Our son started at Maples in April, and as first-time parents, we were understandably nervous about leaving him for the first time. However, the entire team at Maples has been exceptional in supporting us through this transition and in their daily care of him.
Three members of staff in particular and
the rest of the Caterpillar team made the settling-in period as smooth as possible, which made a world of difference for us. It's wonderful to see the strong bond our son has developed not only with his key workers but with the entire team - it's a testament to their dedication and hard work.
We appreciate the regular updates we receive via the app, as well as insights into his progress against learning framework indicators. Our son enjoys the food and all the varied activities he participates in. He also loves the outdoor space.
We can't thank you enough for the exceptional care you provide. It means so much to us!

Our daugher has been at Maples for a year now and has consistently loved being there! She has such a good time and always greets us with a big smile when we collect her - a testament to a great day. She's well-fed, spends time outside and inside around fun and interesting toys/activities and has made
friendships with the other kiddies which is heartwarming to see.
She's in her second room (Ladybirds) and has shown consistent development throughout. Her personal interaction inside and outside of the nursery is fantastic. While the food/building/etc are all great it all really comes down to the people - the staff are absolutely fantastic. Her key carer takes such good care of her and we can see the affectionate bond between them so easily (not to mention her being asked for over the weekend!) and she will jump into the arms of any of her carers which only comes with trust and happiness (and perhaps mention of breakfast).
We really couldn't imagine a better place for our daughter to go to nursery.

We have been really encouraged by how dedicated Maples have been in supporting our son. I really feel he has been gently nurtured to feel comfortable and secure in his relationships with his key worker and other members of the team and this is developing to help him form friendships and feel confident
in accessing the many well-planned activities. They really know him and encourage him to use his favourite area of the garden very often! An enormous thank you from us!

The staff are amazing at Maples, and it is our daughter's favourite days of the week! She is learning so much every week, including Makaton. She especially loves going to the outside spaces to play.

Both our sons are in Maples part time in both the Ladybird room and the preschool, they couldn't be happier! Food cooked on site that's healthy, friendly knowledgeable and caring staff. The rooms and outdoor spaces are hard to beat locally. Our boys settled very easily thereafter we relocated to Winchester.
Highly recommend.

I love Maples! Honestly can’t recommend this nursery enough!
We have two children here, one in caterpillars (baby room) and one in preschool.
Dropping your children off for the first time is never easy, but the team really get to know your baby/child before they start. We had a number of settling-in
sessions that were completely flexible to ensure a smooth transition. The love care and fun they have is just amazing and the food! The menu and variety are great and all are included which is fantastic.
Spacious rooms, great outdoor space, chickens! What more could you want.

I have two sons in the nursery, with my youngest son starting in the Caterpillar room in September 2023. Since he joined, the team have worked their hardest to ensure that he has settled well into the nursery setting. As a result, he has built strong relationships with those in the room and is happy
to go to nursery. It is extremely reassuring to know that your child is being looked after by people who genuinely enjoy their job and working with children. Seeing them get just as excited as me when my child reaches a milestone or hearing them excitedly tell you about the excellent day they have had certainly confirms that he is in the right place. It is wonderful to see the strong relationships my son has with them, which is down to their hard work, kindness, and commitment to their roles. For that, I am extremely grateful.

“Thank you”, that goes to out to everyone in the team both past and present who have been a huge part of my daughter's journey at Maples. From the day she started in Ladybirds, to her last day in Preschool, everyone has welcomed her into what is not only their work day but their hearts. The team at
Maples is truly exceptional and every one of you should be proud of the amazing little girl you have all created on our behalf. As a lot of you are aware, she has no idea she is not returning when she leaves on Thursday and that the goodbye that she gives is not the goodbye she wants. As she wakes up Friday morning not knowing why she has no Preschool today. A long weekend?? then Preschool maybe. But instead, she leaves on to her next journey to make her new friends and continue to touch the hearts of her caregivers as she has touched yours. It will be sad for us to hear “the door is open” as it closes behind us one last time. So again from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Best wishes.

Maples has been fantastic the past four years of my child's attendance.
Even during the pandemic, they worked so hard to support us families.

The pre-school room at Maples is a large but incredibly nurturing environment, where the staff provide such understanding and care to all those who attend. The food is also thought through and healthy whilst being attractive to young kids. The admin is also organised and there is always someone to contact.

Our daughter graduated today from Maples, she is starting Reception in September. We also have a son in Maples. Both of them started when they were less than one year old. This means that our daughter experienced all of the rooms.
Our overall experience has been excellent. Staff is really good and
we couldn't be happier with them and how they treat our children. The curriculum is very child-focused and is particularly strong on values. Over the years, our children's key people have been phenomenal - you can see they really live and breathe their jobs. We always liked that the nursery has a very big outside area and the children spend quite a lot of time there. They seem to have a very good grasp of the developmental needs of children and communication with parents, either through the app or by conversations at pick-up and drop-off, is really informative. We couldn't be happier.

Our daughter started at Maples in January when she was a year old. It was a difficult transition for us all and we were the typical nervous first time parents. The staff really helped our little one settle in, and though there were some slight teething and technical issues at the beginning, made sure
we were kept up to date and most importantly gave our little girl the cuddles and attention she needed. She is now thriving, and happily potters off in the morning to see her friends and the lovely staff. It’s great knowing she gets a healthy, balanced diet and plenty of opportunity to play outside, which she loves. It’s wonderful hearing how she is getting on, and she is learning so much while she is there. We were recommended Maples by multiple friends, and now recommend it ourselves.

I could not be happier with the love, attention and care that Maples give my little boy. His key person is always there to greet him when he arrives so he almost never gets upset going in and he has the best day ever whilst he's there - I can tell, because he never wants to leave! I have to chase him
around the room to try to get him out of there at the end of the day. He has been at Maples since 7 months old and is now almost 2 and we absolutely love the staff. They are always so caring and lovely - they go out of their way to make sure that we feel supported at Maples. The food always sounds (and smells) great and is very varied and the admin staff and managers are also very good and communicative. Overall, we are so pleased we joined the Maples family!

Alex is Manager at Maples Day Nursery in Winchester and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for over 20 years and with an MA in advanced Practice Early Years. Alex joined Childbase Partnership in 2024 after being in a regional role for another large chain nursery company.


What is your favourite feature of Maples?
We are so lucky as a inner city nursery to have such a large and varied outdoor space with lots of exciting opportunities to explore lifecycles and growth in the natural world.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I'm most proud about the enthusiasm and professionalism shown by the staff team. Everyone has a drive towards providing the best possible experience for our families and goes above and beyond to extol the Childbase values.
