we are with
the standard of communication from the nursery manager - we really feel that she has a detailed knowledge of our daughter and her needs, and her cool-headed approach during the COVID-19 pandemic has been exemplary.
Finally, we have really appreciated the way that the nursery staff have continued to work in order to keep the nursery open during the pandemic to look after Keyworker children (which inevitably involves risks to their own health). This has always been with a smile and a positive attitude (special mention to the two staff who have had a lot of contact with our daughter over the last 12 weeks).

Our son has been attending Norfolk House Nursery since August 2019 and we have been really happy with the care he's had there. The staff are always friendly and have taken delight in looking after him and watching him grow. The facilities are excellent, particularly the outdoor space. Communication
from management and room staff is always timely and effective. The nursery have been particularly supportive around the current coronavirus pandemic, with excellent resources disseminated to parents and the nursery remaining open to keyworkers' children.

My daughter has just recently started Babies 1 in this nursery and it's been lovely. We had a phone call letting us know about how she was getting on. When I come to collect my daughter I always get told what she has done in the day and how much food she has had. My daughter has really settled in well
as she sits and cuddles with the teachers there already. I'm really happy that she likes it here and all the staff are very helpful.

I collect my granddaughter from Babies Two at Norfolk House once a week. I always find her smiling and happy, she is clean and freshly changed. I am told everything she has done in the morning, what she has eaten and any other relevant information. Her key worker hands her over, enquires what we may
be doing in the afternoon and everyone we see as we walk down the stairs and out the door knows her name and says goodbye. There is such a lovely family feel about the place and a genuine warmth and interest in the children and their lives, both in and out of the nursery.
The facilities, staff, information boards and outside space are all excellent and the most is made of everything the nursery has to offer.

Our daughter loves Norfolk House and has made amazing progress since she joined. The staff are really supportive of her development and seem to really care how she is doing. Recently when she was poorly even the handyman wished her well as we were leaving early. Will be sad when she has to go to school.

My son started at Norfolk House Nursery in July and I’m so pleased I chose this nursery. The management and staff are great, friendly, and helped my son settle in really well. I cannot praise this nursery enough, the staff are very friendly, caring and patient and have gone the extra mile to make sure my son settles. I am very grateful to all the staff for looking after our precious little one so well. I know he is in safe hands I can go to work without worrying about him.
I am very happy with his development. The staff have listened and responded to us and they are always happy and bright. There is a great working relationship between staff in his room, communication is regular, immediate, effective and professional, activities are varied and have really promoted my son's speech and understanding. I would highly recommend it to any parent or carer.

All my children have been coming to this nursery and they have always been amazing with all of them. My youngest started this Sept 2019 and she was very unsettled, but with the help and support from all the staff she is now happy. The staff have been fantastic.

My daughter has been attending Norfolk House (Harborne Road) since April.
The facilities are great, there are always events and activities planned.
The outside space is very big so the children have enough room to run around and explore.
The biggest attraction to this nursery has to be the staff.
They are always friendly and kind. If you have any queries or concerns they go above and beyond to facilitate. The staff genuinely care for the children who attend and this reflects in my daughter's love for the place. My daughter really enjoys her time at the nursery. We feel we definitely made the right choice.

A safe, friendly and welcoming nursery that my son looks forward to attending. They have lots of fun activities to do both inside the well-stocked rooms and outside in the large clean and green secure space. The food menu is well varied and healthy with access to fresh fruit throughout the day. The
staff are all excellent and I have full peace of mind while at work that my son is being well cared for.

Our Daughter has been attending Norfolk House since 2016. She is quite a cautious child but her confidence and independence have grown hugely in the time she has been there. The staff are welcoming and caring and even staff who work in different rooms knew her name from early on.
The staff work really
hard and are always enthusiastic and encouraging. They make sure the transition between rooms is gradual and were really supportive of our daughter when she moved to the preschool room, which she found a bit challenging. The activities are fun and varied yet educational and there is a good range of additional optional activities too, including some day trips which our daughter loves.
The outside space is great and we really like the fact that the children go outside daily whatever the weather. There is plenty of space to run around and lots of fun areas for them to explore.
Overall we are really pleased with Norfolk House and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to other parents.

My child had been in the nursery for 15 months now. He has been in the babies and toddler rooms. The dedication of the staff to organise different and original activities on a daily basis is brilliant. They regularly rotate the room and ‘set’ play areas around ensuring each day is new for the children
in their care. All of the staff are so friendly and know my son's name. Great family feel to the whole nursery.

My child has been attending the nursery since he was 10 months old and he has grown both socially and with confidence over the last 18 months. After a tricky start, he now loves to go and play all day. Staff helped both myself and him with the morning drop-offs at the start, it was hard to leave a sobbing
child to begin with, but I knew he was in the best hands very quickly. He is now in toddlers (which he loves) and his language has developed massively. You can really see a difference.
I can’t fault the staff, they work extremely hard and their focus is on the children having a fun but educational day. They are attentive and take each child’s needs into account. The team also help the parents too, I can work in my job last minute and they will always try to accommodate extra sessions. The opening hours also help me personally to be able to work.
Overall I’m really pleased with choosing Norfolk House and would recommend to anybody.

Staff are caring and responsive, and the manager, in particular, makes you feel confident that any issues will be sorted quickly. Our son loves nursery, and in particular the wide range of extracurricular activities on offer. Who knew at 2 years old he’d know the Spanish word for dinosaur!

Great, caring staff. They have a great rapport with my daughter. I feel that she is in great hands. The nursery has a great range of activities including Spanish which my daughter loves. My daughter gets lots of stimulation from being at nursery.

My 3-year-old daughter has been going to Norfolk House Nursery since 10 months old. She has transitioned from babies to toddlers to preschool. In each of the classes, the staff are friendly and helpful to the parents. They show great care in keeping the children safe but also to encourage the children
to have fun and learn as well. The nursery is very clean despite the numerous activities the children are encouraged to do. There is a garden in the back which is very large which gives plenty of room for the children to run around. My daughter really enjoys the food at the nursery and often only needs a light snack in the evening. I like the fact the nursery does not depend on televisions or electronic games to entertain the children. This has helped her get more into books and imaginative play - her speech has also improved rapidly since moving into preschool class. My daughter has eczema and this is well managed by the staff who apply cream daily.

We recommend this nursery as we estimate the services are at a high level. The supervision of the kids is good and they are all conscientious. The activities proposed to the kids are different each day of the week.

Our daughter currently attends Norfolk House Nursery - Norfolk Road, she has been at the nursery for 3 years and she has loved her experience throughout. All the staff are fantastic and nothing is ever too much! The nursery offers lots of activities and experiences for the children to get involved with
including fun days out. The food for lunch and tea is always of a high standard as well as providing a good balanced diet, I would though like to see more breakfast options but other than we cannot complain.


The team in preschool are doing a fantastic job, it’s wonderful to hear our daughter tell us what she has been learning and doing, learning about famous monuments and the solar system, we are also very happy with the emphasis the staff put on ABC’s, phonics and numbers! We were especially impressed with the handcrafted Christmas decorations! Overall a great range of other activities are also offered from football, tennis and pyjama drama.

Hayley Fox

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2009

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.


I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.


My team and I would be delighted to show you around our setting, explain further the service we provide and answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to make contact me, and I look forward very much to meeting you in the future.

I started working at Norfolk House Nursery in 2011 as a Nursery Nurse. Over the years, I have progressed throughout my career transitioning from Nursery Nurse to Senior Nursery Nurse, Room Leader, Deputy Manager, and now Nursery Manager. I enjoy every minute of my time working at Norfolk House Nursery.


I believe our high standards, and passion to give all children the very best start in life is something to be proud of! We strive to give each child the best care and education that they deserve!


It has been a pleasure to meet so many lovely families during my time, which makes me so excited to become Nursery Manager at Norfolk Road after 10 years, I can’t wait!
