Acorns Whitchurch is located in a grand Victorian house in the heart of Whitchurch and welcomes children from birth to five-years-old.

The nursery is very much at the heart of the community in Whitchurch. The children enjoy lots of visits from local visitors such as fireman, policeman, dentists and visits to the local care home for singing sessions are always eagerly anticipated by the residents.

The large windows and high ceilings ensure a light and airy space in the playrooms where the children enjoy a variety of activities such as music time, dressing up, sensory equipment and the book corner.

The little ones can enjoy activities such as sand and water play, jelly play, painting and specialist trikes and scooters ensure that even the most active boys and girls get to use up all their excess energy.

Excellent nursery. Caring and compassionate staff that do over and above for every child. As a parent, the staff have made the experience of leaving my child to go to work a very reassuring and easier experience. My two children have both adored the staff caring for them and their nursery experience.

My daughter joined Acorns in June this year and struggled to adapt at first. However, as a result of excellent facilities, management and more importantly kind and enthusiastic staff (especially those who are in the caterpillar group), she has flourished. She is now happy coming to nursery but has also
much more enthusiasm at home, due to the new skills she has gained and the new experiences she has encountered.

My son has attended Acorns since April 2019 and we as a family, could not be happier with our choice. The nursery was recommended to us by a number of work colleagues who have used the nursery over the years. As first-time parents we were nervous about the approach to starting nursery and settling in,
Acorns staff did all they could to support and settle our son.
The care provided to the children and array of activities is all you could hope for from someone else caring for your child. The staff really are a fantastic asset to the nursery. There have been occasions we have collected our son outside of ‘normal’ collection times when parents are not necessarily expected. We have seen at these times the same care and gentle dispositions as when parents are expected.
We would not hesitate in recommending this nursery.

We have used Acorns for seven months now and couldn't be happier with the care of our son. The environment is always clean and the staff are friendly and caring. They offer a range of activities and a variety of opportunities for learning. They offer a healthy varied menu and a safe environment. We

All staff have been very welcoming when my 2-year-old daughter had to move nursery due to the closure of her previous one. Despite only attending the nursery one day a week, everyone knows who she is and they are quickly getting to know her. The facilities are fantastic and she always comes home telling
stories about her day (even if she does cry every morning).

I am impressed with the day to day running of Acorns Whitchurch. I have recommended the nursery to other parents in the area. All the staff are professional and the nursery is clean. My child is always very happy to attend and has forged excellent relationships with their peers and with the staff who
care for them. As a family, we enjoy the parent/nursery link that is provided, so we have an insight into our child's day and their social and educational development.
Our child has been at Acorns Whitchurch for over 12-months, I have been satisfied with the new management and feel that, if I ever wish to speak to a member of staff or a senior manager they are all very approachable and that any concerns are dealt with efficiently.
The warmth and empathy from your experienced nursery nurses is something that makes this nursery so special. I enjoy chatting with key workers upon collecting my child and it is evident that they genuinely care for my child. Which is so reassuring as a parent.

Fantastic nursery, setup, day to running and staff are fantastic! My daughter has been there 6 weeks and very much a mummy’s girl so expected her to take a lot longer to settle. She already loves attending Acorns all down to the staff that look after her - really have made the going back to work process
for mummy a lot more stress and worry-free knowing she’s settled and happy!

Acorns, and in particular Acorns Whitchurch, was recommended to me when I had my first child in 2014. Everybody I spoke to seemed to recommend this nursery. I visited and didn’t even go to see anywhere else. It was exactly what I was after with the bonus of such strong recommendation.
One of the difficulties
I came up against recently is the need to have an odd extra day. I appreciate this is something a business cannot always guarantee, especially as the nursery runs at capacity. However, being as Acorns has multiple institutions they were able to arrange a place elsewhere. The staff were complete professionals and very welcoming to my child.
The investment in their staff is also very apparent.

My daughter has been coming to Whitchurch for past 3 years and she loves coming. Activities are always fun and interesting and lots of creative projects. The outdoor space is lovely including a forest school which she really enjoys. Staff are excellent and highly recommend.

The team have been great with settling in and supporting our daughter as she started nursery when I returned to work. The team are very supportive of her individual needs and carefully hand over at the end of each day. They were also very supportive when I found it hard to leave my daughter for the

My little girl has been going to Acorns for 9 months now and I have been thrilled with her care. The staff are wonderful and she is thriving there. She has some intermittent health needs and the staff are confident and competent dealing with these so I can happily leave her without worrying while I

Acorns Whitchurch is a fantastic nursery. Our daughter was looked after by many wonderful caring and friendly staff. She thrived and we felt she was in safe hands from a young age which was very reassuring. At the first session when she was seven months old, we felt the staff really listened to and
understood our daughters individual needs and allayed any concerns we might have about her sleeping, feeding and general happiness. Staff are amazing during inevitable periods of attachment issues but the team are flexible and helpful and do extra things to help with tricky morning drop-offs. At pick up we were always greeted by a happy busy little girl. The range of activities are excellent with a real focus on building early skills and experiences. We loved parent's evenings seeing pictures of what she had been doing and read the one to one observations the staff had made every day. Excellent value for money, with food and nappies included. We will definitely use Acorns again.

Vicci McTiffen

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2005

Vicci has worked for Acorns since 2005 and has worked as a Nursery Manager at Acorns Aviva and Acorns Duffryn before Acorns ONS. She particularly enjoys seeing the children develop from babies to pre-schoolers and the pride of seeing them head off to school.


Vicci has two children who attended Acorns and Acorns Action Pak.
