The team at Woodville Nursery & Preschool recognises that every child is different with their own story to tell. The tailored spaces across their two sites ensure that each child learns in a way and at a pace that's right for them. Every day at Woodville, children are encouraged to be inquisitive and imaginative in their stimulating learning environments. In doing so, children soon develop a real love of learning and a curious mind.

Woodville's learning environments are split across two settings. The Blacksmith's Lane site provides all year round care for children from six weeks to five years old. At their brand new preschool on Moira Road, they provide sessional care for children aged two and older. Across both sites, Woodville is proud to have a highly experienced team with a wealth of early years learning insight, including educators qualified in Forest School.

  • We want to make life simple, so our fees include snacks and meals, cooked on site. For young babies, parents are requested to bring in their own formula milk.


    Children with preschool sessional care receive snacks and have the flexibility to bring in their own lunch or pay an additional £3 for a nutritious packed lunch prepared by our chef.

My daughter currently attends Woodville Day Nursery and has been there since 2018, when she started at 10 months old. I have complete and utter trust in the managers, who are absolutely wonderful, putting every child’s individual needs at the heart of everything they do. The staff are highly trained
and passionate about working with young children. My daughter loves going to nursery and enjoys such a wide range of activities that are tailored to her current interests. I know she is in such safe hands and the regular updates throughout the day that are logged on the nursery app means I can see through photos, videos and observations that she is happy. I am kept thoroughly up to date with her development, and all staff are knowledgeable so can readily advise me should I have any questions. I would not consider sending my daughter anywhere else!

My daughter has been attending Woodville Day Nursery since January 2019. She absolutely loves going into nursery every day. She enjoys all of the daily activities, from singing and sensory play to arts and crafts, walks to the park and role-play – the things she gets up to in a day is fantastic. She
also enjoys a huge variety of healthy, home-cooked food and is taught good table manners. After a year of attending the nursery, she is thriving, happy and full of self-confidence and enjoys nothing more than seeing her friends every day. Her progression, learning and development is a huge testament to her keyworker and all of the amazing staff who are caring, kind and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. Communication about her learning and development, and about her day, in general, is delivered daily via the portal, as well as face-to-face updates in an evening when I collect her. My mind is always at ease when she’s there, and I am so grateful for everything they do for her.

My son was very reluctant to start a new school, he had always been upset about leaving other places, but has embraced the pre-school session. The support and loving nature, shown by all staff, has been excellent. He now leaves me in a confident, positive manner eager to start the day.
He enjoys the

My daughter started at the age of 9 months, but she was actually born preterm so she was 7 months corrected. Starting her at Woodville Day Nursery was one of the best decisions I have ever made. She is happy and thriving well. The staff at Woodville Day Nursery are like a family to me. I owe them so
much and I am so grateful for all the love and care they give my daughter.
She has such a good time during the week, at times she gets bored with me on weekends.

I was really anxious about sending my little boy to a nursery but my mind was put at ease during the settling in sessions and how well my little boy settled in, considering he had never had me leave him anywhere before. They have been absolutely brilliant with my daughter, she was so used to being with me iI was worried about the stress that going to nursery would cause her but she loves the staff. She cant wait to tell them about everything that happens. My job also means I sometimes have to swap days and the management

Woodville Day Nursery is such a friendly and professional nursery. Both of my children have been here and I couldn't have asked for a better place for them to go. Children are really well taken care of and love attending. The food is really lovely and staff teach their children good table manners and
healthy eating habits. I could not recommend it more highly.

I was so apprehensive about leaving our son at nursery when I went back to work. I really didn't need to worry, he absolutely loves it and it's all down to the hard work and care of the ladies who look after him. They even made sure I was ok on his first day and I regularly look at the app during the
day to see what activities he is up to.
Everyone is so friendly and supportive and our son has settled in so well.

I was very anxious about my daughter going to a childcare setting. I did lots of research and looked around many in the local area but Woodville Day Nursery was by far the best. From the minute myself and my daughter entered the building we were made to feel like we’d been there for years. The separation
from my daughter was hard for me and the staff worked hard to make the settling in time so unique to our needs. The environment and the teaching and learning that takes place is amazing with staff that really are passionate about what they offer the children. I loved how the nursery got parents involved in events and encouraged parents to spend time in the nursery. Although I was so anxious about leaving my daughter I made the best decision as she is now so confident in social situations and her development and independence have grown since being at the nursery. I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone looking for a professional, caring and stimulating place for their child.

My daughter, who is now 7, attended the nursery and my 2 year old son currently attends. I have only positive comments about the nursery, the staff are so friendly and helpful, and my children have always formed a lovely bond with many of the staff members. The nursery is always well maintained and
clean. The food is always varied, tasty and nutritious. Most of all my son loves to go and gets excited when it is a nursery day which says it all! The nursery was recommended to me and I would highly recommend it to others. I will be sad when my little boy leaves when it is time for school.

My son had rarely left my side in 2 years, as my husband travels with work. I was very anxious about him starting nursery for a couple of mornings a week and as you can imagine it has been extremely hard on us both. Right from our first contact with the nursery, I have found every part and every person
to be welcoming, professional and caring. The settling in process has been hard and long but the nursery has worked with me and my son to make this work, going the extra mile for us both. They have shown they understand my anxiety and concerns and have been very accommodating. I can see my son enjoys his time there and he developed a good bond with the team in his room quickly as they all have helped him to settle. I highly recommend this nursery.

My daughter has been with Woodville Day Nursery over a year now she is 4 years old and her key workers are brilliant. My daughter is very chatty and full of fun and mischief and sufferers from mostly nocturnal seizures so can be sleepy or absent at times and a little difficult and sometimes plays the
odd prank too. But they handle her so well they have taken time to get to know her and she genuinely loves coming here where she learns relevant and educational preschool activities in a well organised played out way. I find all of the staff friendly and helpful.

I can't thank Woodville Day Nursery enough for the care my daughter receives.
My daughter attends the toddler room in the nursery and the excitement she has going to nursery and how happy she is when I leave her and pick her up gives me so much joy to know my daughter is safe in there care.
The staff
at the nursery are so friendly and easy to talk to and will do anything for me and my daughter.
There are times I do extra shifts at work and the nursery try and be as flexible as possible, I can ring them at 7 am and my daughter can be there by 7:30 even if she wasn't meant to be in that day.
My daughter has been at Woodville Nursery since baby room 1 and every single staff member have gone above and beyond caring for my daughter and I can't thank them enough for the care and the love they give her as my daughter loves them.
I can't recommend this nursery enough.

Our little boy started Nursery in January in the preschool sessional room and loves it! He settled in very quickly during his taster days, even though he had never been in a nursery setting before. I am so impressed with the level of care our child receives at Woodville Day Nursery. All the staff are
welcoming, friendly, helpful and enthusiastic, especially all of the staff that work closely with our little boy. Communication with parents is excellent, we have feedback every day as to what our sons been up to and we love receiving updates and photos on the parent portal. The staff are keen to plan activities around children’s interests and all the activities and resources within the nursery look exciting and engaging. We are kept informed of our child’s next learning steps and receive regular emails from the nursery.
I have already recommended Woodville Day Nursery to my friends and we are very pleased that we chose this nursery for our little boy.

My son has attended this nursery from 6 months old. I can't praise the staff enough - they can't do enough for your child and are so encouraging of their progress. As a teacher, I also really appreciate the detailed reports and regular feedback on next steps in learning. My little boy loves going to

I was blown away on my first visit to Woodville Day Nursery. Such a spacious, clean, calming and caring environment. There are so many different activities available to my daughter, throughout her time spent here. The outside play area is an added bonus and it is always well staffed. The staff genuinely
seem interested and care for my daughter which is very reassuring for me. She has settled in well and already knows to go to her carers when she needs to.
I have every faith that she will continue to flourish whilst she is here.

Amanda

Amanda Gadsby

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2002

Amanda has worked for Woodville Nursery School for over 20 years. She started as a student while completing her BTEC in Early Years, and progressed through the years to Senior Nursery Manager. She also obtained her Level 5 in Leadership and Management.


Amanda has two children who both attend the nursery school. She enjoys all aspects of her role and strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children at the nursery.
