Acorns Whitchurch is located in a grand Victorian house in the heart of Whitchurch and welcomes children from birth to five-years-old.

The nursery is very much at the heart of the community in Whitchurch. The children enjoy lots of visits from local visitors such as fireman, policeman, dentists and visits to the local care home for singing sessions are always eagerly anticipated by the residents.

The large windows and high ceilings ensure a light and airy space in the playrooms where the children enjoy a variety of activities such as music time, dressing up, sensory equipment and the book corner.

The little ones can enjoy activities such as sand and water play, jelly play, painting and specialist trikes and scooters ensure that even the most active boys and girls get to use up all their excess energy.

A superb nursery. Calm, well-managed and spotless. The staff always have a smile and we are always greeted by name by anyone who answers the door to us on a morning. The atmosphere is happy, fun and relaxed. And amazingly organised and quiet, given the number of busy small people they are minding. My
children are known individuals and time is taken really getting to know them. The facilities are lovely, especially the outdoor space. And Boris the tortoise is a great addition to the team. Acorns Whitchurch, allows me to put my work head on without any hesitation that my daughters are being totally cared for. And my children love it there. My toddler is always brimming with excited chatter about her day when I collect her and refers to Acorns as 'friends' not nursery.

We have found Acorns to be a very friendly and approachable setting for my child.
The care, attention and support all the teacher's show is visibly noticeable as soon as you enter the nursery.
My son loves the activities they do on a daily basis and looks forward to setting about this day of Acorns
with all this friends and teachers.
A very well high standard establishment with all the learning needs a child/baby requires.

My daughter began with Acorns at 7 months which was a great time to start and attends 2 days per week. She has recently moved up to the toddler group and has a wonderful bond with the carers in both groups. She experiences wonderful things at the nursery through the activities and interaction with the
other children as well as the seasonal/themed events. During times she has been poorly, which are inevitable particularly at the beginning, I have been thoroughly pleased with the nursery's response going above and beyond in the care and compassion they give. She seems to be growing into a confident and talkative little girl which has been supported by Acorns Whitchurch. Other family members' children have attended the nursery in the past, some of whom are now in high school. Staff who looked after them are still working there now which I think speaks volumes for the organisation.

Fantastic setup and extremely friendly staff. All staff seem to know all the children which makes my son feel more at home when he arrives in the morning.

The only downside is that there is no wraparound care option for the local school, but this is minor in comparison to how happy my son is attending.

Acorns is a calm and welcoming environment. All the staff are friendly and approachable, and my child’s key workers know him really well. We get detailed feedback at the end of each day. The variety of food available on the menu is excellent. The activities planned are fun and educational. The garden
is also a lovely place for the children to play. I would recommend Acorns Whitchurch as a nursery.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.943)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.943) out of 10 for Acorns Whitchurch is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.986 for Acorns Whitchurch is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.986
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.957 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorns Whitchurch is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 number of registered child places is 16.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.357
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
