Nene Valley Day Nursery is a caring and nurturing nursery conveniently situated in the centre of Northampton and located inside the general hospital grounds.

It provides care for children from 3 months old – 5 years, with all children's rooms on the ground floor with direct access to their own garden.

This friendly nursery has a well established and highly qualified team of enthusiastic early years professionals providing extensive activities to spark each child’s curiosity to learn.

They are proud to have achieved the Green Flag award for their commitment to environmental projects. They also have an eco-committee and children's council to allow opportunities for children to freely express their voice.

*7am start is available at an additional cost to non NHS families. Standard opening time is 7.30am.

My daughter started at the Nene Valley one and a half years ago. She started from lady bird and now in bumblebees, we have found that the staff are very caring, loving and friendly with all the children. All the staff makes sure children are comfortable and safe all the time. We are very grateful for
the wonderful service and support you all have provided us during this crisis and even before this crisis. I would really like to thank you all from the cleaning staff, kitchen staff, management and all at the nene valley for your great support and efforts to keep children safe. I will really extremely recommend this nursery.

I was very nervous about sending my son to nursery. But the Nene Valley team were very supportive answering all my questions and helping put my fears to rest. The team from the Caterpillars class is absolutely amazing. Kind, patient, thoughtful and just the best a parent could have. My little one adapted
quickly and even on crying days, the team always made me feel comfortable because I know they care. Big thank you.

The nursery is of a great location. They open early to allow me time to get to work on time. My little boy was helped to settle in well and he now loves going. You can see how much he learns and he enjoys his time there. He is learning from the other children as well. The food is great with a wide variety.
They have his milk bottles all ready so I just need to take him without the worry of that. Great nursery, very happy with the nursery.

Both of my children now attend the nursery, and I have nothing but praise for the whole team. The children are the heart of all they do and have been key in my children's development. All the staff very approachable and will answer any questions at any time. Their communication is always great and has
been especially throughout the Covid-19 situation. As a key worker, my children continued attending the nursery throughout and I felt that my children were as safe as they could be. The nursery provides lots of learning opportunities and is always happy to support further learning where needed. The nursery itself is very clean and has great outdoor facilities available to all ages. My daughter is starting school in September and is well prepared for 'big school'. She will miss the team very much!

The nursery is delightful. The staff are so experienced and the team as a whole are welcoming to visitors.
We loved the nursery from the word go! it is bright and cheerful and we didn't hesitate to register.
The nursery is clean which is reassuring during Covid-19.

My daughter has been at nursery since she was 1. We were made to feel very comfortable and supported when starting her here. They met our needs for her and reassured us and gave lots of updates. She bonded well with workers and they were super with her. She can be a funny girl and grows attachments
to certain people. The rooms have worked well together to keep those connections and help her move forward. She really liked the workers in Bumblebees and flourished in this room. She has especially grown a bond with one staff member, which at first had made things really hard for her when moving to pre-school. The room still let her see her which has been great for my daughter to now settle. She has taken longer in this room to settle than any of the others and seemed to regress with regards to toilet training. I am not sure if this is down to the number of children in the room but she was also struggling with drop-offs, however, she has now grown a nice bond with another staff member and seems much happier.

My daughter who is currently 20-months-old, and loves coming to nursery. She has built up fantastic relationships with all members of staff, and I feel very happy and confident leaving her in their care. The communal areas of the nursery are always clean. The menu is varied and nutritious. There are
a variety of activities undertaken to engage and educate the children, and I receive regular updates via the app on what my daughter has been doing throughout the day and what developmental competencies she is completing.
I would definitely recommend Nene Valley to others, and I am so grateful for their ongoing care and love during these difficult times. Without them, I would not be able to work as a key worker in the NHS; so thank you very much!

Our little boy has thrived in the time he has been at Nene Valley. There are many interesting and varied activities but more importantly, staff understand how to manage both positive and negative behaviour too. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they worked hard at settling my little one into the nursery as she was quite unsettled and upset at being at a nursery to start with. On a personal level, they have been very understanding with me also, offering the ability to still breastfeed and sorting out
other issues for me. My little one has really taken to her key worker and it made her life better there. Looking forward to going back.

My son has been at this nursery 4/5 months now. With it being his first time away from me, he settled in so well and his confidence has gotten so much better with people he doesn’t know and in himself. I love everyone there and they’re all so friendly to my son. My other children and me. It’s very welcoming.

My child really enjoys coming here and always seems extremely happy when he returns home.
Personally I like the variety of food he gets but also the main thing is the interaction with other children.
He seems to have developed a lot quicker since being in nursery, and simple things like climbing
and crawling quicker etc he has become really good at.
Staff members are always friendly and if we have ever had a concern or something to discuss it has been listened to and accepted.
Everyone has also been really accommodating throughout the coronavirus pandemic and flexible with my child's days in, and for 2 key worker parents personally we couldn't ask for more than this.

A lovely little nursery! My son has been here for about 6-months now and has settled in so quickly.
Staff are always very friendly, helpful and give good hand-overs on pickup, as well as extensive updates via the app. They have kept up so well with my son’s potty training, and he is very confident
going nappy-free now. My son has made friends already, with other children as well as staff, that he talks about a lot at home. The activities and themes they choose each week are lovely, and it’s really nice to feel involved. Thank you, everyone.

I am so impressed by sending my son to this nursery, throughout his 2 years here he has been so happy attending. I do not have to worry about hi happiness or safety when I go to work. He always comes home happy. His learning, speech and interaction have really come on from being around his friends and
practitioners. I am updated via the app with pictures and key information. I would highly r3commend this nursery. My son will be sad when it's time for school.

Jade Shillington

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2019

Jade is the Manager of Nene Valley Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having started in the early years sector at the age of 17 as an Apprentice. Jade completed her Level 3 in Childcare before having her own child, then went on to complete Level 3 and Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Jade started working for Childbase in 2019.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how the nursery feels so warm and inviting; we have a great combination of fixed purpose, authentic and more natural resources In every room to really spark the children's curiosity and engage them in their learning and exploration.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I absolutely love my team; they are dedicated, passionate and supportive of all our families and one another. Striving for outstanding care is at the forefront of everything we do.
