Child 1st (Stoke) nursery is focused on interaction with children and their overall happiness and well being, but also day to day involvement with the parents and other family members.

Staff are happy to receive feedback from families on any subject.
Staff work hard to offer all children care and learning.

The nursery has a separate outdoor area for babies - a soft surface play area and a grassed area. Older children have a larger outdoor area consisting of a soft surfaced area, a large planting area, and a grassed area.

Staff take learning outside so that the children can make the most of the weather while maintaining their learning environment.

My little girl has attended the nursery for several months now and is currently in the baby room. She had never been with anyone expect for us and her nanny so it was really important to us that she was settled and that the nursery had a homely feel. She didn't take long to settle at all. The staff
are very friendly, welcoming and were keen to get to know our little girl and settle her into nursery.
The setting cater to her dairy and soya allergies and offer a wide range of alternatives for her meals and snacks. My little girl is always keen to come into nursery and has built a strong bond with her key person and has relationships with all the staff which has been lovely for us to see. The nursery provides a large variety of activities for the children and shares information about their day and their observations with us. We always enjoy seeing what has been doing at nursery. The setting also has parents evenings to discuss what our daughter has been doing and working towards.

My two boys have attended the nursery since they were babies. I am very happy with the care they receive. The staff are very friendly and I would recommend the nursery.
The baby room is especially good, a lovely sleep room and plenty of space for them to develop and explore.

My two boys have attended Stepping Stones since they were babies and are now in the after school club. The staff are amazing and certainly bring the best out of the children. I would recommend Stepping Stones to any parent out there who is looking for a fantastic nursery!

My daughter has been here for a few weeks now and the staff are fantastic with her! She's learning so many new things and is coming out of her shell so much. This is her first nursery and she is so well looked after. My eldest daughter went here years ago and it was the same fantastic experience for
her as it is for my little one. Very happy with the care and attention my daughter receives. One happy mum and one happy little lady - 5*.

The staff are very friendly and make the child feel very comfortable within the nursery. This helps them to adjust to different situations within the environment they are in.

My children are very happy at the nursery and are cared for by friendly staff. The nursery are flexible in their approach which is really helpful to working parents. Keyworkers keep parents well informed with general daily events and the nursery, as a whole, provides a safe and happy environment for
my children.

My little one loves coming to nursery he gets so excited at home when I say we are off to nursery, he knows all the staff members names and recognizes them all even at home.
You always get a good handover on pick up and the girls aren't afraid to share concerns which I like.
You can tell there is
a lot of work happening at the moment but the children are left undisturbed by this and the nursery is looking better. The nursery management does try hard to be flexible which as working parents is a must for us!
My child eats better then me, no chicken nuggets and chips more like Morrocan style pork with couscous, my little boy can be a big eater and if he wants more they always give him a second dinner if needed :)

The staff are all lovely and you can tell how caring they are. Communication is also brilliant, I'm always kept up to date with things and given plenty of notice for any events that are

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.552)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.552) out of 10 for Child 1st (Stoke) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.938 for Child 1st (Stoke) is calculated as follows: ( (180 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 192 Ratings = 4.938
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.614 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Child 1st (Stoke) is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 112 number of registered child places is 22.4. 16 Positive Reviews ÷ 22.4 = 0.714
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
