The team at Woodville Nursery & Preschool understands that every child is unique, with their own experiences, interests and ways of learning. Their carefully designed spaces across two sites allow each child to learn in a manner and at a pace that suits them best. Children are encouraged daily to explore, question and imagine, helping them develop a genuine love of learning and a naturally curious mindset.

Woodville’s provision is spread across two dedicated settings. The Blacksmith’s Lane site offers year-round care for children from six weeks to five years old, while the newly opened preschool on Moira Road provides sessional care for children aged two and above. Across both locations, families benefit from a highly skilled team with extensive early years expertise, including practitioners trained in Forest School approaches.

Funding & Fees

Full day (7:30 am to 6:00 pm) from £74.25

We want to make life simple, so our fees include snacks and meals, cooked on site. For young babies, parents are requested to bring in their own formula milk.


Children with preschool sessional care receive snacks and have the flexibility to bring in their own lunch or pay an additional £3 for a nutritious packed lunch prepared by our chef.

My son started here in October 2020, he’s 4 already so moving his nurseries was a difficult decision to make but by far the best one I’ve ever made. He’s come along so well academically in the last 2 months, I could not be more thankful to the staff that care for him. He’s lactose intolerant and a very
picky eater and they are so understanding and nothing is too much trouble. Best nursery in the area (we did our research) and I completely stand by that. Thank you again, everyone, at Woodville day nursery, especially the nursery managers.

My daughter started at Woodville Nursery in September and adores it! She is always so excited to go to nursery and on the weekends is asking when it's time to go back! The staff are fantastic and especially at a time when things are very different they have been amazing at supporting my daughter despite
the challenges and changes they have faced. They do fantastic activities with the children from baking to singing and dancing which my daughter loves! Would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone looking into it!

This nursery is amazing the girls have really helped and bought out the best in my daughter. They always put in so much effort with every child individually I've never once felt uncomfortable and nothing is ever too much trouble. I can't wait for my youngest daughter to start in January!

I visited 4 nurseries before choosing Woodville Day Nursery. The manager conducted the visit that was after hours (COVID) I was impressed that from the beginning the children and staff were being kept as safe as possible. Our son has taken to nursery life and from the daily updates/photos, we receive

My child has attended since she was 6 months old and is now in preschool. She loves going and has settled in well in every room. The staff are brilliant and friendly. I receive regular updates about what my child has done each day. The staff were also fantastic during lockdown and were very accommodating.
I am really pleased with the progress my child has made and the staff have provided stimulating activities that I would be unable to do at home. Would highly recommend it.

I am so happy I chose Woodville Day Nursery when I moved to the area. I knew immediately upon visiting that I would be choosing to send my children here. There are many activities inside and out that the children can participate in and everybody are very friendly and understanding. A home from home
atmosphere has really helped my daughter settle in and their sensitive handling of the coronavirus pandemic has been incredible. Thank you Woodville Day Nursery.

My son has attended the nursery since he was 9-months-old: he is now preparing to start school in a couple of weeks. The nursery is fantastic - everyone from the admin staff to the carers, to the cleaners and the cooks, have made my son feel comfortable and even special through the time and care they
take over him. He has loved it here and has grown socially, emotionally and academically: he is a bright and confident young man, in no small part due to the staff here. Their handling of coronavirus was professional, thorough and sensitive: they kept in touch with us when we were at home and welcomed us back once it was safe to do so. They have been a large part of both our lives, and we will both miss them.

My son started Woodville at 10-months-old, and he is now ready to leave for his new adventure of starting school. I can’t thank all the staff enough for being a part of his puzzle and helping bring home from home environment. The girls at Woodville haven’t just been staff; they have become part of our
family. The nursery is a huge step in any parents life, that first day trusting another person to care for your baby, but these girls go above and beyond, and I’m excited to know they will be apart of our lives for another 3-years when our daughter starts. Thank you for being amazing, thank you for everything you do day in day out, and thank you for making the last 4-years unforgettable.

My little boy has been attending the nursery for around 9 months and he loves every session. As he only attends weekly, I was concerned about how he would settle but the staff were fantastic and now he just strolls in - even after the recent extended break! We are kept updated on his progress and achievements
and he always comes home in the very best of moods!

I was very nervous about sending my son to nursery at such a young age, he was 9 months old and settled in lovely! The staff are amazing and so helpful and caring. He’s nearly 3 and if anyone asks me I highly recommend this nursery. My son loves the staff and children and has learnt extremely well here.

The staff, facilities, food and care have always been amazing and my son
loves it.

My daughter currently attends Woodville Day Nursery and has been there since 2018, when she started at 10 months old. I have complete and utter trust in the managers, who are absolutely wonderful, putting every child’s individual needs at the heart of everything they do. The staff are highly trained
and passionate about working with young children. My daughter loves going to nursery and enjoys such a wide range of activities that are tailored to her current interests. I know she is in such safe hands and the regular updates throughout the day that are logged on the nursery app means I can see through photos, videos and observations that she is happy. I am kept thoroughly up to date with her development, and all staff are knowledgeable so can readily advise me should I have any questions. I would not consider sending my daughter anywhere else!

My daughter has been attending Woodville Day Nursery since January 2019. She absolutely loves going into nursery every day. She enjoys all of the daily activities, from singing and sensory play to arts and crafts, walks to the park and role-play – the things she gets up to in a day is fantastic. She
also enjoys a huge variety of healthy, home-cooked food and is taught good table manners. After a year of attending the nursery, she is thriving, happy and full of self-confidence and enjoys nothing more than seeing her friends every day. Her progression, learning and development is a huge testament to her keyworker and all of the amazing staff who are caring, kind and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. Communication about her learning and development, and about her day, in general, is delivered daily via the portal, as well as face-to-face updates in an evening when I collect her. My mind is always at ease when she’s there, and I am so grateful for everything they do for her.

My son was very reluctant to start a new school, he had always been upset about leaving other places, but has embraced the pre-school session. The support and loving nature, shown by all staff, has been excellent. He now leaves me in a confident, positive manner eager to start the day.

My daughter started at the age of 9 months, but she was actually born preterm so she was 7 months corrected. Starting her at Woodville Day Nursery was one of the best decisions I have ever made. She is happy and thriving well. The staff at Woodville Day Nursery are like a family to me. I owe them so

They have been absolutely brilliant with my daughter, she was so used to being with me iI was worried about the stress that going to nursery would cause her but she loves the staff. She cant wait to tell them about everything that happens. My job also means I sometimes have to swap days and the management

Woodville Day Nursery is such a friendly and professional nursery. Both of my children have been here and I couldn't have asked for a better place for them to go. Children are really well taken care of and love attending. The food is really lovely and staff teach their children good table manners and

I was so apprehensive about leaving our son at nursery when I went back to work. I really didn't need to worry, he absolutely loves it and it's all down to the hard work and care of the ladies who look after him. They even made sure I was ok on his first day and I regularly look at the app during the
day to see what activities he is up to.
Everyone is so friendly and supportive and our son has settled in so well.

Amanda Gadsby

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2002

Amanda has worked for Woodville Nursery School for over 20 years. She started as a student while completing her BTEC in Early Years, and progressed through the years to Senior Nursery Manager. She also obtained her Level 5 in Leadership and Management.


Amanda has two children who both attend the nursery school. She enjoys all aspects of her role and strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children at the nursery.
