The recently refurbished Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School Newbiggin makes you feel like you've gained new family members when you meet their friendly, approachable team at their purpose-built, all-on-one level nursery.

Their ParentZone app keeps parents informed about life at nursery with photos from their day, assessments, meals are eaten and even toilet training progress! They are big on safety which is why all their staff are Paediatric first aid trained.

The nursery are Green Flag eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences. They have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and take care of each other and the world.

They have 5 Little Pioneers to help share their core values with children, such as encouraging them to be independent to expressing their feelings.

The nursery has an outdoor play area that is surrounded by the remainder of the building, making it a safe and secure environment for children to play in. Staff and children take advantage of all of the local amenities which include two play areas, one at the entrance to nursery and one at the rear.

The nursery was open and very inclusive wherein kids and keyworkers and staff mingle and are close to each other. My twin girls enjoy their time when they are here. They have been here since they were 9 months old and must say that they were taken care of properly. Teachers and main keyworkers are very
caring and loving in which my girls would say 'I like (name of keyworker)'. I like this mobile access for childs care plan as I can easily access my twin daughters needs and development/improvements. Management/managers are very accommodating and emphatic with my situation. I must say they have been a big part of my twin daughters lives from 9 months old to 4 year old. Very grateful for everything. Keyworkers have been here for long time, my kids are familiar of them.

My child has been at the nursery since he was ten months old up until he goes to reception. He has good bonds with all of the staff and will happily go to them when he needs them. He has learnt a lot while being there and I will be sad when he leaves.

I have found the entire team at The Co-operative Childcare Newbiggin absolutely brilliant in every element. I cannot recommend the team highly enough. Both my children have developed so fast during the short time they have been at Newbiggin which is entirely down to the exceptional care and effort provided

I have been using this nursery for now 4 years. With my daughter and now son. The team are fantastic, I have built strong relationships with the staff and the level of service they provide is second to none. The staff adore the children and watching my two over the years build relationships with their
key workers and all the other staff has been fantastic. The manager and all the staff have really made it an outstanding nursery.

How good this nursery is shown when my son now runs in to see his friends and key worker.


My son’s milestones are logged on the parent zone and also what he has been up too, eating and doing each day. This is invaluable.


My son has a dietary requirement and he is accommodated. This is refreshing

to see.

I could not ask for a better place for my son to go, as he truly gets involved in all different activities and outdoor play too.


When it comes to potty training and moving my son into underpants it’s a shame this nursery does not provide pull-ups in the weekly costs? Currently, we are providing them.

This nursery is outstanding. The facilities are top notch. It's a purpose built setting that caters for the ages of 3 months up to 5 years superbly. My son has attended since he was 12 months old. It took time for him to settle into a nursery routine and the staff members were very patient, kind and
compassionate towards him. He's attended the nursery for 12 months and is thriving. His development is coming on leaps and bounds and his inquisitive nature is being satisfied by the range of activities that are offered throughout the day. Mealtimes are well catered for and the range of foods that my son is offered is fantastic. He's eating foods that I would not necessarily cook at home and it is widening his food pallet significantly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursery and I would encourage those contemplating it as an option for their child, to book an appointment to visit the facilities and the staff.
