Maples is a really lovely nursery! Our eldest son has been going for a few years and recently our 2nd has started and they have just been so kind, friendly and supportive. The facilities and garden are really modern and they have recently had a new playground installed which looks amazing! Staff are
really supportive and very good at responding to calls/emails so you always feel informed and confident your child is being well looked after!

The caterpillar team (baby room) have been fantastic in helping our little girl settle in (and settling our nerves!). It's clear she is having plenty of fun, learning and being very well looked after. It's a great friendly team throughout the nursery.

A huge thank you to the team in the caterpillar (baby) room for the level of care and attention they've given my daughter, as she settles into the nursery. The staff at Maples are always incredibly positive and it feels like everyone knows the children very well. It is also lovely to see so many of
the same staff at the nursery as when my son attended a good few years ago.

My one-year-old son has recently started at Maples Nursery and my husband and I have been so impressed with how professional, warm and knowledgeable the nursery staff are. The team in caterpillars room are all incredible and provide regular updates on our son's day, both via the app and also in person
when dropping off and picking him up. The level of care is excellent and has meant that our son is really enjoying being at nursery. As first-time parents, our experience with Maples has really set our minds at ease and we know that this is the best place for our baby.

Maples Day Nursery (Winchester) is a great nursery and our little girl has so much fun in the Caterpillar room. As a 1st time full working mum the thought of leaving your child with strangers can be extremely difficult, but the Caterpillar team could not of made my child feel more welcome and at home!
She loves her 3 day weeks and has become such a confident little girl!

Maples Day Nursery (Winchester) is an absolutely fantastic place to send your children. We have two boys (1 and 4) there and they love it! The staff are fantastic, they are so caring and they really keep track of how your child is doing. They spend so much time outdoors, doing brilliant activities.
The food is really good and balanced. I highly recommend it!

My daughter started at Maples Day Nursery (Winchester) when she was 11 months old. She's been going there for 9 months now and absolutely loves it. They do loads of activities with the children, lots of learning and messy play and outdoor activities. The food is brilliant and really varied, my daughter
usually eats everything there even though she is fussy at home. They have regular activities for the parents to engage with and the staff are all lovely and welcoming. We have been really pleased with all aspects of it and are so happy with our choice.

The staff have been so caring throughout my daughter’s journey (from Ladybirds to Preschool), taking an interest in her interests, and building learning opportunities around them. The parent communication portal is used effectively, emails are answered promptly, and staff provide a comprehensive handover
upon collection. During Covid, effective safeguarding arrangements were in place for nursery staff to call home and check in with the children. Behaviour is managed positively, sensitively, and through a restorative approach. I have witnessed a number of staff managing incidents of behaviour with patience and consistence. The staff go the extra mile - caring for chickens, organising wonderful events (the Jubilee picnic and Halloween events were fantastic), running zoom coffee mornings and following the interests of the children. Thorough monitoring and reporting of children's progress ensures parents are kept up to date with learning goals and targets.

Superb experience for the last 2 years for both our children in various classes. Caring, positive, communicative and most of all, fun. Our children love their time at Maples Day Nursery with the staff, come rain or shine. When our youngest has experienced high temperatures the staff have always shown

Really couldn't be happier with Maples. The staff are friendly, approachable and welcoming. Opening hours are great for working parents (can drop off early and pick up late). Really like that there is a good size outdoor space and an on-site kitchen, a bonus is it's so close to the train station for
my commute.
My daughter loves going and has really bonded well with the staff and kids in her room, making some lovely friendships as well. She has really come out of her shell since she started going. They do lots of creative, messy activities that we could never do with her at home
Highly recommend Maples, a great nursery.

All the staff are fantastic and so friendly. They put your mind at ease when leaving your child for the first time.
My daughter loves going every day and has done since joining in 2020.
The educational activities that they put on are fantastic and they learn so much through play.

I would highly recommend Maples Day Nursery. My 2 grandchildren have been attending for the last couple of months and, thanks to the fabulous efforts of the staff, have settled in really well. The children love going to nursery and have great fun while learning - and their developmental progress is
notable. The facilities and environment further support learning opportunities with ample outdoor space and even some chickens! Alongside fun learning opportunities, they are also very charitably motivated as evidenced by recent Guy Fawkes celebrations. Overall a highly recommended nursery thanks to strong leadership, enthusiastic and caring staff and a fantastic learning environment.

My son (15 months old) attends Maples full time and we absolutely love the nursery and the staff. The carers in his room are so friendly and enthusiastic and I get the impression that they are passionate about their jobs and developing my child. Recently, they have supported him in developing his language
skills and building his confidence in walking. I get regular updates on what he is up to throughout the day through the app, and since the new team leader has started in his room we’ve also been getting more updates on what activities they have in the room each day which I love receiving.
My son is happy to go over to whoever greets us in the morning and is always smiling and happy when I pick him up, giving me peace of mind that he’s thoroughly enjoying himself all day! He also loves the food at nursery as I often get informed that he’s had seconds! Thank you Maples for all that you do for my son, I’m so pleased we picked your nursery and would recommend you to anyone without hesitation.

Maples Day Nursery is an excellent nursery! All the staff care about the wellbeing of the children in their care and my daughter has settled in so well. The long opening hours are fantastic for working parents, and there is an on-site kitchen that easily caters to dietary requirements.
We sent our
older child here and were so happy with everything, we didn't hesitate to send our second child. Despite her being a clingy, shy and quiet child she has really blossomed in the environment and seems to have bonded really well with the staff and children, settling into the routine quickly and happily.
There is a great outdoor space with lots to explore and play with - they even have chickens in the garden! This is a real advantage being a city-based nursery, close to the train station.
Highly recommend Maples. It's a brilliant learning environment.

We really like Maples. Our son has been going for nearly 3 years and our daughter started this year. She was a lockdown baby so we were concerned about how she would find mixing with others, but thanks to the incredibly friendly staff, she is thriving. They send lots of photos and updates so we can
see how she is getting on. They seem to genuinely care for the children, and my daughter loves it there.

I’m really happy with Maples Day Nursery (Winchester). The things that appealed to me initially were the practical points - long opening hours, close to the station. Now that we’re settled there, I’m very happy with the choice I made for my child. The staff are really caring and show genuine affection
for the children. They are also great at teaching them the right values and encouraging their independence. There is a lot of outdoor play in the garden and my child loves the resident chickens and hamster. The staff are very approachable and happy to discuss any worries or concerns you may have. You get regular progress updates on the app. The staff also work really hard at raising money for charity. It’s a lovely atmosphere there.

Maples is an excellent nursery! Our oldest started here when he was 2 (moved from another nursery) and our youngest started in the babies room and is now in bumblebees (2-3) so we have experienced every age group room. We have found the staff to be consistently excellent across the nursery, very tuned
in to our children’s needs and highly creative in the activities. The garden has been recently upgraded and is a lovely space. During the pandemic, Maples has been very supportive and careful in their practices so we always felt comfortable sending our child even during the second lockdown. Most importantly both our children loved and still love going to nursery and as parents, we really trust the staff and management.

Love this nursery! My son has been there since he was six months old and he is now almost three. I have no complaints at all. All the staff are lovely, they are so creative with all the activities they do. Great big garden with chickens. The food is fantastic! Everyone is professional and any questions
I have are answered quickly. My son is always happy to go. Would highly recommend!

We couldn't recommend Maples highly enough! They have wonderfully supported us and our daughter through our journey from starting out in the new world of childcare (which can seem very daunting after maternity leave!) to her growing and learning as a toddler. Their staff are wonderful, and we trust
each and every one of them to provide the same level of care and attention we give our child ourselves. Their range of activities are the type that we just couldn't organise at home! With loads of messy play, education at the right level, and importantly lots of cuddles and love when the children need it too. We feel Maples has been excellent in their handling of the Covid pandemic, with lots of stringent protocol and procedures to keep everyone safe, whilst not scaring the children. Thank you again to everyone at Maples, we are very grateful for everything you do for us and our daughter!

Alex is Manager at Maples Day Nursery in Winchester and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for over 20 years and with an MA in advanced Practice Early Years. Alex joined Childbase Partnership in 2024 after being in a regional role for another large chain nursery company.


What is your favourite feature of Maples?
We are so lucky as a inner city nursery to have such a large and varied outdoor space with lots of exciting opportunities to explore lifecycles and growth in the natural world.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I'm most proud about the enthusiasm and professionalism shown by the staff team. Everyone has a drive towards providing the best possible experience for our families and goes above and beyond to extol the Childbase values.
