Children 1st Plumtree Nursery School is situated in the village of Plumtree, close to the A606 and the A52.

The nursery has been extensively refurbished indoors and outdoors to provide a truly unique learning environment with designated areas for babies, toddlers, early years and children aged up to 12-years-old.

The children benefit from eating healthy food to help fuel the development of their young minds and bodies.

The nursery's friendly, enthusiastic staff are fully trained and very experienced. Child to staff ratios are lower than Ofsted requirements.

Children are encouraged to choose their own activity with a huge variety of options both indoors and outside in the garden.

The nursery offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.

We were recommended Children 1st Plumtree by a friend, and we're so happy we went with this nursery. Our little boy has been going for 6 months and he loves it! All the staff are brilliant and you can tell they care about the kids and their wellbeing. The daily updates and photos are lovely to see.
And when we pick him up you can tell he's definitely had a great day. Thanks for being so amazing!

I honestly can't recommend this nursery any higher, my little boy loves going. He loves all of his key workers and friends and I honestly feel like he loves being at nursery more than being at home! The fact they have the most amazing outdoor area for the children was a must for us as our little boy
loves to be outside. The meals he has are like something you'd find in a restaurant, it's definitely help him try lots of new tastes and flavours at home which he didn't before he started going. He's so much more sociable with other children, so kind and caring which again before he didn't really know how to act around then and sometimes lashed out. I love this nursery and I feel lucky to be able to send my little boy there it really is special! The App is amazing too, you get every single update throughout the day, sleep, food, nappies - it's brilliant! Everyone who works at this particular nursery is amazing, kind and so attentive. Our two little people enjoy their days at nursery. Staff in Early Years in particular are incredibly kind and have adapted their practice to meet the needs of our eldest, providing individualised care and encouraging a curious mind. The nursery has had a difficult year with being taken over and this
has led to staff changes. However, the benefits of the takeover are clear with lots of new resources, improved staff enthusiasm and a comprehensive curriculum including aspects of forest school and activities such as cooking and yoga. The addition of a qualified teacher has been beneficial and she is a true asset to the nursery.

My daughter has recently started and I couldn't be happier. The team are amazing and have made her first week at nursery incredible which has made it so much easier for me to drop her off in the morning knowing she's happy and cared for.
The team have gone above and beyond and I knew straight away
Children 1st Plumtree was the place for her and that was proven when my little girl has shown her cheeky, loving side at nursery that she does at home too within her first week of being there.

We've been so lucky to have both of our children at Children 1st Plumtree - our eldest son, who's now thriving at school, and our youngest son, who's still there and absolutely loves it. From the very beginning, the whole team has been incredible. They're caring, professional, and genuinely kind. Everything
they do is done with so much thought and attention, yet always with patience, warmth, and a smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble.


Both of our boys have had food allergies and the staff have been understanding and diligent in helping to guide them through it.


We've seen amazing progress in both of our kids, and that's entirely down to the dedication and love the staff put into what they do. We honestly couldn't recommend Children 1st Plumtree enough - the team is outstanding, the environment is so nurturing, and we're incredibly grateful for everything they've done for our children. We have had the privilege of sending both our children to Children 1st Plumtree. Our daughter, who is now thriving at school, and our son, who is currently still there. From the start, we have been so impressed with the care, professionalism, and warmth of the whole team. They are meticulous in everything
they do, yet always deliver it with kindness, patience, and a smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble.


For our family, this nursery has gone above and beyond, especially as our son has an ultra-rare liver disease. The staff have ensured his safety and wellbeing at every step, while giving him the chance to learn, grow, and fully take part in nursery life with the other children. The development we've seen in both our children is a testament to the dedication of this wonderful nursery.


We cannot speak highly enough of Children 1st Plumtree. The staff are exceptional, the environment is nurturing, and we are truly grateful for the impact they've had on our children's lives.

I can tell from my kids how much love he got from the lovely staff! He loved the food there and he finished all his meal almost every day! He enjoyed and had lots of fun with his friends! Every time when we passing the nursery, he will point to me and shows how much he wants to go inside to play!!!

My child has attended children 1st for just over a year, I'd like to say this nursery was a fantastic choice and we have had no issues. My child loves attending nursery weekly and his vocal performance, learning & overall development has exceeded incredibly. Since the new management of Danielle the
changes of the nursery has gone beyond expectations. I have seen the huge improvement in changes and couldn't be more happier. There is a huge difference within the team and the nursery overall, I couldn't recommend this nursery enough, she has supported me and my child above and beyond. The changes made recently by Danielle shows a clear sense of direction for every child's needs. The rooms and outdoor space are amazing, the staff couldn't be more helpful, I'm informed 24/7 of my child's daily activities. One thing that stuck out for me was the cleanliness of the nursery always a cleaner on sight, I'm happy parent & glad I made the choice of sending my child here

My daughter has recently started at Plumtree and honestly we couldn't be happier so far. The staff in the baby unit have welcomed her so warmly into nursery and I feel like I'm dropping her off with a loving team who put her best interests first. When she's been poorly at nursery they have been really
helpful and supportive, putting my mind at ease when I know she's feeling under the weather. The daily photos are fantastic and I can honestly see my little girl developing leaps and bounds in just a short time since starting. So happy we picked Plumtree!

We are so happy we chose Children's 1st for our little boy. He's been attending since he was 10 months old. The staff go above and beyond. It's clear to see the genuine care, relationships, and bonds they build with the children.
Leaving your baby in someone else's care can be an incredibly anxiety-filled
experience, but Children's 1st made that transition so much easier. We've always felt completely reassured by the level of care, attention, and communication. This, along with the brilliant facilities means our little boy is thriving and loves going to nursery!

We have been so impressed by the care and attention shown to our little girl at Children's 1st Plumtree. Their care for her allergies has been exceptional and has really put our minds at ease when leaving her with them. She absolutely adores going to nursery each morning, and has come on leaps and bounds
since starting in September. The range of activities they do is really lovely even for the littlest ones. I couldn't recommend it enough and I'm so pleased we chose Plumtree.

Both my children settled in to Children 1st Plumtree so quickly, thanks to the warm environment provided by all staff and the huge variety of activities both indoors and outdoors that they love. Children 1st @ Plumtree has been absolutely amazing for my little girl. Since she started shortly after turning one, she's learned so many new things, including new words like "tractor" and even how to tidy up after herself while playing with toys. The difference we've seen in her well-being and development
since starting nursery has been incredible. The staff are so trustworthy, and I know my little girl is in great hands. One staff member in particular has been especially wonderful - she helped my little girl settle into nursery along with other wonderful members of the team when she joined the first room, when my little one wasn't happy to be away at first, making the transition so much smoother. The reception team is fantastic as well, who always goes above and beyond for parents! Seeing my little one run in happily each day and knowing she's made great friends there reassures me she loves it. I wholeheartedly recommend Children 1st @ Plumtree!

Firstly, I want to start by saying how amazing the safe space is that the children have to play and explore. It’s a very spacious nursery with lots of areas for the children to enjoy their nursery time. I have done pick-up for my niece and nephew a number of times now and each and every time the staff
have made me feel welcome, all of which are all friendly and happy. My niece and nephew love attending the nursery and have made some great connections with staff members and other children along the way. Both of the children often mention their allocated staff members at home, so that shows they are having a positive impact. The nursery is extremely secure with the main door requiring assistance to be let in and the interior doors requiring a button to be pressed, a password is also used when collecting a child if you aren’t a parent or carer. The meals the children eat are all nutritional and healthy, but the children particularly enjoy the sweet biscuit treat at home time.

Both my children have come to Children 1st and have been very happy. The building and surroundings are great. My one concern is staff turnover. My child gets used to one member of staff and then they leave. It would be good if there could be some flexibility for the nursery to provide extra hours in
an emergency (ie funeral) that we need to attend, no other childcare options.

Children 1st - Plumtree are fantastic! My daughter’s been going since she was 14 months old and will be there till she starts school in September. It is a really spacious nursery, with so many facilities for the children. It’s bright and airy with all glass changing areas. They even have air con which
is fab in summer. There are so many different fun tree houses, jungles and ball pits with indoor slides that my daughters enjoy. My daughter has ASD and if it wasn’t for nursery spotting this at 15 months old we would never have got such an early diagnosis. So I am eternally grateful they approached me about it and did it in such a kind and supportive way. The staff are amazing, and the manager is brilliant in helping me work with School and Families and the local authority. The teacher in early years is amazing with the children and my daughter. The efforts he goes to each week in terms of topics, what the children will learn and activities way exceed my expectations, it’s unreal!

Due to house moves, this is the third nursery we have experienced and it is absolutely amazing.
All the staff are lovely and great with the children.
We never have any problems at drop-off - all ours have been excited to start the day.
The facilities are stellar, both outdoor and indoor I'm kind
of jealous of my own kids.
The extra stuff they do too, e.g. graduation, natu=ivity in early years is also a lovely extra.
Also, really love seeing pictures of what they've been up to on social media and the online portal.

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2011

Hello, my name is Emma Neale and I am Nursery Manager at Children 1st @ Plumtree.


I began working for Children 1st in April 2011 and since joining I have had the opportunity to grow and develop myself starting my career as a Nursery Nurse, then becoming a Senior Nursery Nurse and a ‘training and development worker’ progressing to Assistant Nursery Manager, and now Nursery Manager.


My favourite part of the job is seeing how the children learn and grow. I love being part of their nursery lives making sure they get the best start.
