Acorns Whitchurch is located in a grand Victorian house in the heart of Whitchurch and welcomes children from birth to five-years-old.

The nursery is very much at the heart of the community in Whitchurch. The children enjoy lots of visits from local visitors such as fireman, policeman, dentists and visits to the local care home for singing sessions are always eagerly anticipated by the residents.

The large windows and high ceilings ensure a light and airy space in the playrooms where the children enjoy a variety of activities such as music time, dressing up, sensory equipment and the book corner.

The little ones can enjoy activities such as sand and water play, jelly play, painting and specialist trikes and scooters ensure that even the most active boys and girls get to use up all their excess energy.

What a great space for young children to play and learn. The activities keeping the children engaged and entertained are wonderful. From the short time I spend in the Nursery on collection, its so clear to see everyone working alongside these small people, they really do care.

We couldn't be happier with the Acorns. From the moment we first visited, it was clear how warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring the team are. Every member of staff takes the time to get to know the children as individuals, and it really shows in how settled, confident, and happy our daughter is each
day.

The environment is safe, stimulating, and full of thoughtful activities that support learning through play. We love seeing the variety of creative projects, outdoor exploration, and social development opportunities she's given - it's obvious a lot of care goes into planning her days.

Communication with parents is excellent, with regular updates, photos, and feedback that make us feel involved in her progress. Most importantly, we have complete peace of mind knowing she is cared for by people who are kind, attentive, and truly invested in the children's wellbeing.

We feel very lucky to have found such a lovely, supportive place for her to grow and learn.

My youngest child is currently attending the nursery, and has been for three years. Our choice to send them was never in doubt, after a fantastic experience with our older child.

Some of the staff have changed, managers too since our eldest went, but the standard, quality and environment have remained

consistently high.

The nursery space is large, welcoming, stimulating and safe. The children have a varied week with different activities, play, educational methods, tools etc. and they have a lovely garden. The children are taken to the local park, library, coffee shop!

It is one of the more expensive nurseries, but it is clear why and is worth it.

The staff have a been a great support to both of my children and me, over the years. We'll all feel it, when our journeys to Acorns and seeing the staff comes to an end.

We couldn't be happier with Acorns Whitchurch. From day one they've been incredibly caring, supportive and welcoming, and we genuinely feel at ease and happy leaving our daughter there. The level of quality, compassion and professionalism shown by the whole team is outstanding.

The nursery is always

potless and well organised, and the range of activities is fantastic. Our daughter has so much fun there and it really shows - she can't wait for her nursery days, which is so reassuring as a parent.

The management team are fantastic and all of the staff are so lovely. It's clear they truly know and care about every child, even those in other rooms. A special mention to the baby room staff for supporting us so seamlessly through the transition into nursery and back to work life - it made such a difference to our family.

The app updates are brilliant and reassuring, the food is great, and the lovely extras like festive evenings really show how much thought and care goes into everything

My daughter started at Acorns this year. All the staff, including the cleaning staff, have been wonderfully welcoming and our daughter seems to love it here. Everyone has taken the time to get to know the children and their own personalities. We like the regular updates on the app, and it feels like
they do a lot of activities and trips to make the days special. Really feels like a home from home.

My son has attended this nursery since he was 9 months and he has always loved attending. The staff are brilliant, providing a comforting, fun and supported day. We are always provided with detailed feedback on my son's day, to include any development milestones being met during his attendance. The
activities, care and food provided make this nursery more than worth its fees and I would and have recommended to all parents.

My son is thriving at Acorns and I'm so, so happy we chose this nursery for him. The staff are wonderful, so caring and really take the time to get to know each child and their personalities. They actively encourage and promote his development, for example with communication, potty training and social
skills. We had a few "alternative" requests such as offering a vegan diet and using cloth nappies, all of which have been happily accommodated without any issues whatsoever. I can't recommend Acorns highly enough!

My son has been going to Acorns now for coming up to 2 years, and he absolutely loves the place.
He has made some fantastic friends there's and likes to tell us everything he gets up to.
The staff are really just the best, they always make the children so happy and special, and are always happy to
talk about your child's progression. They put on so many activities for the children and you can tell they just love it.
They are also fantastic at catering for children with different dietary needs. My child is vegan and he is never left out of anything.

My daughter has now been in Acorns Whitchurch over 2 years. To say they are excellent is an understatement.
Right from the start every staff member has taken the time to get to know my daughter, learn her likes and dislikes, and at every opportunity they have gone out of the way to make sure she is
as happy as can be.
We have also felt extremely supported as parents, through potty training, applying for funding and what life will be like post nursery.
On the days our daughter doesn't attend she asks "is it a nursery day?" and is gutted when we say no. That should tell you everything you need to know.
We couldn't be happier with the fantastic care they provide.

Acorns Whitchurch provides a homely feel for my daughter and this is the standout feature in comparison to other nurseries from personal experience and that of friends. The environment is always clean with comfy furniture and well-prepped play areas. The food and variation of menus are excellent. Most
importantly, I always feel that every staff member cares about my child and visibly other children around her. They know where she is, and how she is and interact with her excitedly. This makes me confident that it's the next best place to be home.

This is a wonderful nursery. The manager and her staff do an amazing job of looking after my daughter. She has the most wonderful time there and has developed so much since she started. I feel that she is safe and loved (I don’t worry about her at all when she is there which is priceless), but also
positively challenged to take on tasks that support her development. I honestly do not have a negative thing to say about Acorns Whitchurch and have recommended the nursery to several people already.

Acorns Whitchurch really is best in class. My daughter absolutely loves (and I mean absolutely loves!) her carers, especially two in particular. She has formed exceptionally strong bonds in the short time she’s been going, which I am sure is entirely down to the way they approach her care. My son went
to Acorns a few years ago and he had a very similar experience, which is the primary reason we decided on Acorns when it was time to choose a nursery for our daughter.

I throughly recommend Acorns Whitchurch. Both our daughter and now our son have attended. They have both received exceptional care.
The day is structured and they do lots of activities to stimulate and aid their development. They have a varied menu of nutritious food, and the overall atmosphere of
the nursery is warm and homely.
We receive excellent verbal and written communication from the whole staff team about their day. Most importantly I feel confident when I drop them off that they are being well looked after and are safe.

Our child has been at Acorns for nearly two years full-time. She has come on so much in terms of language, confidence and socially with other children. The staff at nursery are amazing and every member of staff knows our child and where she is, whoever answers the door.
The manager is always available
for advice and is extremely approachable when queries are made. 10/10 nursery and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I am extremely satisfied and happy with the wonderful Acorns team. I was a very anxious and tearful mother when I first sent my 9-month-old baby to Acorns. They let me stay for 1 settlement session which helped me witness the spotless nursery and the excellent care they give the children. My baby comes
home cheerful and also is happy to be with them when I drop her in the morning. Some excellent points worth mentioning - clean and spotless nursery, the girls are loving and very tidy. The provision to collect my baby from inside the nursery is just amazing and satisfying. The amazing work of the kitchen staff is worth mentioning too. To summarise, I would recommend Acorns Whitchurch wholeheartedly to anyone.

We couldn't be more pleased with Acorns Whitchurch. The team are so hard-working, friendly and very caring. The kitchen team are brilliant, providing an exciting menu for the kids and happy to cater for individual needs. Our son was on a non-dairy diet and the manager offered to order in the only milk
alternative he liked. Our son enjoys his nursery days it's really important knowing he's being so well looked after. The team run family visit opportunities to see the kids and put on a brilliant nativity. The nursery is always lovely and clean, the outside space is fantastic and they have great activities including visits and sports provision.

I'm a first-time parent and I was nervous about sending my son to nursery. I researched and toured a few of them and found Acorns Whitchurch to be the best one for us. I wasn't wrong because now we have been going there for almost a year and we absolutely love it. The staff are well trained and very
nice people. We found our son has additional communication needs and the management and staff have been a massive help to us and our boy. They even purchase special toys and make flashcards to help my son communicate better and enjoy his days in nursery a bit more. The nursery is always spotless and the food selection is great. They have a high hygiene rating which gives me a lot of confidence in them. They truly care about the children and look out for their best interests. I will be sad to leave them when my son goes to school.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.337)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.337) out of 10 for Acorns Whitchurch is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.992 for Acorns Whitchurch is calculated as follows: ( (119 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.992
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.345 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorns Whitchurch is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 number of registered child places is 16.8. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.595
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
