Child 1st Bakewell was acquired in February 2017, and is based within a stunning Grade ll listed building nestled in the heart of the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire.

A range of child-led and adult-led approaches to learning and exploration are provided by an experienced and motivated staff team.

This welcoming provision is a safe 'home from home' for young children to develop and grow in confidence, playing and learning with their peers.

The chef creates a daily menu of tasty and delicious fresh meals. Any special dietary requirements are taken into account.

Child 1st (Bakewell) Day Nursery was so much more to us than we could have ever imagined. Our little one started at 10 months old and has just left to go to school. At every stage he, and we, have been well supported and he has enjoyed it so much there. There is so much wonderful space and the staff
are super creative in how they use it. The staff are kind, caring and have always gone the extra mile. We will miss our Child 1st family so much! Thanks for the last four years!

My child has attended Child 1st (Bakewell) Day Nursery for many years and I must say that I could not be happier with them. He has learnt and developed emotionally and physically with them so much.
He has really enjoyed nursery and he asked every morning when he would be going.
He made very good friends
with everybody, this has helped him with moving on to infant school.

The nursery have been fantastic settling our son into nursery and helping with his development. The updates they provide are great, especially when we get pictures and videos of what he's doing. The staff are great - friendly, informative and helpful. Always keen to share when we pick him up what he's

Both of my children attend nursery. One in preschool, one in the baby room. They both love nursery. It is a lovely place, lovely food for children, plenty to play with, feel so happy to leave my children here.

Granddaughter is in the baby room and has loved attending Child 1st Day Nursery from the very start and didn’t take very long to get settled in. She gets excited to go to nursery and spend time with all the girls that take care of her.

My little girl moved to toddlers from babies in August and she struggled with the change. The girls handled the situation brilliantly…she now walks into nursery without a tear. They give her great support throughout the day.
She thinks the world of all of the girls, but especially the nursery practitioner
(she even wanted to go on holiday with her when she told us she was going to be off for a week!).
The girls at Child 1st Day Nursery set my first daughter up for school perfectly and I have no doubts that they will do the same for my second.

My daughter currently attends this nursery and my son has just moved up to primary school from here. Both children absolutely love going in and talk about how much they love the staff. Communication upon pick up and drop off is amazing and it’s also lovely to have photos and videos throughout the day
showing what they are up to. All incidents are dealt with in a caring and calm manner, amazing forest school on Thursdays, always a different activity each day, I have complete trust in everyone that looks after my child. Thank you everyone at Child 1st (Bakewell) Day Nursery!

Child 1st Nursery in Bakewell is superb.
My little boy is very energetic and emotional and there have been some challenging behaviours to navigate. The staff at Child 1st are always so supportive, knowledgeable and kind. They go above and beyond to replicate and reinforce individual parenting styles
for each child. I’m really not sure how they do it. They are always incredibly honest and that feedback has enabled my little boy to flourish since he has been there. They all work so hard and do it all with a smile on their faces every day. The activities and food are all excellent.
Bottom line is that my little boy loves it there and that is so reassuring and makes my heart happy.

This nursery is wonderful. Having two children, one that has left and one that currently attends, I received amazing support from all the staff with any concerns I have. I feel at ease with the fact I can contact my child’s key worker throughout the day and see what my child has been doing all day.
There is so much this nursery offers overall, it is a wonderful place for a child to start their schooling journey.

I can not give Child 1st Bakewell Day Nursery enough praise, they are absolutely fantastic, my daughter enjoyed every minute of her time here and my son who currently attends in the preschool room can't wait to go every morning, as a parent it is a huge relief to know they are so happy while there and
they're in such a safe and enjoyable environment. I can highly recommend the nursery to any new parents or anyone moving into the area, your kids will receive the highest level of care.

We have an 18-month-old and a preschooler at Child 1st (Bakewell) Day Nursery and have been absolutely delighted with our experience. The app is fantastic, allowing you to see exactly what the toddler has been eating/drinking and how long he has slept, which is valuable information when you're settling
them down for the evening! We get regular photos, videos and updates on their progress. The staff are lovely and the facilities are top-notch. We feel very lucky to have our two there and would recommend the daycare to anyone.

Great little nursery. Never had any worries when leaving my little ones with the great team that do an excellent job of looking after and teaching them so well. My two absolutely love it there. I love to hear how they have been and what they’ve been up to at the end of a day.

Our little boy absolutely loves every day he spends at Child 1st (Bakewell) Day Nursery. He started there in March 2021 after a big house move and lots of change and has grown in confidence every single week. He talks about his keyworkers even when he’s not in nursery, as well as all the other children
there and the sense of community for the kids is clear. I feel safe and happy leaving him in their hands and love watching him walk up to the door eager for another day of fun!

Since my daughter has been coming here she has come on leaps and bounds, being a lockdown baby she never had much interaction with other people until nursery where she has really come out of her shell and her confidence growing. The staff are amazing and my child always seems happy to see them and runs

The service has always been amazing from dropping my daughter off nearly a year ago in the baby room when I started back at work after maternity leave to now she is about to move into the toddler room. I cannot thank the staff enough. My daughter has gone from throwing up from being so upset at the

Since my daughter started attending I have seen a big improvement in her social skills, which has been the biggest relief after constant lockdowns and being unable to socialise her with other children. Before she would be very shy when spoken to by anyone outside of her family bubble but now she runs
up to children to socialise with them.
The updates on the app are something I often look forward to and appreciate that the staff take the time to take pictures throughout the day and let us know just how our child is getting on. Particularly when they mark developmental milestones and connections.
There are a wide range of activities that the children can do throughout the day, inside and outside. The food provided throughout the day (snacks, drinks and meals) are always healthy and noted on the app with a rough guide on how much your child has eaten - which is incredibly helpful when it comes to making food for when they come home.
Couldn’t recommend them enough!

I have nothing but great praise for the amazing nursery and staff at Child 1st Bakewell.
My son really enjoys his days at nursery and tries to tell me and mummy all about his day.
You all have helped him to develop so well and make him really relaxed and happy there, thank you.
You also have been
a super help to me and my wife with advice for dealing with my son and being very understanding with our own complex issues.
A very big thank you to the staff who make my son's days so eventful and very fun for him.
An extra thank you to the nursery manager who has been a super help to me and my wife, she has found us extra info to help with my son's needs and been very understanding with our current situation.
