Welcome to Bright Horizons Kingston Victoria Road Day Nursery and Preschool. They provide high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery is ideally located between Kingston and Norbiton stations and within walking distance of Kingston town centre and local bus routes. There is on-site parking available too.

The nursery is set in a purpose-designed beautifully spacious building and has a large, recently refurbished garden that can be accessed throughout the year. There is a sensory room for under two’s, and a fully equipped art studio where children are able to explore different mediums in process and skills-based art, sometimes studying well-known artists and their techniques.

The preschool science lab and IT studio with interactive whiteboard helps children to prepare for school using their chosen literacy and numeracy programs. Bright Horizons runs growing enhancement programs as part of their nursery day which includes Growing Readers, Growing Writers and Growing Mathematicians. An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff, including a Nursery Teacher, plan exciting and engaging activities to stretch the children’s learning and development, always following their interests.

I love this nursery. Both my sons went there, and my youngest (age 3) is now in the pre-school there. The staff are incredible, really caring and put on lots of fun activities, and the pre-school teacher provides a high-quality education. He always runs in excited to go, and the facilities are excellent.
He loves the food - and always seems to have seconds! I'd highly recommend it!

Our son attended this nursery and preschool from 12 months old and our daughter is now attending. We have always got on really well with all the staff and feel that our children are safe and being well looked after. The nursery dealt with re-opening to non-keyworkers after the covid lockdown really
well with clear information and precautions taken. The only thing I would prefer is for tea to be a bigger meal as we pick up between 6-6.30pm

One of the best things about this nursery is the staff and how dedicated they are. From the moment the government announced that nursery can reopen, I really felt that we were informed and options of when to go back to nursery were given to us. It was very clear to me that we were not pushed into sending
our child back to nursery. Equally importantly, no fees was charged even if we decided not to send kids back.
It must have been very difficult for members of staff to reopen the nursery after lockdown was lifted and an unimaginable amount of prep must have been put in to ensure safety of our children and staff. Under such a very difficult circumstance, my child comes back home with a lot of artwork, crafts, and one time, a potato! It is obvious that staff are doing the best that they possibly can to provide them with enjoyable/fun/ learning activities. I really admire how hardworking and committed the staff members are.

A friendly nursery with great facilities, including a very decent outdoor space. The art studio was my daughter's favourite place, but she also had a great time doing music and dancing and performing at the Christmas show they put on. Her confidence in numbers and writing also improved while she was
at the preschool, and they had a good book borrowing scheme to encourage early reading. They offer great nutritious food options; our little girl has always eaten well at Bright Horizons nurseries. As a Bright Horizons nursery, they also offer longer opening hours than most of the local nurseries we looked at, which was a huge necessity for us when commuting into London.

This nursery is managed very well and professionally. Some teachers are excellent and there is a lot of focus on music and art. Food is properly cooked and some of it organic.

Both our children are going to this nursery and are both very happy to be there! They love the staff, the food, the garden and all the activities they are doing there. As parents, we feel that this is a safe environment where our children can socialise safely, make new friends, play, learn and enjoy.
All the staff is so friendly and approachable. They are willing to make the extra mile for the children’s well-being! We would definitely recommend it!

Very happy with the overall care, activities and staff at the nursery. My son loves spending time here, especially now he has moved up to firebirds with the older children. He is excited to tell me about his day when I collect him and his language has improved immensely since moving up a level into

We had used numerous other nurseries prior to arriving at Bright Horizons and have a host of terrible experiences with most of them due to our son's unique requirements, as he is diagnosed with ASD. But since day 1, our son has thoroughly enjoyed coming here, he has made friends and bonds with the teachers
unlike at previous schools. They have worked with his therapist to provide him with the best learning strategies and his development reflects this great progress.

My son has been in Active Learning since 9 months old and is now leaving to go to school aged 4. He took a while to warm up to the nursery, however in the past 2 years he's grown to love it. The teachers, particularly those in the past 2 years, have been wonderful. They really get to know the children
and create great bonds with them. My son particularly loves the sport, science and art lessons, and I credit his great number and letter skills at such an early age to the teaching he's had at the nursery. We love that they have so much space here - they are not in one room all day like many other nurseries. They are moving around to different 'lessons' and always have garden time which is their favourite. The management are supportive also, and very flexible adding on extra sessions whenever required. The only negative we've experienced is the very high price increases year on year, which unfortunately I believe is down to the parent company and not a reflection on the nursery itself.

I was very nervous about signing my son up to any nursery as he had never been left with anyone other than Mum and Dad. The first day I dropped him off he was in hysterics and the staff at Active really helped put me at ease. They are a fantastic team of passionate staff with great facilities and all
the children seem very happy there. The nursery has really helped my son come out of his shell and build his confidence. Thank you for all your hard work!

The nursery did a very good job looking after our boys. Staff are caring and the boys looked forward to going to nursery. The facilities are excellent and their days are filled with fun and educational activities which are well documented in their learning journal.
Meals are served frequently throughout
the day and the boys always seem to have extra servings!
Overall very pleased and would be happy to recommend this nursery school.

My son recently started school having spent three years at Active Learning and my daughter has just moved up to preschool.
I find the staff and in particular room leaders to really take the time to get to know the children, providing as much support as possible.
I also find feedback great and personal
and the activities they take part in extensive (i.e. French/ballet/specialist teachers for music/art/sport).

My Son is in Firebird room. He has learned a lot especially through the art class and nursery teacher. He loves the music classes and Ballet. He has bonded very well with his mentors.


The new garden is a great space for the children to play.

The staff in my son's room are fantastic he loves them and appears to enjoy himself which is great. They have activities such as music and art which is great although I appreciate harder to coordinate with babies!
I'm sure as he goes through the rooms the activities and learning is appropriately placed
but for now, it's quite hard to judge for a one-year-old developmentally. He eats well and gets on with the other children. The staff are organised and always have time for feedback which indicates how much time and effort they have for the children. Thank you to the staff in the babies room.

We are delighted with the way our son has settled into the nursery. The staff have been absolutely brilliant, and so accommodating of his additional needs. They have shown that they have taken time to understand his needs and are so thoughtful and caring. We are really impressed with the way they handle
it, without ever making a big deal or making him different to the other children.
The children's activities are varied and really well thought out, and often linked to events in the outside world, such as the world cup and the royal wedding. My son is able to try a lot of new activities, and the staff give me lots of ideas for things to try at home too. He especially likes the sensory room, Jo Jingles (who visits every Wednesday) and playing outside. The staff are always really professional and the atmosphere in the nursery is warm and friendly. They give detailed feedback when I collect my son about what he's been up to during the day.

My son has settled really well into the nursery. The staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I like that the nursery provide different activities to support the development of my child. Over the past 2 years, I have watched my son develop into a confident and happy little person at this nursery, and I attribute this to the wonderful environment provided here. Always professional, friendly and cooperative, the staff treat & care for the children as individuals, and I wholeheartedly
trust them to provide the best possible care and support for our son.


Facilities are clean & fresh, classrooms are well sized to provide an intimate and secure environment, and the outdoor play areas are well organised to provide the same safe environment.


A mixed range of activities supported by structured teaching reassures me that he is developing key skills and varied interests.


Meals/snacks are diverse & prepared fresh in-house by the nursery chef, which provides reassurance that our son is eating well and healthily whilst experiencing different tastes.


Overall I find it great value for money, providing my son with valuable skills in preparation for the transition to school.

I have worked in the Early Years Sector for 18 years and started working for Bright Horizons Victoria Road Kingston in 2014 as Deputy Manager, being promoted to Manager in March 2016.
I hold a BA Hons degree in Early Years and Child Education and an Early Years Professional Status. I am passionate about providing a high quality of care and education.


As Manager, one of my objectives is to offer each child a safe, warm, and caring environment in which they can feel happy and secure to enable them to thrive so that they are confident and happy and ready for school. I lead my team to provide excellent childcare and education for all of the children and their families in our care

I have been with Bright Horizons for 15 years now. I started my journey at Pimlico Nursery and Preschool in 2005 and have worked myself through the nursery up to Deputy Nursery Manager in 2013. Whist working I completed my BA Hons degree in Early Years. I then joined Bright Horizons Victoria Road Kingston in September 2016 as a Deputy Manager. I am passionate about the work I do and it gives me great satisfaction to encourage and nurture children’s learning and development. I work closely with the Nursery Manager to provide an inviting, safe and warm environment for all the families that come to the Nursery.
