Children 1st Plumtree Nursery School is situated in the village of Plumtree, close to the A606 and the A52.

The nursery has been extensively refurbished indoors and outdoors to provide a truly unique learning environment with designated areas for babies, toddlers, early years and children aged up to 12-years-old.

The children benefit from eating healthy food to help fuel the development of their young minds and bodies.

The nursery's friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and very experienced. Child to staff ratios are lower than Ofsted requirements.

Children are encouraged to choose their own activity with a huge variety of options both indoors and outside in the garden.

The nursery offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.

Very good nursery, great staff and my son has a great time. Facilities and numbers have improved no end from 3 years ago when my daughter attended, the only thing is the parking now it is busier! Would recommend.

We are extremely happy with the care that our son receives at Children 1st. The staff are excellent and very supportive, as well as encouraging him to develop and learn in a safe and secure environment. We will be very sad in September when he leaves to go to school as he has been going since he was
7 months only and loves every day he is there. The staff are always on hand at the end of the day to let us know how he has been, and there are a variety of topics for him to engage in which he thoroughly enjoys. Keep up the great work team.

I love it and my daughter does too. Fabulous staff. Great outdoor play and messy fun. The team always try to accommodate extra/change in days which is really important to me and one reason why I chose the nursery.

We have entrusted Plumtree Children 1st with both of our daughters. The nursery has always been outstanding, in our opinion and as they have arguably the most important job in the world, this is a crucial thing! Since our youngest has been there, it has gone from strength to strength - somehow exceeding
our previous expectations. Every morning she runs down that corridor in glee! Sometimes she doesn't want to come home. Today according to her log book, she fed a real bunny rabbit and dressed up as a builder! Now what better day could there be than that?

Since my now 19 month old son has been attending Plumtree Children 1st, his social interaction, development and character have blossomed. His keyworker is easily his favourite person and it is lovely to see the relationship he has with another person outside of the family unit. We have been supported
as a family to have an excellent interaction with the nursery and the staff employed there. It is clear that our little boy is known by all the staff and loves to be greeted as an individual. His needs are clearly supported and encouragement is always evident. Having previously used childminder's, we were apprehensive about what we imagined to be a larger, less personal setting where the nurture of our little boy would not be as thorough as in a smaller setting with one caregiver. Every member of staff at Plumtree has proved our apprehension to be unfounded. We all love this nursery and extend our gratitude to everyone for their attention and input in the upbringing of our child.

A truly fantastic nursery - excellent facilities and awesome staff who love your child nearly as much as you do.

My little boy has been at Children 1st since he was 10 months old and I cannot be happier with how he has been cared for throughout his time. He is now 3 and a half and has moved through the age groups there. The facilities have always been excellent but the nursery has recently had major improvement
works to update all of the rooms and offer an even more varied and exciting learning environment. I feel that the nursery has found the right balance between love and care for the children alongside concern for their learning and development. All of the key workers my son has had and the wider staff have been competent, professional and enthusiastic. My little boy is so very happy there and I'm so grateful for having found this gem of a nursery.

My daughter loves nursery and it is a great stepping stone for school. Wide variety of games, activities and fun to be had. It has been recently refurbished and the facilities and resources are excellent. Friendly and approachable staff. Flexible childcare to suit my work pattern.

We moved our son here from another nursery, a particularly difficult decision but one we are glad we made and have never looked back from. The nursery has invested on the outside space making it a fun exciting space which the children love. The garden is well utilised, the children spend a lot of time
outside combining educational activities with fun and fresh air. Links to the local farm means the children have experienced, hatching chicks and ducks, chasing round lambs and piglets in the garden and more, taking care of the nursery rabbits. The inside is being transformed with a home from home feel, that once complete will only make the nursery more special. The staff are amazing, and we feel that they genuinely care about each child, taking the time every day to give you a real insight to their day's activities with their handovers. My son 'loves' going to nursery, in fact on a recent holiday he asked to return home to go back to nursery - the best indication of how good it really is!

After an excellent experience at this nursery with our first child, it was a given that we would send our youngest here. Starting at one year old, a few nervous weeks gave way quickly into genuine excitement to be spending her 2 days a week here. The staff are friendly, caring and knowledgeable. The
facilities (especially the outdoor space) are wonderful and their effort into thinking of new and interesting activities for each age range is amazing. We feel very happy that the nursery is nearby and had a place for my child! I would very highly recommend this nursery to anyone.

We absolutely love our nursery. Our daughter is cared for extremely well and each member of staff knows her and cares about her. Not only is the care excellent but we are so proud of the progress she is making. She is beginning to form letters with a pencil and knows most of her letter sounds and she
is only 2. The facilities at the nursery are outstanding and our daughter loves being there so much, that sometimes she doesn't want to come home. All staff are approachable, listen, understand and react very quickly to any issue. We really can't recommend this nursery highly enough!

Our little boy is almost 4 and has been attending Children 1st since he was 13 months old. It is a fantastic setting - the staff are warm, friendly and approachable and despite how busy they are, always make time to welcome us at the beginning and end of the day. They have a wonderful way with the children
and you can see that they genuinely care, as well as being incredibly professional. I have total confidence that my son is well cared for.
The nursery is very ably managed and we have always appreciated their flexible, child-centred approach. The outdoor area is a particular strength of the environment; lots of space and stimulating equipment. The EY blog is great - we get a lovely insight into what our child has been doing, and photos to treasure! I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery.

When we were considering a nursery to send our 8 month old to, we first looked at the more expensive nursery options in the wider area. However, when we visited the Plumtree nursery you had a real sense of how loved and cared for the children were and this was of ultimate importance. There is always
a lovely warm welcome and they really went out of their way to help our child to settle in. Our child is extremely happy there. The staff are very dedicated and loving and help the children through each stage of their development. The food is healthy and the outside space provides a lot of stimulation. It is a very safe environment.

Children First is a wonderful environment. They really go the extra mile. My daughter suffers from asthma, they don't hesitate to give her inhalers when she needs them and always call me if they're concerned. I know she's safe and thriving in their care. The online logging system is fantastic I love
seeing the regular photos and updates of what she's been doing at nursery. They are continually improving and updating facilities, and they always provide a wide range of activities and experiences.

Hello, my name is Emma Neale and I am Nursery Manager at Children 1st @ Plumtree.


I began working for Children 1st in April 2011 and since joining I have had the opportunity to grow and develop myself starting my career as a Nursery Nurse, then becoming a Senior Nursery Nurse and a ‘training and development worker’ progressing to Assistant Nursery Manager, and now Nursery Manager.


My favourite part of the job is seeing how the children learn and grow. I love being part of their nursery lives making sure they get the best start.
