The team at Woodville Nursery & Preschool recognises that every child is different with their own story to tell. The tailored spaces across their two sites ensure that each child learns in a way and at a pace that's right for them. Every day at Woodville, children are encouraged to be inquisitive and imaginative in their stimulating learning environments. In doing so, children soon develop a real love of learning and a curious mind.

Woodville's learning environments are split across two settings. The Blacksmith's Lane site provides all year round care for children from six weeks to five years old. At their brand new preschool on Moira Road, they provide sessional care for children aged two and older. Across both sites, Woodville is proud to have a highly experienced team with a wealth of early years learning insight, including educators qualified in Forest School.

  • We want to make life simple, so our fees include snacks and meals, cooked on site. For young babies, parents are requested to bring in their own formula milk.


    Children with preschool sessional care receive snacks and have the flexibility to bring in their own lunch or pay an additional £3 for a nutritious packed lunch prepared by our chef.

Woodville Day Nursery provides a fun and adventurous learning environment. Our little one comes home after every session so happy and has learnt something new every time! I placed my boy and girl (twins) at Woodville nursery a year ago and have been blown away by the support and professionalism of all the staff I’ve encountered. Not only am I a first-time mum, so basically a bag of worry. I became a single parent not long after the twins were 1 year old. The staff have
been supportive, answering my emails quickly, providing advice and guidance, flexible with sessions and just genuinely warm and friendly people. It’s taken the fear out of what was a stressful time and during COVID as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring for the most important people in my life so that I can work and provide the best start to theirs.

Both my children have been going since they were babies. We visited 5 nurseries in the area prior to choosing but straight away both I and my husband said Woodville just felt “right”. The staff in every room have always been amazing and my children (now 3 and 2) absolutely love going. They have accommodated
both my children’s allergies and cared for my son’s asthma with no problems. It means the world to me that whilst I am at work I am 100% confident that they are safe, truly being cared for, learning new skills, making friends and having fun. I would recommend Woodville Nursery to anyone with no reservations.

The staff in the baby room 1 made us feel very welcome despite COVID restrictions, I was able to do one settling in an hour in the room before my child started and this helped me and him feel reassured. We also did other settling in with him on his own and they looked after him so well. They constantly
update me through the day with things he does and I get a whole Diary at the end of the day with all he’s eaten, sleep times. They are flexible with him, saving him lunches and working with me as I start a job search. Highly recommend.

After joining Woodville nursery in the midst of the pandemic, I was apprehensive and worried about how my daughter would settle in, after not having much interaction with others. The staff at the nursery, especially the managers and the baby room staff, have been incredibly supportive. They have provided
excellent communication throughout, whether that be specific to my daughter or the wider goings-on of the nursery. My daughter took a few weeks to settle in but now can't wait to go in the morning and is very content when I pick her up in the evening. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough.

The best nursery. The staff are all friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. My little one loves going to nursery and learns so much. So many different activities. My son started here in October 2020, he’s 4 already so moving his nurseries was a difficult decision to make but by far the best one I’ve ever made. He’s come along so well academically in the last 2 months, I could not be more thankful to the staff that care for him. He’s lactose intolerant and a very

My daughter started at Woodville Nursery in September and adores it! She is always so excited to go to nursery and on the weekends is asking when it's time to go back! The staff are fantastic and especially at a time when things are very different they have been amazing at supporting my daughter despite
the challenges and changes they have faced. They do fantastic activities with the children from baking to singing and dancing which my daughter loves! Would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone looking into it!

This nursery is amazing the girls have really helped and bought out the best in my daughter. They always put in so much effort with every child individually I've never once felt uncomfortable and nothing is ever too much trouble. I can't wait for my youngest daughter to start in January!

I visited 4 nurseries before choosing Woodville Day Nursery. The manager conducted the visit that was after hours (COVID) I was impressed that from the beginning the children and staff were being kept as safe as possible. My child has attended since she was 6 months old and is now in preschool. She loves going and has settled in well in every room. The staff are brilliant and friendly. I receive regular updates about what my child has done each day. The staff were also fantastic during lockdown and were very accommodating.
I am really pleased with the progress my child has made and the staff have provided stimulating activities that I would be unable to do at home. Would highly recommend it.

I am so happy I chose Woodville Day Nursery when I moved to the area. I knew immediately upon visiting that I would be choosing to send my children here. There are many activities inside and out that the children can participate in and everybody are very friendly and understanding. A home from home
atmosphere has really helped my daughter settle in and their sensitive handling of the coronavirus pandemic has been incredible. Thank you Woodville Day Nursery.

My son has attended the nursery since he was 9-months-old: he is now preparing to start school in a couple of weeks. The nursery is fantastic - everyone from the admin staff to the carers, to the cleaners and the cooks, have made my son feel comfortable and even special through the time and care they
take over him. He has loved it here and has grown socially, emotionally and academically: he is a bright and confident young man, in no small part due to the staff here. Their handling of coronavirus was professional, thorough and sensitive: they kept in touch with us when we were at home and welcomed us back once it was safe to do so. They have been a large part of both our lives, and we will both miss them.

My son started Woodville at 10-months-old, and he is now ready to leave for his new adventure of starting school. I can’t thank all the staff enough for being a part of his puzzle and helping bring home from home environment. The girls at Woodville haven’t just been staff; they have become part of our
family. The nursery is a huge step in any parents life, that first day trusting another person to care for your baby, but these girls go above and beyond, and I’m excited to know they will be apart of our lives for another 3-years when our daughter starts. My little boy has been attending the nursery for around 9 months and he loves every session. As he only attends weekly, I was concerned about how he would settle but the staff were fantastic and now he just strolls in - even after the recent extended break! We are kept updated on his progress and achievements
and he always comes home in the very best of moods!

I was very nervous about sending my son to nursery at such a young age, he was 9 months old and settled in lovely! The staff are amazing and so helpful and caring. He’s nearly 3 and if anyone asks me I highly recommend this nursery. My son loves the staff and children and has learnt extremely well here.

The staff, facilities, food and care have always been amazing and my son

Amanda Gadsby

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2002

Amanda has worked for Woodville Nursery School for over 20 years. She started as a student while completing her BTEC in Early Years, and progressed through the years to Senior Nursery Manager. She also obtained her Level 5 in Leadership and Management.


Amanda has two children who both attend the nursery school. She enjoys all aspects of her role and strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children at the nursery.
