Nene Valley Day Nursery is a caring and nurturing nursery conveniently situated in the centre of Northampton and located inside the general hospital grounds.

It provides care for children from 3 months old – 5 years, with all children's rooms on the ground floor with direct access to their own garden.

This friendly nursery has a well established and highly qualified team of enthusiastic early years professionals providing extensive activities to spark each child’s curiosity to learn.

They are proud to have achieved the Green Flag award for their commitment to environmental projects. They also have an eco-committee and children's council to allow opportunities for children to freely express their voice.

*7am start is available at an additional cost to non NHS families. Standard opening time is 7.30am.

Love the school. Lots of varied activities. The new wing is great. Teachers are great. Low student/teacher ratio. Cost is a little higher than closer nurseries.

My son has always been happy to go to nursery, having fun with his friends and enjoying a wide variety of activities. The staff at the nursery have been fantastic and I really feel they have made a huge contribution to his development. I would have no hesitation in recommending Nene Valley Day Nursery

We were so sad to leave Nene Valley Day Nursery! It has been the home for both my sons from 12 months-4 years. They have been so happy there. The staff are so friendly and skilled at looking after the children and always have a smile on their face. The food is all home-cooked and the all-inclusive service
makes life a little easier! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this nursery. It definitely deserves its outstanding Ofsted rating.

Fantastic nursery and would recommend to anybody. Both our children have been at the nursery and have been well prepared for life after nursery. All the staff are brilliant and really helpful with any questions. Clean, safe environment for our kids to grow and develop.

My son has spent the last 20 months in your care whilst I've worked, spanning 3 rooms. Staff have listened and respected my wishes for him and kept me informed of his progress. He is happy to attend nursery and has quickly adapted to the changes in rooms and seems to have built good relationships with
the staff. I have no concerns leaving him in your care as I trust that his welfare is at the forefront of staff's mind. It would be nice if all alternatives for foods can be offered for example Soya Yogurt given when all have Yogurt although this happens it is not consistent and a 2-year-old does not understand.

My Son started in Sept'18 and he is very happy to go to the pre-school. Enjoys all the activities. It's hygiene.
Thankfully never fallen sick with the flu. All his teachers are very awesome. He has favourites too.

My son started 2 months ago and since then have made a lot of progress in his autonomy (crawls, stands up, holds his drink,...).
The staff are always smiling and welcoming.
They’re doing a lot of sensory activities and it gives me the idea to copy some at home so playtime is more fun!
Food is freshly
made in the nursery’s kitchen and my son loves it.

So far our daughter has been a part of the nursery since February 2019. We have had no concerns regarding the care of our daughter. Everyone is very helpful and the girls in the ladybird room are amazing. They are also so willing to support and talk about things, provide information and take great interest
in each child. I did a lot of searching before committing to this nursery and visited several times which they did not mind. Due to my profession, I am on the outlook for particular things and so far I have been externally happy. We are both happy with the service, communication and support. Thank you.

So happy with all the staff and help I’ve been given whilst registering my son and transferring to this nursery. All the staff, especially in the bumblebee room, have been so helpful and I’m so happy with how my son has settled in with the help of everyone.

The girls are brilliant. They get so much play time and 1 on 1 attention that my baby is always happy to be here.
He is very fussy at eating but they always offer more variety so that he gets his nutrition.

My daughter has attended the nursery for 3 1/2 years and in that time the staff have been attentive, caring and aware of the needs of my daughter and myself.


During her transition to school, they have supported and guided, offered advice and sought our literature to support.

I am so glad I send my little girl here, it is such a brilliant nursery. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and do an amazing job. Since my little one has been here she has come on leaps and bounds with speech and understanding how other children play and loves it.

My son really enjoys going to nursery. He has learnt so many new things. He has a good relationship with his key worker, other staff and other children.
Sometimes, as a parent, it seems like there are too many children in one room for one individual child to have 1-1 attention. Sometimes there are
too many children not in ratio with the adults.

Jade Shillington

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2019

Jade is the Manager of Nene Valley Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having started in the early years sector at the age of 17 as an Apprentice. Jade completed her Level 3 in Childcare before having her own child, then went on to complete Level 3 and Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Jade started working for Childbase in 2019.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how the nursery feels so warm and inviting; we have a great combination of fixed purpose, authentic and more natural resources In every room to really spark the children's curiosity and engage them in their learning and exploration.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I absolutely love my team; they are dedicated, passionate and supportive of all our families and one another. Striving for outstanding care is at the forefront of everything we do.
