This is the best nursery that we have ever had our children in by such a long way. We have moved around over the last few years and as such have used three different nurseries before, all of which were good and we were happy with, but Children 1st @ Plumtree Day Nursery is just in another league. Communication
with parents is excellent, the facilities and environment for the children to play and learn in are fantastic and every single member of staff seems to genuinely care about each child. Management are responsive, understanding and knowledgeable.

My little boy started here over a month ago when he was 10 months old. He has adapted so well and absolutely loves his teachers and is smiling whenever I drop him off and pick him up. Communication between nursery and parents is great.

We couldn’t be happier that our daughters (3.5 years old and 1 year old) go to Children 1st @ Plumtree. Our oldest daughter has been going since she was 1 and our second daughter has just started. Our daughters are exposed to an excellent, safe, learning environment and also have a lot of fun whilst
there. Their carers are exceptional: they are friendly and we can see that they genuinely care for our daughters.
The Nursery’s handling of Covid-19 and the way it communicated with parents is also remarkable.
We would definitely recommend Children 1st @ Plumtree (and have done so to many of our friends with children).

We have two children of different ages in this nursery and I can say that it is an excellently run place that looks after the children brilliantly whilst giving them plenty of entertainment and stimulation. They both come back thrilled at the end of the day. Staff are helpful, empathetic and friendly
and everything runs smoothly and safely. Would strongly recommend.

I have had two children in attendance to Children 1st @ Plumtree over the last four years and I would not consider sending them anywhere else. The facilities for each room are unbeatable locally, and the dedication of the staff is second to none. The processes they have in place, the communication,
the food and the care are exemplary and I truly believe have contributed massively to giving my children the best start in life, and prepared my eldest for school.

Extremely friendly and professional team. The facilities are excellent, including their own kitchen for home-cooked meals. Special mention to some members of staff, the job they've done looking after our son who loves it there.

Children 1st @ Plumtree is absolutely fantastic. My eldest has moved up through three different rooms now and every single lady in all of the rooms have been/are so attentive, welcoming, treat them like their own and are completely honest. My youngest has now started in the baby room and the ladies
are so incredibly amazing. They have made such a difficult transition that has been made even harder because of lockdown, much easier. Both my boys love nursery and we are so happy with them being there. The facilities are outstanding and the care and trust are just second to none. Can’t recommend Children 1st @ Plumtree enough. All the staff are always so friendly and caring, you can go to them about anything.

Children's 1st @ Plumtree is a wonderful environment for children, with warm, welcoming and knowledgable staff. The nursery manager has always excelled at creating a great team of staff, and every child is made to feel special. The nursery staff visibly enjoy their time with the children, and I really
love how kind and affectionate they are to the babies. It is a larger nursery, but I think that is an asset, and my children have always had plenty of friends to play with.
The rooms have all been specifically refurbished, each with designed play areas, space to climb and zones for messy play. The early years/preschool room is amazing with a 'jungle' and 'treehouse'. All food is cooked on-site, and there is a healthy four-week rolling schedule. I have and will continue to recommend this nursery to friends.

My daughter joined Children 1st @ Plumtree when she was 9-months-old and has loved every day since! The staff are so friendly and caring and always willing to help out. Really helpful on the phone, providing updates and making sure I don't miss out on the little moments. Would highly recommend it, their
approach to the pandemic situation has been above and beyond, really supportive.

My daughter has been at Children 1st @ Plumtree since she was 10 months old; she has just turned 2 and loves going more than ever! Like all parents, I was nervous about returning to work and leaving my baby with strangers but from her first settling in visit, I knew we'd made the right choice of nursery.
It really feels like home. All the staff are fantastic, I can tell that she is cared for and loved just as much as she would be at home. There is a whole range of activities for all the babies and children to do, and they get to spend a lot of time outside. My daughter comes home tired and messy but never bored! I know she is safe and happy and that's all that matters.

I moved my twin boys to the nursery a year ago, after an unhappy time in a different setting.
My boys are so thriving. They are so excited to go in every day. We get such a lovely welcome and everyone takes time to talk and ask after our family or what we have been up to. Most days it's hard to get
them home.
The daily diary is so essential to me and it's always filled with everything I need to know for how their day has been. And I get rather jealous that I can't do it all too.
Importantly, my twins are treated as individuals and with their own needs. One has hearing issues and the nursery really try to help with ways to help him and welcome outside help that I have for him.
Also, we have had to mention a couple of things but there is no blame culture. It was all handled with a "let's sort it out attitude" rather than "it wasn't me". That's so professional.
We know our boys are loved and cared for. We go to work happy knowing our boys are having the best time.
Thank you, everyone.

My 14-month-old daughter has been at Children 1st @ Plumtree for almost 6 months now and she absolutely loves it. Her carers are so kind and thoughtful, and she has so much fun with them. They seem to have a great variety of activities each day and take them outside as much as possible. The staff have
been very considerate with her nap and bottle schedules, ensuring she gets all that she needs through the day. Meals are balanced and varied.
We couldn't be happier with how she has started off at nursery and will be very happy for her to continue up until she starts school.

Outstanding is a word that is often overused but in the context of Children First Plumtree, this word is insufficient. As a dad, I want to stay and play. An open, honest and transparent management style clearly filters down to the team who offer wonderful educational and pastoral care and warmth to
the children. Children's dietary needs and fussy eaters are catered for without problems. The team's kindness and warmth always shines through. But shh...don't tell everyone else - it will become oversubscribed!

After a tentative start, the staff have helped my daughter settle into nursery life. She really enjoys going, has made some lovely new friends and is coming on in leaps and bounds.
Whilst my daughter is a rather picky eater, the team have been great at encouraging her to try new things and persevering.

I looked around numerous other nurseries within the local area and beyond, but decided to send my daughter to Children 1st at Plumtree. Initially, I was really impressed with the outdoor play area and facilities. My daughter has been attending since she was 6 months old and is now nearly three years
old. She loves going each day and the staff have a great relationship with her. I recommend this nursery to other parents.

My daughter has been at this nursery since she was 4 months old. She is now coming up to her 6th birthday and still regularly attends breakfast club and after-school sessions at Children's 1st.

I can honestly say that during the 5 years that she has spent at this nursery, I do not have one criticism

or negative comment to make.

The environment both indoors and outdoors is incredible and fantastically resourced. The staff go above and beyond and I cannot thank them enough for contributing so positively to my child's learning, development and happiness!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.883)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.883) out of 10 for Children 1st Plumtree Nursery School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.883 for Children 1st Plumtree Nursery School is calculated as follows: ( (407 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 454 Ratings = 4.883
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Children 1st Plumtree Nursery School is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 143 number of registered child places is 28.6, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Emma Neale and I am Nursery Manager at Children 1st @ Plumtree.

I began working for Children 1st in April 2011 and since joining I have had the opportunity to grow and develop myself starting my career as a Nursery Nurse, then becoming a Senior Nursery Nurse and a ‘training and development worker’ progressing to Assistant Nursery Manager, and now Nursery Manager.

My favourite part of the job is seeing how the children learn and grow. I love being part of their nursery lives making sure they get the best start.
