Refurbished in 2020 and located conveniently right in the heart of Newcastle, Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School Newcastle is spacious and bright, with large rooms for each age group and a sensory room for storytime.

They are big on happy children and that's why they take care of each other and the world, have regular visits to their local care homes, and have a growing area for food. They have 5 little pioneers who help share their core values with the children, from making their own choices to encouraging them to be independent.

The nursery is silver eco schools accredited, a programme that sees children lead the way in making real environmental differences. Their staff are also all paediatric first aid trained as they are big on safety.

They also have an app, ParentZone, which keeps mums and dads informed about life at nursery, from photos, meals eaten and even toilet training progress!

There are four home rooms with the nursery split into the following age groups: three months to one-year-olds, one to two-year-olds, two to three-year-olds and three to five-year-olds.

My child loves coming to nursery here. The staff here are excellent and I feel they really take care of the children, offering a huge range of activities. Since starting here last September, my son's development has really come on, especially his language skills.

Fantastic nursery. Both our children have been going since 1-year-old and have thrived there. Excellent staff who support every aspect of their development and provide a wide range of activities which they love. They always come home excited to tell us about the fun they have had. I was very anxious about my son starting nursery during a pandemic but the staff at Little Pioneers have done a great job of communicating with and updating parents throughout each day. The staff in my son's room are very kind and show lots of enthusiasm and compassion towards my son when I drop him
off each day. In particular, his key worker has such a warm and positive energy that the hard job of being away from my little boy is made easier knowing that she will be looking after him. They do a range of different activities each day (which are often posted about on the parent sharing app) including going outside to play in the garden and going to watch the trains at the station.

My daughter loves her time at the nursery, all the staff are attentive and caring and they really take the time to connect with the children. My daughter loves the variety of activities and her time spent in the garden. She has been there since she was 10 months old and she has always been so well cared
for and happy.

My daughter started in April 2021, and she has settled in beautifully.
All the staff wear PPE and all children have their temperature taken at the door, which is very reassuring with the current situation.
The food is freshly prepared and balanced. My daughter is very picky and she seems to enjoy
her meals.
Even though I didn't get to view the nursery in person due to covid, I did a virtual tour and it was well done and informative.

The nursery is located in a building that is part of the Central Station, which gives it a very special appeal with its high ceilings and general decoration. The staff and administration are extremely friendly and communicate extensively with the parents during drop-off and pick-up, but also through
the app and occasionally via telephone. The communication reflects the high level of professionalism of the nursery and its staff. The staff takes care of children individually and take personal backgrounds and preferences into consideration. The parent sharing app is extensively used to document general issues like nappy changes or meal information, but also contains individual reports of the child, including learned words, sounds, activities, games and more. We are extremely happy with the nursery and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the nursery to anyone who needs a nursery in this area. Our son and daughter have both thrived there and we love how excited they are to go there every day - our 3-year-old actually asks to go there on a weekend sometimes!
The nursery staff go above and beyond to provide
children with a safe and nurturing environment that caters to their needs, it's definitely not a one size fits all approach.
Our favourite things about the nursery are:
- they cultivate the interests of each individual child and actively explore these interests through activities designed for that child (for example they made a plum pie on world book day because our son loves the book Each Peach Pear Plum)
- the use of the curiosity approach to learning
- fantastic flexible opening hours each day
- super high standard of food for the children with a great range of nutritious dishes for them, all cooked from scratch; and
- amazing staff who the kids love!

This is a great nursery, with wonderful staff. They keep me regularly updated on what my little boy has been up to, sharing his meals, his nappies, his naps and pictures of the activities. My other half and I both work longer hours, so being able to pick up later than most nurseries has been great for
us.
They have handled the pandemic incredibly well and have avoided punishing parents in what has been a difficult financial climate for some, and that has been much appreciated.

This is a fabulous place with caring staff, fantastic food, great communication and lovely spaces (including a garden). They are child interest centred and will go out of their way to create activities from scratch if a child expresses an interest in something specific. They have tonnes of age-appropriate
group activities and my super active daughter comes home every evening tired out!
Everything you can think of is included and they use an app for sharing daily pictures and information about your child.
They monitor wellbeing and development closely with monthly learning journals and create bespoke development journeys for every child. Parents are included in every decision, it really is co-education at its best.

The overall nursery is just amazing. From the natural theme running through the nursery to the everyday activities I always know my child is having an amazing time. It was very hard to for me to trust anyone to watch my child other than me but I could not have been more reassured with all of the staff.
They are all amazing at what they do and are always eager to let you know what my child’s been like whist there. They cater to your needs very well from eating allergies, to even the specifics you choose for nappy training. I call them quite a lot with all sorts of queries and they are always more than happy to take time to deal with what ever I call about. I love that they have an app which is updated throughout the day when my child is in so I can keep a track of what he’s eaten/doing. It makes me feel like I’ve not missed out on his day. I could have not chosen a better nursery in my opinion and will be devastated when it’s time to move on to school.

The lovely staff at this nursery have cared for my daughter since she was one year old right up to the age she was ready to start school. I would highly recommend this nursery - the staff have always encouraged my daughter to progress at each stage and she undoubtedly has grown and progressed in ways
she wouldn’t have without the nursery setting. The staff were especially great during the pandemic situation, ensuring that parents were always kept up to date and provided with options to suit their circumstances while remaining safe. The nursery itself has lovely play areas and facilities for the children, an excellent range of menu and I really like using the parent app to keep updated with what my daughter has been up to during the day. I would 100% recommend this nursery.

Very friendly and helpful staff and teachers. Good safety guidelines to follow during the lockdown.
They provide things that are needed for kids in school so for parents, less worry for preparing nappies or cream. My daughter is happy in school all the time.
The phone app that keeps your child's
growing improvement is updated when you are busy parents.

My child has been at this nursery since June 2017 and I have always been extremely impressed with the care they provide.
The staff are great and I feel like they are part of our extended family. Passionate about what they do, they all show a genuine interest in my child's development and he thoroughly
enjoys attending nursery.
Over the last year, they have worked so hard in keeping staff and children safe during the pandemic, going above and beyond on a daily basis.
My child will leave nursery this August and I will be very sad to say goodbye to the exceptional team that have cared for my son for 4 years.

We have found this to be a lovely nursery. The staff are supremely kind and thoughtful in how to make a nursery experience tailored to the needs and interests of our child. I have also been very impressed by the organisations response to covid. They seem to have taken great care to protect the mental
and physical welfare of the children and their workers. I feel very safe and confident in having my child at the nursery. I love the daily updates and photos on his progress and I appreciate their consideration and actions on how to support my child's development. Also, my kid adores being able to see the trains from the garden.

This review mainly relates to my second child who has attended The Co-operative Newcastle Nursery since he was 9-months-old. He is now 4. My eldest child also attended the nursery between the ages of 1 year and 4.5 years.
I have only good things to say about this nursery (with the one exception that
it sometimes takes a while before they answer the door - not ideal when you are in a rush!). The staff are all friendly, helpful, nurturing and both of my children felt entirely safe and confident whilst in their care.
The facilities are welcoming, bright and engaging including outside and indoor play areas. The staff make sure the children have a wide variety of fun, educational and engaging activities to do each day: I have never had either of my children report feeling bored after a day at nursery.
Parents receive regular, informative feedback on their child's progress which is always useful - especially considering the expert knowledge of the staff who prepare these reviews. 10/10!
