Brinds Well Day Nursery in Orpington provides children with a warm and welcoming learning environment where highly trained practitioners promote child-led interests and play.

The fantastic, fully equipped, large garden area offers children a range of outdoor learning experiences and is used in all weathers and seasons. This helps to support children's social, emotional and physical development.

For extra-curricular activities, they currently offer Pro-stars every Wednesday for preschool children. Additionally, every Friday, Caterpillars, Ladybirds, and Bumblebees enjoy Mandarin singing sessions, led by a dedicated music teacher. He customises each session to align with the children’s current interests.

They are located close to the train station, open 7.30-6.30 and are fully-inclusive offering a convenient service to parents.

Brinds Well, is a parent's dream. We have two daughters there currently and both are thriving. From the very first settle sessions, the key workers developed great bonds with our daughters and alleviated any fears I had. The staff are what really makes this nursery special. Everyone is kind, friendly
and supportive of the children. It still amazes me that so many staff members know our daughter's names and chats to them when they see them. They make the children feel safe and give parents peace of mind. Our eldest daughter has flourished in her new room and can't wait to tell me about all her friends and the activities they've been doing. Her speech has come on leaps and bounds. The outside space is fantastic and the children are encouraged to play outside, daily. The nursery manager makes you feel like part of the family and is always on hand if you need her. I would wholeheartedly recommend Brinds Well to any parent and couldn't think of a better setting for our children to be in.

My son started here in the end of August, this year and I am surprised how quickly he adapted to the new environment. He absolutely loves going to nursery and looks forward to every day. The staff is lovely and caring, my son adores them all. He talks about them, even at home. It makes me very happy
to see how happy and content he is at Brindswell. I would not look anywhere else.

I can honestly say that Brinds Well Nursery is every mother's dream. The staff are so lovely, so caring and so professional. My son joined in August 2022 with severe speech delays at 2.5 years old and straight away the staff ensured we worked together as a team to help his speech and everyone in the
family has commented over the huge improvement and how much happier our son is, in this healthy and constructive setting. I know my son is safe, having fun and is developing well with the care and devotion of the whole Brinds Well team.

My two daughters have gone to Brinds Well Day Nursery Orpington and my youngest is due to leave in August. The manager there is brilliant and the kids adore her. The rooms are really spacious and there is so much outdoor space; with outdoor play encouraged. I couldn’t recommend this nursery more.

My daughter is always talking about what she has been doing at 'school' and what her teachers have done with her. She is always coming out with words and sounds, numbers and letters she has been learning about. The nursery have been very accommodating towards our individual circumstances as well.

My daughter has come on in leaps and bounds since being at Brinds Well. The staff go above and beyond to put parents at ease, even calling when my daughter wasn't in to check in when she has been unwell. We will miss it so much in September when she starts school! Thank you!

We began with Brinds Well in October 2014 and when I was due with my second child, there was nowhere else we even considered viewing. The nursery is so bright and spacious and the rooms are well organised and clean
The outside space is second to none and the variety of activities available to them
is vast.
The staff are fantastic, so friendly and nurturing, my children have loved it here and always look forward to attending ... and don't want to leave!
The learning is great, not only educational but also in everyday lives, preparing them for the next steps and the world around them. I can't recommend Brinds Well highly enough, we'll be sad to leave this summer.

This is an amazing nursery. My daughter really enjoyed her time there. We could see her development every day when she was at the nursery. Staff are very friendly and professional. The development framework is very comprehensive including physical activity, language skills etc. The nursery also has

This is my second child at this nursery and sincerely, they just keep getting better and better. The staff are enthusiastic and welcoming, my daughter has to be dragged home at the end of the day! The leadership are easy to speak with and during and after all the lockdowns, they have done their best
to support parents. Thoroughly recommend this nursery. My daughter is thriving and Brinds Well definitely has a huge part to play in this.

This is an absolutely lovely nursery. My son has enjoyed it since day one, always smiling when I bring him in. The staff are lovely and take lots of photos of the various activities children do. The facilities are also amazing with lovely garden space. Would recommend to anyone.

My son attended the nursery for nearly 3 years and my daughter joined when she was only 10 months and our experience with the nursery has been amazing. Both my children have flourished, became very independent and learned a lot. The staff are very caring they know the children very well and monitor
their development throughout. One of the reasons we picked this nursery was the grounds, the outdoor space that the children get to play and explore in is wonderful, from the playground to climbing frames.

Our son has had a wonderful time developing and growing under the care of the Ladybirds staff, in particular his keyworker.
All the staff at the nursery have been wonderful from the moment I looked around, to the helpful front of house staff, all the lovely carers in the rooms not to mention the kitchen
staff who provide the children with wonderful home-cooked meals every day.
We are sad to be moving on from the nursery as we are moving and only wish our son had had a bit more time there.

Our 4-year-old daughter absolutely loves the nursery but more importantly, for us, the staff and ethos of the place completely aligns with our parenting style which is to teach her independence, good decision making, inclusion and respect. In addition, the kids are outside as much as possible, no matter
the weather, which is really important to us. The nursery has a huge garden and lots of sensory activities are done outside. Each week the staff design activities around specific themes, which teaches the kids about the world they live in, be that focused on nature, recycling, science or race, and culture. In preschool, they have also been doing a lot of “school ready” activities such as numbers and letters as well as using a computer. More importantly, they’ve also been speaking to my daughter about school life, including very practical things like lunch boxes.

The staff have gone above and beyond to help settle my son into nursery (this was especially hard after being in lockdown). I receive lovely photos of him taking part in activities and the regular assessments show how my son is progressing. The staff's knowledge always amazes me and I am always grateful
for their advise. On top of all that, we are always greeted with a smile and a friendly face.

I have only good words to say about Brinds Well!
My son joined from 1 years old to pre-school and he absolutely loved it and so did we!
We were so happy with Brinds Well, when I had my daughter I couldn’t bear the thought of her going anywhere else, she is now there and is extremely happy, she loves
her key worker and so do we!
The care and attention that goes into the children is a huge relief and peace of mind for me.

My daughter has been at Brindswell for just over four months and I have been so impressed with their service from the beginning. She had plenty of settling in sessions over two months prior to her joining which made the transition really smooth. The relationships the staff have built with my daughter
over the last few months have been wonderful, she is genuinely excited to see them in the morning and they have clearly invested time in understanding her interests and then regularly tailor activities to these to engage her. I have been so impressed with the staff's use of sign language to communicate with my daughter and I can see the confidence this has built in her. The team have also been brilliant at managing her milk allergy and the food menu is always varied. The room is always well presented and inviting. Communication around and management of coronavirus updates have always been timely and informative. Thank you to all staff, it’s wonderful to know my daughter is in such good hands.

My son started at Brinds Well in Nov 2020 at the age of 2 after we decided to change him from another nursery. The staff have been fantastic throughout the whole process. He has had no trouble settling in, even though he is not the most confident child, which we put down to how attentive the staff are
to his needs. He used to cry and cling to me and drop-offs at his old setting but we have had no trouble with this at Brinds Well and he looks forward to his nursery days, which is such a relief that I don’t have to worry about him whilst at work. The food menu is fantastic- lots of healthy food. The activities they do at the nursery are very varied (lots of sensory, Montessori) and we are kept up to date through the parent zone app. You get a weekly newsletter to keep you updated with what your child’s group has been learning that week. The outside space was important to us and Brinds Well does not disappoint- children can explore as they wish and includes lots of natural resources.

Vanessa Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2013

Vanessa is the Manager of Brinds Well Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 11 years.


She has numerous qualifications, including Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Leadership Level 5 Leadership for Children and Young People’s Workforce and First Aid training.


Vanessa is also the designated safeguarding lead for the nursery and is fully trained in Level 2 Makaton signing.


She has worked for Childbase Partnership for 8 years.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
The outdoor space; we are very lucky that each room has its own garden and outdoor area. Each garden is unique and really supports children's learning experiences.


Outdoor learning is shown to inspire our children and help them connect with nature. We are lucky with our surroundings, it is very calm and quiet and we hear lots of different birds tweeting throughout the day.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The passion, commitment and knowledge they give on a daily basis. They give 110% all day, every day and the care they provide to their children and families is outstanding. Every child is unique but the key person will know each individual child fully. They will support their development and well-being through their amazing relationships. During COVID this did not stop, with the home learning we gave to our families from daily videos of our practitioners reading a story to singing and phonic lessons. Practitioners sent activity ideas to support the families at home, whilst my chef was doing cooking lessons once a week with the children virtually. The care, love and support do not stop here at Brinds Well.
