Bright Horizons Portswood Day Nursery and Preschool

My child looked forward to going to preschool, which is a testament to the great experience at Bright Horizons, Portswood. The interaction between staff and children is amazing, it is one large family where everyone is treasured and nurtured.

Amazing nursery/pre school! My daughter has become the most intelligent social butterfly. Honestly cant fault them, so many different variety of foods, the staff are so patient and understanding and all just a breath of fresh air. My daughter will miss going as she has now started school.

Could not be more delighted with the experience my three children had during their time with their Bright Horizons family. They formed some incredible relationships with other children and the adult team. Could not have asked for a better foundation to help prepare them for school life.

My daughter went to Bright Horizons, Portswood until August 2022, as we left the country. We were sad to leave. My experience was always positive, not because there were no issues (no place is perfect), but because when there were, the management and the staff were always keen to fix them and to work in a coordinated way, ensuring that actions were taken and that I was satisfied with them. To me, that speaks volumes about the systems in place, the passion and interest the staff places on improving their practices as well as the wellbeing of the kids and the satisfaction of the parents. I'm especially thankful for the work they did to go the extra mile and support my daughter to achieve some milestones, ensuring that certain routines were followed at the centre and that I was receiving feedback on the progress they were observing. Finally, I cannot thank the staff enough for all the love they gave my daughter. I would totally recommend Bright Horizons to anyone I know.

My three children go to Bright Horizons Portswood. The support and care that they receive is 2nd to none. All of the staff work tirelessly to ensure the health and safety of each and every child. When problems have arisen I have been contacted and informed of how they will be prevented or managed going forward. The management team knows each child’s individual needs and are always willing to discuss matters. It is a friendly and nourishing environment, where children are seen as individuals. The nursery has been fundamental in helping my children to gain confidence before they transition into primary school.

Amazing nursery, really helpful to us as parents and really good with my little boy. Great activities for both learning and play, with amazing staff and management. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bright Horizons to anyone.

My son has been attending since he was 9 months old and absolutely loves nursery. He started off in the baby room and is now in toddlers. Being in the military means I miss out on quite a lot, but the nursery team kept me updated by sending reports and catch-ups over email. The only small thing is the current lack of outdoor space while the garden is being re-done, but I know they have been taking them on trips to the duck pond and common.

Excellent nursery and well managed. Our daughter has dietary requirements for which the team respects each and every day and provides us with a written summary detailing how her dietary needs have been met. The nursery not only looks after our child but clearly encourages her development by activities for which we see our daughter developing each week she attends.

I really enjoy interacting with the staff and I can tell that my children are well looked after and fed, and they are learning social and communication skills by being in this environment. Plenty of activities and space to play outside.

They really keep you up to date with day to day stuff and have a great app so they can share pictures with you of your child playing and learning.

My daughter has been going to Bright Horizons Portswood since she was 9 months old (she's 2.5 now) and absolutely loves it. She clearly finds the environment stimulating and I am always taken aback by all the new things she has learned such as; counting, the alphabet and the words to lots of songs. I was a bit apprehensive about sending her to nursery so young, but having done so I have no regrets and since it has helped nurture her to become a very confident and sociable little lady. The managers and the team run the nursery impeccably and have coped outstandingly during the pandemic.

(It is difficult to comment on all the criteria because since the pandemic we cannot go inside.)

All the staff are so thoughtful, warm and attentive in every single aspect, you can see that they care. Also, lovely facilities, clean and safe environment. Positive impression all round, highly recommended!

Both of my children have gone/go to Bright Horizons Portswood. I have been so impressed and thankful for how all the staff have dealt with Covid since they reopened in June 2020, I know how difficult it must have been to learn new ways of working and still keep on smiling. It is hard leaving your child at the door and not being able to go inside like we used to but I know my son is being left in excellent hands. The staff are very caring and my son looks forward to going. I am happy with the communication I receive with regards to emails and communication forms. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work and caring attitude.

Love this nursery, so kind and caring. My daughter absolutely loves coming here and looks forward to her nursery days. The staff are always smiling and the facilities are great, although with Covid-19 it's been a while since we have been inside. I would recommend.

My son goes to Portswood nursery and he’s currently in the 2-3’s room, he started the nursery at 9 months old and has gone through all the rooms, he will soon move into Preschool! He absolutely loves the nursery and the staff there, they have always made such a great effort to get to know him, to look after him so well and to make lots of fun activities that he loves doing! He sometimes asks me on a Sunday if he can go to nursery! The staff are amazing and always seem so passionate about the work they do, nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The management team are the best I’ve ever known, they are friendly, professional and my son adores them! The chef makes amazing food, my son eats so well there and always has. I am so happy I chose this nursery for my son and my daughter will start there this year!

Bright Horizons Portswood has been fantastic for our daughter, and we're very grateful to the manager and her key worker for such great support and care. We began taking our daughter here at just over a year old, and the settling in sessions was terrific, and the nursery has coped very well with the pandemic. The updates have been good, there's a terrific variety of activities, and the food and care have been excellent.

My son attended this nursery full time and has now completed a half term. We had multiple settling in sessions, which was reassuring. Due to the covid pandemic, parents cannot go in with baby for sessions (after the first one) which was a shame but the conversations with the staff on the phone and at drop off/pick up are always very informative. My son has settled in really well and loves the staff, activities, and food. I am very happy we chose it.

I am very pleased with the nursery. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. They are enthusiastic and made myself and my son very welcome. He has settled very well in the short time he has been attending. The nursery itself is very clean, bright and has lots of activities to keep the little ones occupied.

Excellent nursery. The staff are lovely and very professional, and they all demonstrate real care for all the kids. The food is amazing and kids love trying new recipes all the time. The setting is fantastic, with a fabulous garden in the middle of the city. It has really become our children's second home and family. It is a little more expensive than other nurseries in the area but definitely worth the investment!!! Also, their earlier opening and later closing times (7.30am - 6.30pm) have been a life saver for those long working days.
