Bright Horizons Portswood Day Nursery and Preschool

We have been very impressed with the care our son has received throughout the two years he has been here. He enjoys the various activities on offer and the staff are all compassionate, professional and kind. He has developed very well during his time here.

A fantastic nursery. The staff are very nice. The overall standards are excellent.

Westwood Park Day nursery has provided excellent care and facilities for my daughter from the baby room though to the pre-school room. The staff have been excellent throughout and I have never had concerns about leaving my daughter there. My daughter has become so comfortable there that getting her to leave at the end of the day is challenging!

Amazing. Our daughter has loved being part of Westwood Park and has thrived under the superb care offered. Kind, loving, friendly, supportive and nurturing, we are so pleased we chose here.

Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive to the whole family whilst we have been settling our little boy into nursery here. Nothing has been too difficult. I feel really confident leaving our son here.

We have been attending Westwood Park for settling sessions over a period of 8 weeks and I have found the staff to be extremely supportive in the process and it's clear that they care a great deal about the well-being of my son (and me!) My son has settled well because he has been able to do so gradually and he seems to love the toys and activities on offer.

I have just started nursery settling in my 9.5-month-old baby. The welcoming environment and friendly staff make the process so much easier. My daughter had a lovely time during her first week already. I find it great that we have enough time to get her used to the changes and this gradual process puts my mind at ease. Thank you!

My son loves coming to nursery and does so many great activities.

Since my daughter arrived at Westwood the staff have shown her the most wonderful care and support. She is always happy to come in and always has an enjoyable and stimulating time. I cannot fault the staff's hard work and dedication to our daughter.

We were overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness of our son's keyworker and team when we returned in the new year. We found they had built a space station surrounded by planets in the room. Our son has always struggled with dropping off, although there has been a marked improvement with his new keyworker. Since having this space station our son hasn't cried once. He took an interest in planets about four months ago and recites them over and over. So picking this up and creating the environment to make him more settled, in our opinion very very heart warming and above and beyond. Thank you.

Deciding on this nursery for my little girl was such an easy choice, as working here myself I fully trusted the care and quality of play and learning that my child would receive. The nursery helped my child settle so well and from the beginning, she has always been so excited to come to nursery. She quickly began talking about peers, adults and her speech and singing has come on brilliantly.

My son enjoys the nursery very much, he wants to come every day. Lovely staff and nice environment. I can see a progress and development with my son.

Our experience of Westwood Park has been slightly mixed. When our son first started attending, we were slightly underwhelmed. We rarely ever saw examples of his activities, and the report described him as quiet and shy - not really how he typically behaves.

However, since a recent staff change in his room, we've had a much better experience. Our son now shares things he's made, enjoys the new baking club, and has certainly become more confident and outgoing. The change in quality has been enough to shift our thinking from considering leaving to adding an additional day.

Having decided to move our son from a different nursery, the staff were really engaged in settling him in. During these sessions they identified his love of balloons, so in his first full week, they filled the room with balloons, which was hugely successful in helping him settle in. We continue to be really happy with the whole nursery. The staff are all very friendly and professional, I sense that they work well together, as I know that if we tell one person something about our son, it will be shared with the rest of the team. All the staff seem to know our son well and this makes everything so much easier for us and we are confident that he is well cared for.

One thing: It'd be great if there was some flexibility regarding extra days. It's surely not impossible to swap one day for another, if that suited the parents. If you take a child in on a Tuesday when they are meant to be there on a Wednesday you could then 'sell' that Wednesday slot? It could work.
