Nene Valley Day Nursery is a caring and nurturing nursery conveniently situated in the centre of Northampton and located inside the general hospital grounds.

It provides care for children from 3 months old – 5 years, with all children's rooms on the ground floor with direct access to their own garden.

This friendly nursery has a well established and highly qualified team of enthusiastic early years professionals providing extensive activities to spark each child’s curiosity to learn.

They are proud to have achieved the Green Flag award for their commitment to environmental projects. They also have an eco-committee and children's council to allow opportunities for children to freely express their voice.

*7am start is available at an additional cost to non NHS families. Standard opening time is 7.30am.

We've had such a positive experience with this nursery. The staff are incredibly caring and fun, and they always keep us well updated on the children's progress. The facilities are excellent, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space, and a huge variety of learning areas and toys so the kids are never
bored. Healthy, balanced meals are provided, and the whole environment feels warm and supportive. The team made settling in so smooth for both me and my daughter, and they've been wonderful at supporting her transitions into new rooms. I would highly recommend this nursery to any parent.

Had a wonderful experience sending my son to Nene Valley nursery. The staff there really took care of him and helped him gel well with other kids. It was great seeing my son grow from a shy boy to one who is comfortable expressing himself.

My son started this nursery about 3 months ago and since then he's been thriving, he always comes home happy. His key worker Sally is so lovely and helpful and I can see the bond they have which makes me feel at ease. Would definitely recommend this nursery.

My son has a lovely time at nursery, I get regular pictures and a really good handover of what he has been up to. They also update the app in real time so I can see what he has eaten and when he slept- which makes planning bedtime easier! They are very thorough whenever we have needed accident forms
and always phone if there has been a bump to the head.

Facilities is adequate for young children everything is well placed and protected so no one is hurt specially children.
Staff is well trained, polite and always on hand if something goes wrong.

My child is always super happy going into nursery and it's thanks to the staff in the ladybird room, they are always happy to see him and always make us feel so welcome. My child is always keen to get into nursery and explore. He loves every practicioner in the ladybird room and they all take the time
to teach him new skills which I really appreciate. He has the most amazing bond with his key person who we appreciate more than anything as she has made his nursery experience so positive so far. When I pick him up he is always busy playing and exploring and interacting with the practicioners and other children. They follow his routines and support his development in every way possible. I am so happy he attends Nene Valley because I know he is always safe and well looked after. Thankyou so much.

The ladybird keyworkers all engage with him and his additional therapy needs and care planning. They provide excellent care and I feel that he is safe in their hands. The ladybird team have supported his development and progress. The staff have taken the time to get to know him recognising his strengths
and adapting activities to ensure participation.

My daughter loves the staff and environment here and I can't wait to send my second little girl here. Staff are so friendly that my partner can't leave without being social which is nice to see. All of the staff invest their time with my boy. He's bouncing and always smiling and laughing when I pick him up. He shows more curiosity which is what we love, a recent health professional at a hearing test said his use of language is amazing. This is because he's in a stimulating environment which
encourages his communication skills to improve every day he's at nursery. The staff are adaptable and caring and even ask how my family are which keeps us connected. They laugh with me on pick up and drop off and always have something different and funny to tell me. I'm confident that this nursery will help my boy move into the bigger world for school. Where he will join his older siblings. The food is amazing and is nutritional, it's cooked fresh on-site and they also celebrate different culture events throughout the year. There has been new staff recently who have joined who are polite and honest, this is what we like. Parking safer and easier for dropping and picking up.

Nene Valley has been incredible. They have had older two children and now have my youngest daughter. All of them have progressed so well. They really adapt their activities to suit children's interests and have amazing communication. They provide regular updates on the app so you can see everything
they have been up to and all the staff are so kind and helpful. I really cannot recommend them any more highly.

Cannot fault the Ladybird team. Always made us feel welcome. They really knew my daughter and had great bonds with her. She always came home with stories to tell and happy memories! The people in there are great at keeping you updated and it's lovely to see online via the app too!

Jade Shillington

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2019

Jade is the Manager of Nene Valley Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having started in the early years sector at the age of 17 as an Apprentice. Jade completed her Level 3 in Childcare before having her own child, then went on to complete Level 3 and Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Jade started working for Childbase in 2019.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how the nursery feels so warm and inviting; we have a great combination of fixed purpose, authentic and more natural resources In every room to really spark the children's curiosity and engage them in their learning and exploration.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I absolutely love my team; they are dedicated, passionate and supportive of all our families and one another. Striving for outstanding care is at the forefront of everything we do.
