Welcome to Bright Horizons Kingston Victoria Road Day Nursery and Preschool. They provide high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery is ideally located between Kingston and Norbiton stations and within walking distance of Kingston town centre and local bus routes. There is on-site parking available too.

The nursery is set in a purpose-designed beautifully spacious building and has a large, recently refurbished garden that can be accessed throughout the year. There is a sensory room for under two’s, and a fully equipped art studio where children are able to explore different mediums in process and skills-based art, sometimes studying well-known artists and their techniques.

The preschool science lab and IT studio with interactive whiteboard helps children to prepare for school using their chosen literacy and numeracy programs. Bright Horizons runs growing enhancement programs as part of their nursery day which includes Growing Readers, Growing Writers and Growing Mathematicians. An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff, including a Nursery Teacher, plan exciting and engaging activities to stretch the children’s learning and development, always following their interests.

The delicious healthy and nutritious food, sourced from trusted suppliers, is prepared and cooked on-site by their chef who has a 5* EHO rating for food safety and hygiene. Their menus change seasonally and cater for all dietary requirements.

The staff is great and my baby loves them. The food and activities are very good too. I am concerned about the yearly fee increases (5% this year for 2018, 3% the previous year) which is not justified and puts enormous pressure on parents like us.

Excellent, caring, helpful services and very friendly. My son is just over 3 years old and has never attended nursery before he started at Active Learning. The staff made him feel right at home and he settled very quickly. He started full time immediately and he is very happy and enjoys Active Learning
very much and this is due to the amazing staff and Active Learning as a whole.

Active Learning Kingston (Surrey) has been a welcoming, caring, fun and educational nursery for my now 3-year-old to be part of the past 1.5 years. He has now graduated to the preschool class and has loved every teacher and mentor along the way. We really cannot say enough good things about Active
Learning, I have recommended it to multiple people since we began here in 2016. There is such an eclectic mix of classes and activities-sports, music, art, ballet, French class....all taught by enthusiastic teachers who manage to capture tiny attention spans. One of the biggest reasons we went with Active Learning after touring many other nurseries was this varied schedule of activity and education. It's also obvious from each room in Active Learning that learning is a hands-on and colourful affair. There are many rooms within Active Learning which was another huge draw for us...our son has never spent his day in just one room. The teachers and staff are exceptional, I am always confident I'm leaving my son with people who truly care about him.

All the staff have been wonderful and the help and support for my daughter's speech development have been exceptional.
I am delighted I picked Active Learning and my daughter loves it here. Highly recommended.
Not the cheapest you'll find, but I consider it money well spent.

The nursery has a lovely space to work with and their garden is fantastic for all kids to play outside without feeling cramped. Activities are engaging and involves all the children. This is a safe environment and we appreciate the security provided for children.

This nursery is a perfect size, not too small, not too big so they can provide a very stimulative yet nurturing environment. I like the fact that they have different rooms for different activities that the children can move to during the day and the daily program is clearly established (i.e. music lessons,
sensory room, etc). They have a large patio that although does not have grass (that is one of my few regrets), has plenty of activities for the different ages and they do allow the kids to spend as much time outside as the weather permits.
So far all the nurses and the manager have been very nice and responsible. I can see how my child quickly established a connection with them so it tells me they look after her well.
Finally, I can see my child making big progress in her skills overall.

My son started at Active Learning last September on his 1st birthday. The staff were brilliant at settling him in, and also reassuring me that it would all be fine. As they predicted, he settled in after around 3 weeks and soon loved going into nursery. He has bonded well with the staff and the other
children. He recently moved up to "Jumblies" where he has continued to flourish. The room leader does a great job of encouraging him and giving great updates at the end of each day.
The staff have also given me great advice when it has come to kicking bad habits (throwing food on the floor for example) and how to entertain and encourage him in his play and development. The staff and management act in a professional manner when required but are all also fab with the children. I highly recommend this nursery!

I found all the staff are very good indeed. There is a very pleasant atmosphere and feel to the place. There is a wide range of different rooms and the outdoor areas are great for the kids. I know that my son enjoys his time there very much.

I have two children at this nursery - aged 3years 10 months and 1year 11 months.


Can not praise this nursery enough - I took my children out of another local nursery as I wasn't happy and it's the best decision I made.


All of the staff are so welcoming and happy and my children talk very highly

of them. The staff literally bend over backwards to accommodate any needs I ever have.


The day set up is brilliant too - children have the opportunity to move between different rooms at different times in the day, this is not something that I have ever seen in another nursery.


Would highly recommend to parents with children of any age who are looking for somewhere that is trustworthy and child-centred.

The nursery has excellent teachers who invest time and passion in what they do. My child has settled really well and the staff has been really loving towards him. I love the outside space he has where he can run around and have fun!
He has easy access to mark making and painting as well as playing
with the sand tray and toys too.
The thing that attracted me to this nursery in particular and helped me to make my decision is the music, art and nursery teachers lessons. The topic they teach and the cultural richness of the teaching is impressive and I am glad my child is exposed to this environment.
I am grateful that on top of the lessons, the staff are constantly on top of the children, teaching them good behaviour and day to day tasks that enhance their independence, such as emptying their plate into the bin or hanging their coats on their individual pegs.
The staff are really sweet and caring towards my child and I am grateful for it as it makes a huge difference to me.

As a parent, I am very happy that my son has the opportunity to come to Active Learning Kingston (Surrey). He is always happy when I leave him in the morning and it's obvious at the end of the day that he has stayed that way. The girls in the baby room are so caring and loving, they always make my son
feel welcome and keep me reassured as a parent.
My husband and I love the fact that there is a separate sensory room and a sleep room for the babies. We couldn't be happier with our choice and really look forward to experiencing all the other opportunities that the nursery provide.

I chose Active Learning as I was impressed by the facilities, the level of cleanliness, the interesting programme of learning and the large outdoor area. My daughter was just 10 months when she started and I felt comfortable knowing the was a separate sleep room for the tiny tots, with proper cots.
I was also reassured by the webcam and in the early days often checked in to see my little one. With the education programme, I was confident that my child would be in a suitable environment until she goes to reception.
Literacy and numeracy are part of the nursery day, with a qualified early years teacher providing engaging lessons. There are separate classrooms for some activities such as music and art, with specialist teachers for both. The children get visiting teachers for French and ballet, so no need to traipse off to ballet lessons during our precious weekend together. There is also a sports coach and the children get to do a variety of sporting activities.

Our daughter joined Active Learning Kingston about 4 months ago and we couldn't be happier. We had to move her from her first nursery after 6 weeks and were very nervous about the change as she had just started to settle in (at 10 months). The transition however, was seamless, if anything she seemed
even happier at Active Learning. The key for us at the beginning was that management listened and acted on our feedback.
We have seen a huge shift in our daughter in the past 4 months. She was a difficult eater and now she eats pretty much anything and is feeding herself, she made lots of friends and she quite literally runs into the breakfast room in the mornings. Her key worker as well as the rest of the staff in the baby room, are all much loved by her. We have complete peace of mind during a working day!

We first used this nursery for our eldest daughter two and a half years ago and now our youngest is here. They've both loved their time here. The staff are caring and genuinely interested in the children as individuals. There's a good balance between encouraging learning and nurturing. I always feel
assured about leaving my child here and she is always happy at pick up. Sometimes so much that she doesn't want to leave!!

I highly recommend this nursery, I am a mother of 2 boys, currently at this nursery and they are so happy over there. The staff is absolutely brilliant, so creative in their teaching methods and always kind and patient with children. They make a true difference in my boys' daily life, giving them special
attention and confidence. Trust and dialogue are key in a relationship between parents and carers and this nursery truly overachieved their objective in this field. The best nursery you can find in the area, with staff excellence, spacious and very well maintained facilities, and real and proven teaching methods. Not all nurseries are meeting so many criteria, that are the end so fundamental in our children's life. Best nursery and pre-school!

My son loves coming to Active Learning, Kingston. The structured days are a great idea and I feel that my son's progress is regularly monitored. They offer a wide range of activities lead by specific teachers such as art, sport, ballet and French along with all the other sessions you would expect to
have in a nursery. There is even a library if you want to borrow a book to share with your child. The structured teaching programme with a dedicated and well-trained teacher is great and my son is progressing well.


All the staff, are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make sure my son is happy and enjoying nursery. They have also been amazing in supporting us with an additional educational needs assessment and have ensured that all staff in the nursery are aware of my son's needs. This has helped a great deal in terms of his progress, development and overall happiness at the nursery. Parents are also given a full handover by their key worker at the end of a session which is great.

My son is 13 months old and after his settling in period, he seems very happy when every morning we go to the nursery (he starts smiling from the gate). He loves the staff and the babies are offered a range of stimulating activities. There is also a quite big play area outside. The chef working there
is very good and the menu is well-balanced. A very caring environment. There is also a system of webcams which helped me a lot at the beginning: a parent can just login and see what his/her little one is doing.
I would recommend it.

We have used this nursery for the past 4.5 years for both our girls and we have always been very impressed with the facilities and the staff employed there. The staff are genuinely interested in the kids as individuals and I have always been confident that my girls would be happy, safe and well looked
after during their time there. The facilities are amazing and I love the different dedicated spaces that the nursery offers for different activities such as sport, dance, music, art, science, IT, sleep or sensory time. I also love the fact that there are specialist teachers in addition to the core nursery staff to deliver variation and structure to the kids’ day. Overall, my girls have loved their time at this nursery and it has prepared them well for school. I would recommend it to others.

Fantastic nursery - genuinely caring staff and wonderful learning environment. I have worked in the Early Years Sector for 18 years and started working for Bright Horizons Victoria Road Kingston in 2014 as Deputy Manager, being promoted to Manager in March 2016.
I hold a BA Hons degree in Early Years and Child Education and an Early Years Professional Status. I am passionate about providing a high quality of care and education.


As Manager, one of my objectives is to offer each child a safe, warm, and caring environment in which they can feel happy and secure to enable them to thrive so that they are confident and happy and ready for school. I lead my team to provide excellent childcare and education for all of the children and their families in our care

I have been with Bright Horizons for 15 years now. I started my journey at Pimlico Nursery and Preschool in 2005 and have worked myself through the nursery up to Deputy Nursery Manager in 2013. Whist working I completed my BA Hons degree in Early Years. I then joined Bright Horizons Victoria Road Kingston in September 2016 as a Deputy Manager. I am passionate about the work I do and it gives me great satisfaction to encourage and nurture children’s learning and development. I work closely with the Nursery Manager to provide an inviting, safe and warm environment for all the families that come to the Nursery.
