Child 1st Solihull is a purpose built nursery that boasts a whole range of child friendly features; from under floor heating to the windows which go from floor to ceiling, from well-lit modern rooms, to there being no stairs and lots of changing and toilet areas.

The challenge was to ensure that the outdoors reflected the indoors and both are well resourced and run, with a team that really has developed an understanding of the needs of young children and aims to involve them at every level.

With access to the outdoors from every room and increasingly developing age appropriate environments both indoors and out makes Child 1st ideal for providing care and learning in an urban area.

I moved my son to Child 1st nursery in September 2025. I was really anxious following a previous negative experience at his last nursery.

As soon as my son walked through the doors of Child 1st he lit up. His confidence grew, his speech and engagement with others developed. Child 1st is my son's happy

place and there isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't tell me about all the fun he has with staff members and his friends in class.
The nursery's communication and school preparation are amazing.

All the ladies in the pre school room and across the whole nursery deserve awards. A massive thank you to them for seeing the light in my little boy and bringing it out for others to see. He will miss everyone when he starts school in September

My daughter has attended child 1st for nearly a year and I cannot explain how impressed I have been with this nursery. She skips in 3 days a week, their communication is second to none and the way she has developed since being there has been incredible. She has built in confidence, speech, made friends,
they do cute competitions, themed days and she is always happy and excited to attend. It means the world to a mum to know your child is safe and happy when out of your care and child 1st achieves that daily!

I picked Child 1st for my son as i lived close, my son was not able to communicate completely so I was very hesitant. Since joining in January he is a different boy, the staff have been amazing with him they go above and beyond. He is so much more confident, more vocal, joining in with other kids. It's
been an amazing experience and I could not thank the staff enough!

I'm absolutely pleased we picked Child 1st Nursery! My child has been attending since October last year when they turned one. They love going in and arw familiar with the staff. I get information on hand via the app as to what they ate, naps and nappy changes. Regular updates on their progress, pictures
of fun activities and even get offered to attend stay and play so we can watch our child's interaction.

My youngest child started at Child First Nursery on Cooks Lane back in September. I was so anxious as my eldest did not attend a private day nursery. Straight away staff made me feel comfortable, relaxed and welcomed. They were so kind and gentle to my little girl who at the time was 1 year, 2 months
old. I set up the family app which is brilliant and easy to use. The staff in Baby room keep me updated with what my little one is up to, eaten and her naps. The environment is welcoming and the activities I see my little girl doing through the app are engaging. Could not recommend this nursery enough.

This is the second setting my child has attended and I can say hands down it's the best nursery. Both management and staff are excellent with my child. They're all so hardworking and compassionate. A massive shout out to toddlers for all their efforts with my little girl, it all never goes unnoticed.
She's absolutely thriving since being apart of Child 1st Solihull x

We love this nursery. The staff is great, good communication, and they always keep us updated. Our daughter is simply thriving. In just a few months her speech has been improved to the point that she is able to communicate all her needs with us and she is just 19-months old and bilingual. All the girls
are very supportive and always ready to answer our questions. Thank you for making our daughter's first year of nursery such a great experience.

We absolutely love this nursery! My child has been attending since she was 1 years old and she has had such a wonderful experience. She really enjoys going to nursery and always has a big smile when I pick her up. The variety of snacks and meals is great, and we receive updates through the app. Throughout
the week, there are lots of exciting activities like Yoga and Jo Jingles which she looks forward to. It's a fantastic place for learning and fun! Fantastic nursery!

I was always unsure how my daughter would take going to nursery, but she loves it! She loves the staff, all the activities, and garden time. She only joined early January 2025 and her speech, independence and playing nicely has all grown. I also love that the staff keep us informed during the day via
the apps for food, toilet breaks, sleep and also that we're able to contact and check in at any given time.

Child 1st nursery in Solihull has surpassed all of our expectations. Our daughter's current key worker and the other girls in the baby room have been amazing with her. Not only has her key worker been very attentive with any enquiries we have regarding our little one, the key worker has always been
so thoughtful and caring, towards my little one and to me as her mother. I received a birthday card from my little one, handmade Christmas gifts and an endless amount of other pictures/drawings. These things are really important to parents! The management has also been brilliant with any minor issues we have ever had occur and have always ensured that we feel comfortable with any decisions made for our little one. Me and my partner love this nursery and do believe that we made the best decision by sending our daughter here. I've already recommended it to other friends of ours, without hesitation. Thank you girls for all of your hard work.

My son has been attending Child 1st Solihull for around a year now and I cannot stress enough how fantastic this place is. They keep us informed throughout the day via an app, which as a first-time-mom is so reassuring, especially when they first start attending.
The activities the staff provide for
the children exceed all of my expectations with visits from external organisations such as dance and yoga instructors. The staff are so personable and always happy to have a chat at pick up and drop off times. My son is so happy there and we couldn't have chosen a better nursery for him. Thank you.

Child 1st is a fantastic nursery. I have one child who's been there for almost a year and another that started in September both of them really enjoy nursery and speak so positively about the staff members. I can't thank the team in pre-school enough, two staff members in particular and especially my
child's key person, who always gives great observations showing me what my child's been doing, what they are learning, what's next to come and so on, my child's so comfortable and happy around them. As well as the team in toddlers and my sons key person, who again is always so friendly so informative, supportive and kind. Big thank you to them all for all their support especially two staff members in particular, who I've known for a long time, they're a real credit to the nursery and do such a wonderful job.

So happy I chose this nursery for my daughter. She has been at nursery now a little over a year and she has come on so much since attending! Staff are all lovely and supportive but even more so in the toddlers (my daughter's current room) she loves attending! I feel very at ease knowing she is happy
and content.
Thank you all so much!

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.970)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.970) out of 10 for Child 1st (Solihull) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.970 for Child 1st (Solihull) is calculated as follows: ( (362 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 372 Ratings = 4.97
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Child 1st (Solihull) is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 number of registered child places is 24, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
