Norfolk House Nursery provides full-time and sessional day care for children aged three months to four-years-old, within a spacious Victorian house, that is situated close to Norfolk House School.

A team of skilled and professional childcare staff offer children the opportunity to spend all of their time learning, supporting them in a carefully developed learning environment. Staff work together ensuring that children are safe at all times as they learn and grow in a light, airy and spacious environment.

All rooms at the nursery are carefully designed and furnished with solid maple furniture and encompass a range of activity areas including: role-play, science and discovery, construction, art, wet play and literacy.

The nursery has its own secure grounds with a secret garden, log cabin, staged area and musical gazebo where children can benefit from storytelling, ball and sand pits, vegetable and plant boxes and a fruit growing area. All of these things encourage and support each child's learning and development, while offering them the chance to get fresh air and exercise regularly.

My child has been attending the nursery since he was 10 months old and he has grown both socially and with confidence over the last 18 months. After a tricky start, he now loves to go and play all day. Staff helped both myself and him with the morning drop-offs at the start, it was hard to leave a sobbing
child to begin with, but I knew he was in the best hands very quickly. He is now in toddlers (which he loves) and his language has developed massively. You can really see a difference.
I can’t fault the staff, they work extremely hard and their focus is on the children having a fun but educational day. They are attentive and take each child’s needs into account. The team also help the parents too, I can work in my job last minute and they will always try to accommodate extra sessions. The opening hours also help me personally to be able to work.
Overall I’m really pleased with choosing Norfolk House and would recommend to anybody.

Staff are caring and responsive, and the manager, in particular, makes you feel confident that any issues will be sorted quickly. Our son loves nursery, and in particular the wide range of extracurricular activities on offer. Who knew at 2 years old he’d know the Spanish word for dinosaur!

Great, caring staff. They have a great rapport with my daughter. I feel that she is in great hands. The nursery has a great range of activities including Spanish which my daughter loves. My daughter gets lots of stimulation from being at nursery.

My 3-year-old daughter has been going to Norfolk House Nursery since 10 months old. She has transitioned from babies to toddlers to preschool. In each of the classes, the staff are friendly and helpful to the parents. They show great care in keeping the children safe but also to encourage the children
to have fun and learn as well. The nursery is very clean despite the numerous activities the children are encouraged to do. There is a garden in the back which is very large which gives plenty of room for the children to run around. My daughter really enjoys the food at the nursery and often only needs a light snack in the evening. I like the fact the nursery does not depend on televisions or electronic games to entertain the children. This has helped her get more into books and imaginative play - her speech has also improved rapidly since moving into preschool class. My daughter has eczema and this is well managed by the staff who apply cream daily.

We recommend this nursery as we estimate the services are at a high level. The supervision of the kids is good and they are all conscientious. The activities proposed to the kids are different each day of the week.

Our daughter currently attends Norfolk House Nursery - Norfolk Road, she has been at the nursery for 3 years and she has loved her experience throughout. All the staff are fantastic and nothing is ever too much! The nursery offers lots of activities and experiences for the children to get involved with
including fun days out. The food for lunch and tea is always of a high standard as well as providing a good balanced diet, I would though like to see more breakfast options but other than we cannot complain.


The team in preschool are doing a fantastic job, it’s wonderful to hear our daughter tell us what she has been learning and doing, learning about famous monuments and the solar system, we are also very happy with the emphasis the staff put on ABC’s, phonics and numbers! We were especially impressed with the handcrafted Christmas decorations! Overall a great range of other activities are also offered from football, tennis and pyjama drama.

Our son has settled into Norfolk House nursery without any problems. He’s sometimes tearful at drop-off as doesn’t want to be away from me too long, but the nursery staff are very friendly and excellent at distracting him and getting him immediately involved in activities/playing with other babies.
We value the detailed feedback on activities, naps and nutrition, at the end of each day.
I was delighted when we received a bag of our son’s handmade crafts just before Christmas, something the children had been creating for their families in the run-up to the Christmas break. It clearly required a lot of effort and planning from the nursery staff (personalised snow globes, footprint pictures etc), and was really appreciated.
Most food goes down well with our boy, I’d like to see the odd cake and pudding replaced with fresh fruit if possible.

My first interaction with the nursery was back in 2013 when I came to view the nursery. Later in 2013, my eldest daughter joined in babies at 10 months. She was extremely happy at the nursery and very well settled. When the eldest left for school my younger daughter joined NHN, once again starting in
babies and then transitioned through and is currently in Pre-school.
My experience at NHN has been very positive and all the staff are great. Both daughters built great bonds and memories. The nursery is great at taking on feedback and suggestions which they try there hardest to accommodate where possible.
Great activities and facilities available to the children and daily routines. The extracurricular activities are great and my daughter loves taking part in these. Overall, a great experience to date!

My experience with Norfolk House Nursery started back in 2010 when my eldest daughter joined - and what a journey it has been! Nine years on my youngest is now in his final year at the nursery and happily settled in Pre-School. I have had a really positive experience with all the staff at the nursery
-they have been very accommodating. It's so positive to see the bonds that my children have made with their key workers- my daughters still remember their experiences at nursery and love to share them with their brother! Over the years the nursery has taken on feedback from parents and used this to further strengthen the relationship between the parent & staff. The facilities available to the children are amazing and staff are always exploring different activities to ensure all needs are met. I love the extracurricular activities that are made available to the children - my son loves Spanish. I couldn't believe it when he recounted the numbers 1 - 10 in Spanish, I was one very proud mummy!

We're really happy with the service provided by Norfolk House Nursery.
It's clear that all the staff really know our little boy, his habits and his character. They provide lots of stimulating activities - loads of arts and crafts, playtime and time outdoors. He loves it there and is very settled. We

First of all, it is clear to see that all staff enjoy their job just from the level of enthusiasm and liveliness they show on a daily basis. This helps to create a positive environment, where a child can thrive easily! Secondly, I like how the children are treated with respect and their opinions/ideas
are valued. The staff are attentive to the children and choose activities around a child's interest to enhance learning further. Thirdly, there is a lot of emphasis on outdoor play and regular trips to the outside world, which is great for broadening the horizon and creating a foundation for creative thinking. Finally, I love how the children seem to pick up literacy skills quite well in pre-school. My child has become more confident and well-rounded after starting here. The only change I would like to see is perhaps more lentil/beans on the vegetarian menu instead of Quorn, a heavily processed protein substitute (I appreciate Quorn is popular across all places).

My son has recently started at the nursery and settled in brilliantly. He can sometimes have a little cry when first dropping off but the staff deal with this brilliantly and I know that they don't last long at all.
The Preschool room he is in do a great deal to bring on his learning and education
and I have already noticed a change in his understanding. He comes home with wonderful artwork that he has done in the day and he wants to tell me all about it. More importantly, I know he is happy and well cared for, which to me as a busy working mum is more important than anything else. The staff have all seemed to have taken him under their wing and given him the support he needs. Fab nursery! Couldn't have asked for more!

I have been a parent of children at Norfolk House Nursery since 2015 and I have always been impressed with the standard of care provided for all ages. The setting is a loving and caring environment, where the staff work incredibly hard to deliver imaginative learning. With my eldest having just started
school, the children are well set up to make an excellent start in their academic life, whilst at all times also being well cared for in a happy environment.

A wonderful, caring nursery who have looked after and developed our children for the last 6 years and our third daughter is attending in April 2018. All of the staff are friendly and approachable with key workers identified for each child. The management is readily available for a chat and clearly,

My son has been at nursery since he was 9 months old and is now in the preschool room. He has had excellent care the whole way through the nursery and has made fantastic bonds with all staff at the nursery. Everybody that works there is friendly and will always make me feel welcome. His development
and knowledge has grown massively over the past 2 years. I couldn't be more proud of the nursery I have chosen for my son, every staff member goes the extra mile and the care is fantastic!

We have been with the nursery since our little one was 9 months old. The staff are excellent and our key workers have been second to none, Our little one has had such great relationships with each one, they really do care. The food is fantastic and the chef is very polite taking on any adaptations or
food intolerances your child may have, he’s always open to suggestions.


We have been impressed with all the extra curriculum activities and the effort that goes into planning each day with activities that teach new skills. Resources are different in each room but change related to the age of the child, equipment is also refreshed so that children aren’t playing with the same toys all the time.


The garden facility is one of many reasons as to why we chose the facility. It’s a great outdoor space with lots to entertain the children during all weather types, it especially comes into its own in the good weather when the children spend most of the day outside.

Hayley Fox

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2009

I am Hayley Fox, the Senior Nursery Manager. I oversee all three of our nurseries, sharing my time between them and working closely with the Nursery Managers who are responsible for their day-to-day operation. We have found that this arrangement further enhances the level of service we are able to provide and keeps us at the very forefront of Early Years education.


I have worked in Early Years education for 22 years. I started work at our Norfolk Road setting in April 2009, some five months before it opened its doors. I have therefore been able to recruit staff, plan and implement policies, and develop best practices in all areas from the Nursery’s very inception. My own daughter attended the Nursery and progressed through every age group, which has enabled me to view it from a parent’s perspective.


My team and I would be delighted to show you around our setting, explain further the service we provide and answer all your questions. Please do not hesitate to make contact me, and I look forward very much to meeting you in the future.

Over the years, I have progressed throughout my career transitioning from Nursery Nurse to Senior Nursery Nurse, Room Leader, Deputy Manager, and now Nursery Manager. I enjoy every minute of my time working at Norfolk House Nursery.


I believe our high standards, and passion to give all children the very best start in life is something to be proud of! We strive to give each child the best care and education that they deserve!


It has been a pleasure to meet so many lovely families during my time, which makes me so excited to become Nursery Manager at Norfolk Road after 10 years, I can’t wait!
