Car parking can be chaotic - not a lot the nursery can do but worth highlighting to prospective parents.
The nursery provides fruit at the end of the day but this is often gone by 5 - it surely wouldn’t hurt to top this up for parents who arrive after this time (of which there are many).
These 3 things aside, it is a great nursery and we have no hesitation recommending it (so much so that our daughter starts in July as well).
Thank you for your lovely review, we welcome all feedback and appreciate that you have taken the time to share your thoughts in writing and in person. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to discuss the points raised and would like to thank you for the continuing privilege of caring for your precious son, and (very soon) daughter. Kind regards.
The smallest of touches had a big impact for us such as the personalised welcome signs and the fact all staff and parents have to take their shoes off before entering the baby room.
It really demonstrated to us that the staff really do care.
Our daughter started quite a few months after our visit and as a first time mum of a baby with a milk allergy it was a very emotional and anxious time for me.
The staff are so friendly, approachable and understanding at such a huge time in your life it makes the transition a little less daunting.
Our daughter has developed a really good bond with her key worker which again I feel reflects the supportive, engaging and safe environment of the nursery.
Thank you to everyone at the nursery.
The facilities are second to none - you will not find a nursery like it in the area. From the extensive classrooms and play areas to the freshly cooked meals and well thought out activities. I have found the staff and managers extremely supportive and despite being very busy, always seem to have time for my numerous questions. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursery to others.
What a wonderful nursery. Both my boys attend Children 1st at St Peter and St Paul and we couldn’t be happier. The staff here create a warm and nurturing environment where children are very well looked after. We particularly like the range of planned activities which are carefully thought out to stimulate and educate. Children 1st make it a lot easier for me to go to work.
Children's 1st at St Peter and St Paul are amazing. The whole journey from starting my daughter at ten months old to now (3.5 years) has been faultless. I feel so close to all the staff and in fact, they have helped me transition through the many stages of parenting and child stages from weaning to potty training to phonics. My daughter's key workers have always made me feel so involved and valued, feeding back lots of little bits of information that, as a mother, are so important but yet seem so minor e.g. she ate peas today. They always work with my concerns and challenges to help reinforce that learning at nursery e.g. listening to mummy. My daughter has excelled so rapidly with her social and learning skills. The staff have completely captivated her into the learning journey and she loves role play, counting, phonics and messy play. She even role plays the nursery environment at home. The facilities are remarkable with the outside play, role play area and woodland visits.
My daughter is very happy at nursery. She is excited to go each morning and always has lots to tell us about her day. All the staff work hard to ensure she is well cared for, happy, safe and is developing a very wide range of skills.
From the people who work at St Peter & St Paul, to the amazing facilities, to the coffee van in the morning at drop off time (life-saving) and the efficient administration, this nursery really is second to none. The regular newsletters keep us up to date as well as the topic guides and how they fit with EYFS which helps us to connect learning at home. Working full time, having all meals included saves us so much time and allows us to spend our time at home with our daughter during the evenings. The forest sessions every week are a highlight, sparking imagination and conversation. The updates via the online app are great to see what our daughter has been up to while she is in. I’m sure I’ve missed something, but every detail is really fantastic. Our daughter has come on leaps and bounds since attending. I’d recommend to anyone.
From day one, the staff made our son very comfortable and in the 4 months that he has attended nursery he has developed dramatically. The daily diaries keep us informed and the parent portal reports are fantastic. All in all, we have one happy boy in the nursery which equals happy parents.
My little boy has settled in very well thanks to the amazing staff. So pleased we chose this nursery, there is so much on offer for children to develop and be happy.
My daughter has been with the nursery for just over one year. I am extremely happy with the care she has received within the baby and toddler rooms. Both her keyworkers have been excellent in providing her with stimulating, loving, safe experiences and environment. In fact, all the staff are welcoming and friendly; from the groundsmen to the nursery nurses. I would highly recommend.
I always feel the environments so far in which she has been cared for in, display nothing but love and care.
I feel my daughter's learning and development is being nurtured. This is evident in our observations on EYLOG but also from what I see day to day when visiting.
Our daughter's confidence has come on immensely; particularly over the last couple of months since moving into Benjamin Bunnies. After an unsettled transition from the baby suite, the staff have been amazing at helping our daughter settle. They've given her both the time and space she needs to process her new environment, whilst giving her 'important jobs' to keep her focused (and distracted). On a recent trip away we noticed a huge difference in her approach to activities she previously was wary to try ie. paddling in the sea, riding the carousel! We can't speak highly enough of how fabulous the staff are!
My twin boys attend this nursery from the age of 6 months old and I have never had any complaints or worries regarding anything towards my children or how we were treated. All the staff are amazing, caring and will go out of their way to make sure you're happy and that the children are happy. The boys will have nothing but the happiest of memories and experiences from attending this nursery. Thank you.
Such a wonderful, friendly, caring environment for any child to be part of. The staff are lovely and truly have your child’s best interests at heart. My son has blossomed since starting at St. Peter and Paul’s. He’s always so excited to go to nursery and he can’t wait to tell me what he’s been up to when it’s come to pick up. I couldn't recommend St. Peter and Paul’s more.
My daughter has been going to Children First at St Peter & St Paul for 7 months since she was 10 months old. We had viewed another nursery but from the moment we walked into St Peter & St Paul we knew this was the one. The staff are friendly, professional, attentive and caring and the facilities are excellent. She loves coming to nursery and has come on so much during her time here as well as having lots of fun each week. All the staff take a genuine interest and each child is regarded as an individual and their own needs taken into account. I recommend St Peter & St Paul to everyone!
Thanks to their hard work, we have seen huge improvements in a short amount of time.
We're happy with it and would recommend it if friends don't mind large-ish class sizes. My son has been going for a year and is really enjoying it now they are doing more interesting things, such as extra dance classes and topics such as space. The food is good, it's safe and clean, but there doesn't seem to be much time to focus on a child's individual needs as each key worker is responsible for several children. The child gets comfy with one key worker, and then they change (my son has had 4 over the year, which has been unsettling.) We are happy overall but the one-to-one attention that quieter children need to build trust can't always be given.
Kind Regards
An excellent nursery with great facilities and amazing staff. The management team are very accommodating to any support or requests. Above all, my child loves it here and has been attending since she is 9 months old, now 2 years old. Highly recommended.
Both of our sons attend this nursery, we would never consider anywhere else! The staff and facilities are exceptional!
My eldest comes home from nursery daily, engaged and excited about the activities that he has been taking part in. He is able to demonstrate and explain topics which he has discussed as part of his learning in nursery. I also feel that his interests are taken into consideration and brought into the learning activities in the classrooms! Nursery are playing a huge part in preparing him for starting school later this year, both in terms of his learning and social development and his confidence and independence.
The baby suite for younger children also offers exceptional care and a fantastic and stimulating learning environment. Activities, even for the youngest children, are engaging, stimulating and enjoyable. My youngest son greets the staff most morning with a smile and a big hug! This tells me how happy and comfortable he is in this environment!
Our eldest daughter particularly is really growing in confidence, thanks to the amazing team.

Meet the Team (2)

Hello, my name is Lisa Phillpot and I joined Children 1st in 2010.
I started my journey as a newly qualified Nursery Educator and progressed through senior positions, becoming Deputy Manager with the Over 2’s, and now Manager of the Baby Suite for the Under 2’s.
I hold an NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education, which I’m really proud of.
I love watching the children develop into little people and knowing that we’ve helped shape their personalities. I also enjoy supporting and developing my team, helping to build a new generation of confident, passionate nursery educators.
I am especially passionate about supporting our families and creating a safe, nurturing environment where our children can learn, grow, and develop new skills.

Hello, my name is Natalie Fern and I joined Children 1st in 2009. I started as a newly qualified practitioner and over the years worked my way up to a Senior role, then Deputy Manager, Early Years Lead, and have now been Nursery Manager for the past three years.
I’m proud to hold a BA Honours Degree in Early Years Education.
What I enjoy most about my role is supporting our children and families as they grow and develop, while also seeing how the nursery team continues to support and lift one another.
I’m passionate about creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment where both children and staff can learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.
