Nene Valley Day Nursery is a caring and nurturing nursery conveniently situated in the centre of Northampton and located inside the general hospital grounds.

It provides care for children from 3 months old – 5 years, with all children's rooms on the ground floor with direct access to their own garden.

This friendly nursery has a well established and highly qualified team of enthusiastic early years professionals providing extensive activities to spark each child’s curiosity to learn.

They are proud to have achieved the Green Flag award for their commitment to environmental projects. They also have an eco-committee and children's council to allow opportunities for children to freely express their voice.

*7am start is available at an additional cost to non NHS families. Standard opening time is 7.30am.

Thank you for looking after my daughter. She always says she wants to go back to her old nursery as she misses her nursery staff and friends. I am very thankful to all the staff for taking care of her. There has been a significant improvement in her development and speaking skills.

I am very well satisfied with my kid’s growth in this nursery. I could see a dramatic change in communication skills, listening skills, imaginative thinking and ability to make new friends. They take care of each and every child and analyse their capabilities and encourage to socialise and bring out
the kid’s likes and dislikes. They communicate with every parent to share their views and day to day activities of the kid.I would strongly recommend this nursery for any child.

It is a really feel at home environment and the staff/teachers are very friendly and dedicated. It is clear they love the children and it is not only a job done well. My son had a very painful experience in his previous nursery and everybody helped him to settle quite quickly and even his delay in speaking
English has been embraced so well by the staff, that in a few months has greatly improved. My child has both parents speaking Italian at home and to find a place he could be loved and understood was utterly important!. Thank you Nene Valley Day Nursery.

Absolutely fantastic nursery. My daughter only attends two mornings per week and during the initial month, she really struggled to settle in. The nursery staff were fantastic in the way they managed her separation anxiety and how they communicated with me.
My daughter loves going now and talks about
nursery often when we are at home. I am so happy with her progress, she has grown in confidence since being at Nene Valley. We are keen to increase her hours there and know that when we are at work she is safe, happy and always learning!

My daughter loves coming to the nursery. She is two and has started telling me about her day and is always excited to tell me what she's been up to.
The staff have all been incredible. It's lovely that they all speak to her and also remember my son and speak to him when he visits as well.

My daughter started Nene Valley Nursery last year and I am very happy that we made the right choice. I can see my daughter enjoys the time she spends there. She is always happy to go there. I also noticed that she has improved her language a lot and learnt a lot of different things. Very nice staff
and even my daughter tells me about that. So we are very happy with Nene Valley Day Nursery.

I think this nursery is excellent in every way, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. They are brilliant with my son who attends three times a week and enjoys going. There are always various activities in his designated room which help with his learning which are really enjoyable for him. I always
receive a good handover.


Great communication links, especially now parent zone is running. My child's key worker is brilliant and really interacts with him well and really helps with his development, caring, enthusiastic and always happy. Overall, a fab nursery and would recommend it to anyone.

A purpose-built building of Nene Valley Day Nursery with plenty of outdoor space and spacious rooms for different age groups. Experienced and caring staff, actively involved in the physical and mental development of children are only some of the important salient features of this place.


My children

are always happy and comfortable here and therefore, I have peace of mind that they will be very well looked after and cared for whilst I am at work. I am always kept up to date with their progress by daily feedback from the girls and also by the wonderful parent app of Parent 2.

Very professional and caring, providing stimulating activities for children of all ages. Very good communication with parents, including the 'daily care chart' and the app 'parent zone', which is quite innovative. Extending opening hours, which is helpful for working parents. Highly recommend it. My

As I was having difficulty getting my daughter to eat certain foods at home I asked the nursery to keep track of what meals she is happy to eat at nursery. They gave me recipes for 7 meals. Thank you.

My son has been here since he was eight months old. All the staff have been lovely. I cannot fault the nursery. The support given to all the family, especially during transition phases, has been excellent. I will be sad when it's time to leave.

My daughter has always been very well looked after and loved in all areas she has been in. I know she is in good hands with staff that care. She has developed well and had good learning opportunities with the chance to learn new skills along the way, for example writing her name and creative play.

We could not be more pleased with how our daughter has got on at this nursery. She loves going so much that she asks to go at the weekends. The staff are all so lovely, so helpful and really make the children feel like they're at a home from home. As a parent, you want to know that your child is
always safe and I got that feeling as soon as I stepped in Nene Valley. I'm just sad that my daughter doesn't get to spend more time here. She has learnt and developed so much and I can't think Nene Valley enough!

We felt very apprehensive about leaving our first child with what, in short, are total strangers. Not only do the staff make our daughter feel safe and welcome, but us as well. They have always friendly, knowledgeable and polite but have really helped our daughter cone out of her shell. Basically, I
wouldn't hesitate to recommend the nursery to anybody and hope that the same experience continues when she moves up a room.

My son started Nene Valley in October and found it very hard to come, but all the staff within the room were very comforting and helped him to become happier at nursery.
He now comes into nursery very happy and playing and talking to all staff and children.

The menu is excellent, my son is a fussy eater so the variety of food offered helps to encourage him to try new things. Also, the recipes are available for me to cook the same meals at home (when he's eaten it well at nursery).
The staff are excellent, they understand the developmental needs of the
children and adapt to their individual needs, recognising that some children need extra support with certain things. The rooms are spacious and well equipt with sensory and play activities which get changed and swapped around with different themes each week. My son is very happy and enjoys going to nursery and I trust the staff provide care for him to a very high standard.

Jade Shillington

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2019

Jade is the Manager of Nene Valley Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having started in the early years sector at the age of 17 as an Apprentice. Jade completed her Level 3 in Childcare before having her own child, then went on to complete Level 3 and Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Jade started working for Childbase in 2019.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
I love how the nursery feels so warm and inviting; we have a great combination of fixed purpose, authentic and more natural resources In every room to really spark the children's curiosity and engage them in their learning and exploration.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I absolutely love my team; they are dedicated, passionate and supportive of all our families and one another. Striving for outstanding care is at the forefront of everything we do.
