Child 1st Bakewell was acquired in February 2017, and is based within a stunning Grade ll listed building nestled in the heart of the town of Bakewell in Derbyshire.

A range of child-led and adult-led approaches to learning and exploration are provided by an experienced and motivated staff team.

This welcoming provision is a safe 'home from home' for young children to develop and grow in confidence, playing and learning with their peers.

The chef creates a daily menu of tasty and delicious fresh meals. Any special dietary requirements are taken into account.

The staff are enthusiastic and caring staff. We get regular updates compared to other providers used for our other child. Our daughter loves going to nursery and this is testament to the environment she is met with. Thank you!

My son went to this nursery from being a 9 month old baby up to being a four and a half year old boy, so all the way through nursery until he started school. He has just graduated from the nursery and left to start school. I wanted to write this review because this is an excellent nursery! My son was
a shy clingy baby when he started the nursery and years later, he left the nursery as a happy confident independent boy, and that is mainly because of the excellent care he received from everyone working there. This nursery was like a second home to him and the staff who work at the nursery, in every room, are absolutely fantastic at their jobs. The staff do lots of fun, creative and educational activities with the children and keep parents well informed throughout the day with lots of photos and videos. This nursery was such a life line to me and my son and I will really miss all the lovely members of staff who work there! I honestly cannot recommend this nursery enough! Sarah, mum of Leo

Fabulous nursery, the staff deserve medals as they are outstanding.
My little one was extremely clingy before starting nursery, however he now runs to the door to greet the staff without even a backwards glance goodbye!
He's come on leaps and bounds in his social confidence, motor skills and intellectual
development since starting there. He's always adored nursery meals and eats much more for them than for me at home!
We love checking how his day is going using the Famly app. The staff are excellent at updating it.
I'm always impressed at the creative activities they conjure up for the kids and the themes for each week at nursery.
I highly recommend Bakewell Childs First nursery to anybody!

My daughter has recently started at Child 1st Bakewell in the baby room.
Entrusting the care of your child to someone is not a decision to make lighty and I am certain I have made the right choice with this nursery. The care & comminication we have received so far has been absolutely amazing and we
are so relieved to be able to go to work knowing our baby is in safe hands.
All the staff are so lovely and nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Child 1st Bakewell provides a loving, stable and nurturing environment for our daughters. The team have been instrumental in engaging the girls in daily tasks to grow their skills and keep them stimulated and active. My daughter has been attending for just over a year. The baby room staff are all lovely, welcoming and helpful, in particular my daughter's key worker who has been there every step of the way and kept me informed of everything she has done and achieved in baby room through the app. My daughter loves
the homemade food at nursery eating near enough all of every single meal put in front of her. She walks straight through the door with no hesitation at drop offs and comes out excited to show me what she has made throughout the day. In all she loves attending nursery and taking part in activities that she wouldn't necessarily be able to do at home and building friendships with other children.

Child 1st is a great nursery for my little boy. He enjoys himself whilst he's there and the team take great care of him. Communication is great and very efficient. It's great to see observations on a regular basis to see how's he's developing. Great also to see activities planned each week for exploration

Our daughter started nursery at Child 1st in December 2024. My husband and I have been overwhelmed by how caring and supportive the staff have been during what could have been a challenging milestone. Our daughter has settled in so well and we cannot thank the staff enough for the time, effort and dedication
shown.
Communication has been prompt and we love receiving the daily updates and weekly developmental observations via the app. The weekly topics and the daily tasks are very creative and are so engaging for the children.
It has been wonderful to see how our daughter's development has thrived since starting nursery.
I have also been impressed to hear about how varied and balanced the menu is.
I feel content dropping off my daughter in the morning as I know she is in good hands.

It was very daunting leaving our little one at nursery for the first time but after a few tearful drops off at the beginning, our little girl now loves to go to all of the lovely staff who greet her at the door. All the staff are so good with her and she comes back a happy (albeit a bit tired) girl
every day. We love to see all the updates on the app and see what she is getting up to.
Would highly recommend it, cannot fault the wonderful team here!

Our son started at this nursery back in May this year, and at the start he was very emotional and didn't want to attend nursery. The staff have been very patient with him and have given him the space to feel comfortable and gain confidence in a nursery setting. The room leader in his room has had a
really positive impact on him and he enjoys attending twice a week - the other staff in the room are also lovely and send us regular photos of the activities that they get up to.

Just want to thank you and all the staff for the last few year caring for my children! Prior to us changing their nursery, my child was often very upset on drop off making it very difficult for us to drop him off some days, we couldn't be happier with the setting and support both children have received.
He now enjoys coming to nursery and doesn't even look back now! We can tell how much they have both come on and how much happier they are at nursery, which for us as parents is the best feeling knowing they are safe, developing and well looked after.
All the staff are an absolute credit and are so helpful, you can tell that they treat the children they look after as if they are their own!

My two year old has been attending this nursery since she was 11 months and she loves it. My daughter will come home saying her room leader's name and how much she likes her. She's always up to fun activities that are great for her development.

All the staff are extremely accommodating. They're so good with my son and since starting have aided him in his learning. He's coming on leaps and bounds because of them. The staff are so good at keeping parents up to date with their kids in the nursery. We get multiple pictures each day and detailed
notes of food intake, changings and naps. Cannot fault the team, they're great.

Amazing nursery!! Staff can never do enough to help and ensure my daughter is happy there. Both my kids attended Child 1st Bakewell nursery. My youngest has just moved up to the preschool room and her transition was really smooth. My eldest still talks of her happy times at nursery despite now being

My little boy has only been going 5 weeks, and he's come on so much.
Better eating and drinking, using sippy cups properly now which he didn't do at home.
We can see he is learning to interact with others as he will get involved with other child now in his home life and he will use simple hand language.

Our son loves Child 1st Nursery, I have found his confidence, speech and interaction have progressed since attending. He has started to engage in conversation about the children he has played with as well as the activities he has been taking part in, to which is a vast variety. The staff are amazing
and offer encouragement in all the things he tries, from drinking out of a cup to taking part in games. He has also started to try different foods at home since starting which is good.

I can 1000% recommend Child 1st, Bakewell, both my children have had the best care imaginable during their time there. My eldest is leaving for school shortly and says he hopes school is as much fun as nursery! The staff are incredible, nothing is too much trouble. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them
