Brinds Well Day Nursery in Orpington provides children with a warm and welcoming learning environment where highly trained practitioners promote child-led interests and play.

The fantastic, fully equipped, large garden area offers children a range of outdoor learning experiences and is used in all weathers and seasons. This helps to support children's social, emotional and physical development.

For extra-curricular activities, they currently offer Pro-stars every Wednesday for preschool children. Additionally, every Friday, Caterpillars, Ladybirds, and Bumblebees enjoy Mandarin singing sessions, led by a dedicated music teacher. He customises each session to align with the children’s current interests.

They are located close to the train station, open 7.30-6.30 and are fully-inclusive offering a convenient service to parents.

The staff at Caterpillar room go out of their way to make babies happy and comfortable. They really bonded with our boy and gave him the love and support when he needed it. Our son learnt a lot of new textures, songs, words and moves. He particularly enjoyed the painting sessions and messy plays, playing
outdoors, singing, dancing and just being with his new friends. The atmosphere in the room is very friendly and supportive, diet is rich on nutrition and healthy drinking regime encouraged. Overall very satisfied with the room and the staff.

My son really enjoys the room he is currently in, he gets on very well with all the staff and often refers to them outside the nursery. The girls all genuinely seem to like my son and are always going and playing with him, as a parent this is very important to me. The girls encourage his learning and
have supported us during potty training, removal of the dummy!
My husband and I think the girls in bumblebees 2 are brilliant and an asset to your company.

All the staff in the pre-school room are helpful, caring, well presented, informative and friendly. They cater for my child's needs and development. I know that when I take my child to pre-school she will be looked after and cared for by the staff. The management and admin staff are also very professional
and helpful.

My son is adopted and has been going to this nursery for almost a year. Due to his medical background he was behind with his speech. He has improved so much since going to this nursery, that we want to put him in for 3 days a week instead of 2. He no longer needs speech therapy. Staff are very attentive,
they notice something out of the ordinary such as him having blue lips, help with medical referrals and give him extra one on one time, so he develops to his full potential. He absolutely loves the nursery. Big bonus is the great parking facilities and the great rural location.

My eldest son has been having some anger issues, which although not spilling over into his nursery life, were causing problems at home. I had put things in place at home to try and deal with the issue, but with some help from his room leader and advice from a senior staff member we have definitely improved
his behaviour. I feel they went above and beyond to help me and I'm very grateful, sometimes you just need to be told you are doing a good job!

Our 1 year old daughter has recently joined the baby room at Brindswell. The staff have been excellent in helping her to settle at the nursery very quickly.
The room is lovely and spacious with lots of great activities, toys and the food menu is excellent.
I am very pleased we picked Brindswell
and so far it has exceeded all of my expectations.

Since my daughter has joined the nursery, I have been so impressed by the staff who are excellent with the children. Different activities are set up each day which look fabulous. Several times my daughter has come home with various creative objects, which again the ideas are great. She loves attending
and must be getting so much out of this experience both in interacting with others and learning.

The welcome when I drop my child off in the morning's is great. I have a daughter who is quite clingy, they always make me feel better when they take her and she is crying, they talk to her and get her involved in activities. The feedback at the end of the day is full of information and my child also
tells me the same information. They take on board any requests I make for learning or what she has interests in, they are all very accommodating for the different situations that have occurred! Food is great often having 2 lots or more!

Our second child is now going through Brinds Well which in itself says we are happy. The staff are great, the only reason I rated the staff 'good' instead of 'excellent' is because there seems to be a high turnaround which can be a bit unsettling. Our children always seem comfortable which is the true
barometer.

I am extremely happy with the day care that is provided for my precious daughter. The time that the staff afford me when I collect her at 6.15 pm five days a week is always generous, If I require, when telling me what she has eaten and been up to that day. She loves the staff and when required I've
seen her comforted by them (usually when dropping her off in the mornings if she's rarely upset) which instantly pacifies her and me! The food is both varied and nutritious and my daughter is very capable of serving herself. In fact compared to the children of friends and family who's children aren't in day care. She is very obviously more advanced in her speech, awareness, play and general manner. This is thanks to Brinds Well. I am very happy with Brinds Well. The facilities, management and staff!

Vanessa Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2013

Vanessa is the Manager of Brinds Well Day Nursery and has a wealth of experience, having worked in the early years sector for 11 years.


She has numerous qualifications, including Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Leadership Level 5 Leadership for Children and Young People’s Workforce and First Aid training.


Vanessa is also the designated safeguarding lead for the nursery and is fully trained in Level 2 Makaton signing.


She has worked for Childbase Partnership for 8 years.


What is your favourite feature of your nursery?
The outdoor space; we are very lucky that each room has its own garden and outdoor area. Each garden is unique and really supports children's learning experiences.


Outdoor learning is shown to inspire our children and help them connect with nature. We are lucky with our surroundings, it is very calm and quiet and we hear lots of different birds tweeting throughout the day.


What are you most proud of about your nursery/team?
The passion, commitment and knowledge they give on a daily basis. They give 110% all day, every day and the care they provide to their children and families is outstanding. Every child is unique but the key person will know each individual child fully. They will support their development and well-being through their amazing relationships. During COVID this did not stop, with the home learning we gave to our families from daily videos of our practitioners reading a story to singing and phonic lessons. Practitioners sent activity ideas to support the families at home, whilst my chef was doing cooking lessons once a week with the children virtually. The care, love and support do not stop here at Brinds Well.
