Woodberry Day Nursery is a substantial property, converted to create an 86 place day nursery of the highest quality.

Much of the character has been retained to provide spacious and interesting rooms with first class childcare facilities. The staff are experienced and well qualified ensuring Woodberry is a happy, sociable environment where every child is treated as an individual. They have also obtained their Green Flag Eco-Schools Award.

Woodberry has been designed with four main playrooms with additional sleeping and play areas. Outside there is a fully enclosed and attractively laid out garden. The environment gives children the opportunity to both learn and play in secure surroundings.

Woodberry also offer the extracurricular activity of Debutots every 2 weeks on a Monday between 10-11am for the Ladybirds and Bumblebees room. As well as this, they offer the Preschool room Kidslingo every 2 weeks on a Friday between 10- 11am, and a tennis coach who attends every 2 weeks on a Thursday afternoon.

My daughter started in October. We were slightly nervous given the covid situation and that we were unable to come in and settle her in the way we would usually be able to but the staff, especially all the ladies in the Bumblebee room have been amazing and taken their time to keep us updated and get
to know our little one. The settling has been so much easier than we expected and she comes home excited to tell us about her day. For a child who was a little shy particularly not having seen many people through lockdown, this has been so reassuring. I love the daily updates and photos, and meal updates. Overall would really recommend. Thank you to the team.

Our son has just left the Woodberry Preschool room, and we have nothing but praise for the experience we had at Woodberry. Our son was there just over a year, in the preschool room, and had a great experience. The staff are caring and fun, and create a lovely environment for the kids to firstly enjoy
themselves and secondly do a bit of learning. The activities and facilities are great, with lots of variety, and the feedback on the kids was thorough and well done. In a difficult year (COVID), the nursery provided excellent care, and we were fully confident in their ability to set in place the necessary policies to protect the staff and the children as best they could. And we also found them very understanding of our change of circumstances and needs for our son's care. In short, we're on the waiting list for the preschool room for our younger son, and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone else as well.

Woodberry has been fabulous for all three of my children, but the unbelievable care and attention shown to the children once they were allowed back after covid was a testament to how much the staff love the kids and how at home the children feel. My own daughter (3) was away for four months, yet her
excitement to return to nursery was infectious. She was begging to be back with her key worker and friends. The plan in place at pick up and drop off feels so well thought out and safe that my child forgot to say goodbye to me on the first day back!
I’ve been sending children to Woodberry for 14-years and have avoided mum guilt by knowing the kids are happy and secure with staff who care, some of the staff know all my kids, and that level of loyalty from staff is unheard of amongst my friends and other kids at nursery.
I would advise anyone looking for a nursery to use Woodberry.

I would not hesitate to recommend Woodberry Nursery in Winchmore Hill to anyone. As a first time mum, when our son started there just after he turned one last August, I was full of guilt and anxiety. The team couldn’t have been kinder or more understanding of all of us.
Our son loves it there, and
although there are lots of wonderful things about it (food, facilities, activities etc), the best thing is the people. My son has developed a really close and reciprocal bond with his key worker. This continued all through lockdown and the nearly 3-months where he was unable to attend nursery (missed by us all!) meaning that the transition back was much smoother than expected.
The nursery’s communication with parents has been excellent throughout, and the whole team’s attitude and approach have been great.

Our son loves Woodberry, he joined the pre-school room just before he turned 3 and the staff there helped him settle in. He has developed a close relationship with his key worker and adores all the staff. The staff are so caring, always a smile to greet my son and as a parent this is really important
knowing your child is going into a caring loving environment. The variety of activities that he does is great, he is coming on so well in his development and skills. The facilities are good, a nice garden area for the children to run around in. Having the parent portal is great to keep updated with what he is up to and communication with the team is regular. It’s nice to add what we do at home in there as well. Joining home life with nursery.
Finally, our son has attended throughout the pandemic and we were so impressed with how everything kept going and reassured us that he was in the best environment. We are very grateful to the whole team for what they do.

Woodberry came to our rescue during the height of the pandemic, offering us 5 full days of child care for our 14-month-old son whilst I continued to work full time at my hospital.
We were so impressed by how fast our son settled and made friends with the staff.
He loves it there so much that we
asked if he could stay after they opened to all their previous children.
Our son continues to thrive under their care. They provide a rich and varied experience through both structured and unstructured play whilst maintaining a lovely caring and safe environment.
We wholeheartedly recommend them for early years care.

Our daughter loves going to nursery, she loves being outside on bikes or water play or activity course.
She comes home singing rhymes that I know I haven’t taught her and there are many of her favourite books at nursery.
Staff from every room know her by name and she has formed bonds so that when
her key workers are not there she is fine.
She usually eats everything from the diverse menu.
Management sends very clear regular communication and are excellent listeners.
Cleaning and hygiene have been prioritised and this is very reassuring.
I feel confident that she is safe and extremely well cared for.
Thank you to everyone for continuing the excellent service during this challenging time, it is much appreciated.

Our two-year-old son has been attending Woodberry for 1.5 years. He quickly settled in and is now in the second-youngest room. He continues to absolutely love it. As we approach nursery, he often eagerly shouts "yay! Nursery!" This is down to a mix of (a) an interesting learning environment and varied
mix of activities, and (b) more importantly, the caring and engaging staff members who genuinely love their jobs and provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for him to grow into his own personality, learn new skills and generally be very happy. While all the staff are excellent, it would not be fair to complete this review without mentioning our son's keyworker. She cares for Hamish as if he were one of her own - our parent guilt disappeared when we saw how well they get on together. She really understands his personality and provides a learning experience that works for him.
One final note on the food - it is fantastic. The children here eat better than we do!

A fantastic nursery. We could not be happier to have our daughter attend. The staff are first class. The property is excellent. The food is varied and well prepared. Attention is paid to dietary and other needs. The nursery has a real sense of community. As a parent, I enjoy being there and seeing my
daughter and her friends thrive. I whole-heartedly recommend the nursery, mainly for the experience and kindness of the staff, but also for the sense of community so important in our busy everyday lives. Well done all!

My 2-year-old has been going to Woodberry for the last 18 months and I have to say our lives would be very different without the loving care she receives there. My daughter has always been quite needy of us meaning we were initially apprehensive about putting her in a totally different environment away
from us - the management, her key worker and the staff totally understood this and worked with us to create a transitional plan that worked brilliantly - she is now becoming much more confident as a result.
Day to day the children are exposed to a wide range of activities (hockey was a recent hit!), different meals three times a day (delicious stuff she wouldn't dream of eating at home) and form crucial social skills with the other children and key workers, it's always a pleasure to hear from her what a lovely day she's had.

I have three children, all of whom have attended Woodberry Day Nursery. It’s been a big part of our family’s lives since 2015 and in that time it has gone from a good nursery to a brilliant one in my opinion.
Our children have all thrived here and really enjoy/ed their time at nursery.
Each room
is really attuned to the ages and stages of the children, and the staff are caring, compassionate and highly skilled. They really take the time to get to know the children and bring them out of themselves by offering activities which interest them. I know my children have loved the variety of activities offered.
My daughter is in the pre-school room and is exposed to so many wonders about the world, it’s great to hear her come home and sing about planets or tell me all about penguins!
The management and office staff are also really nice to deal with, sort out queries efficiently and nothing is too much effort.
Last but certainly not least: the food- they love it!

Words cannot describe how amazing this nursery is. The staff have been part of both my children’s lives since 18 months and my eldest is 5. It’s Woodberry I have to thank for most of their learning, skills and development. The most friendly and caring staff ever and the facilities have always been outstanding.
A massive part of my heart will be left there and a great memory I’ll carry forward.

My daughter joined the Woodberry in January this year. The transition from one nursery to another was hard for her, but all the staff in the Bumble Bee room really helped her to settle, especially her key worker. She has come along amazingly in her development and loves the outdoor space. Every day

My daughter was in the Caterpillar room for seven months. Her key worker and team were very supportive as she settled in and she soon felt happy being dropped off.
Her days at Woodberry were always stimulating and fun and she tried new activities.
Her key worker was very attentive to her changing
needs as she moved from being an infant to a toddler.
We only left the nursery as we moved from the area, otherwise, I would have happily kept her at Woodberry through until school.

My daughter has been attending Woodberry for the last two years, in the pre-school room. She has been so happy at the nursery and made some wonderful friends among both children and staff which is reflective of the supportive and loving environment of the nursery. All staff are friendly and take a real
interest in your child’s development and wellbeing. During her time at the nursery, and in particular in the last year, her confidence and social skills have grown. I have been really impressed with the way the children have been introduced to phonics and the school readiness generally. I know she will miss all the nursery staff greatly when she goes to school but is already talking about “popping in to say hello”.

My three children have all attended Woodberry since they were 1. My youngest is now in the preschool room. The nursery has gone from strength to strength. The staff are engaged and caring. The activities are age appropriate, interesting and fun. Since going into the preschool room, my daughter is being
supported to develop the skills she needs for school. It has been lovely to see how happy she is there and to watch her grow and develop.

Laura is the Nursery Manager at Woodberry Day Nursery in Winchmore Hill. She has worked with Childbase for just over eight years, gaining experience across both Hertford-based nurseries. Laura holds a Level Six qualification in Early Years and has held roles including Team Lead and, most recently, Deputy Manager, bringing a wealth of expertise to her current role.


What is your favourite feature of Woodberry?
My favourite feature of our nursery is our beautiful rooms, which all celebrate the uniqueness of not only the children, families, but also the staff who work within the setting.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
I am most proud of how my team continues to provide excellent childcare every day.
